  • i vant 2 see part 3! no rush though. by the way thats a beutiful farm. is that in canada? im canadian, but i like americans, great pepole! :-D

  • @assfailure123 You are in luck: watch?v=RkBA4xMi0WQ and watch?v=7cZdh62FjUU

It lives again, and has undergone a partial restoration since the time those videos were shot. I am located in Illinois USA. Someday I would like to visit or even live in Canada.

You have an interesting username. ;-)

  • @uxwbill glad u like canada! i was bored so i put the first thing that popped nto my head as a user name. subbed u!

  • We have a super a that were rebuilding cause it sit 8 yrs and the motors stuck.

  • Can you plz do part 3

  • were is part 3?

  • @mrdeisel335 Not filmed yet. :-) I'm pleased to say that I do have a proper set of plug wires, acquired sometime last week. So there will be some progress coming, hopefully soon. Depends upon when all of this rain stops and the pasture has dried out enough to traverse it without getting into a huge mess.

  • Ever get it running??

  • LOVE TO SEE THAT FARMALL OUT OF RETIREMENT DOING WHAT SHE WAS BUILT FOR AGAIN.PLEASE KEEP US POSTED ON THE PROGRESS...GOOD LUCK, ...DANO

  • Hey uxwbill, when you get time shoot me a message please, have lots of questions for you.

  • Aw come on Bill - be a real man and get the hand crank out - most of those 40's and 50's model tractors could be hand cranked - our 8N and NAA Fords could and I guaran-damn-tee you its a good way to end up with a broken wrist. That engine cranking sounds just like the 8N and NAA too.

  • No foolin'. We've got an Allis "B" that is hand-crank-only. More often than not, it is started through energy delivered by a "Chevrolet battery" and a tow strap. For everything else, I see to it that the electrical system works. Six volts can do the job if the system is right.

We had some tractors in a tractor show recently, and the starter on the AC WD broke. It had to be hand cranked, but it lit right off with two cranks.

  • @uxwbill Most in good tune will start up byhand alright - just have to be ready for the one that wants to fire wrong and throws the crank backwards. You gain a high level of respect for our ancestors that had no alternative but to hand start those old cars with solid rubber tires on wooden wheels and adjust the spark advance from the column then drive in an open compartment.

  • sounds like it will be running in no time

  • I really like your upbeat and even-tempered attitude toward life Bill. It's a pleasure watching your videos.

  • There's a fine Rock Island machine! It will run again soon I feel

  • Funny you'd say that...I've seen some of the forgotten International Harvester buildings in Rock Island. Who knows...this very tractor could have come out of one of them!

I will be picking up new plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and fixing the electrical connections here soon. Then I will have to see about getting at least one new hydraulic hose.

  • @uxwbill

I've had several relatives from Northwestern Illinois who worked in those hallowed halls in the House of Farmall in Rock Island. And neighbors in Mount Carroll too. Good steady work until f-in Archie took over in the late 70s and wanted concessions from the UAW at a time when the company was posting a profit.

  • @Hiei2k7 AMEN, you cant keep a good Farmall down. My Father retired from the Farmall plant in Rock Island about 25 years ago.

  • Nice hat!!! I live in NY and if I had warning lights on my vehicle I could not pass inspection which means I would not have a vehicle for someone to dive my disabled body around.

The tractor looks great I know there is a broken one down the road in a old leaky barn.

    great videos keep them coming.

  • I have little use for vehicle inspections. Thankfully, they are not an issue here. If it's got approximately the right number of wheels, lights and brakes, and it'll start, that is all that is needed.

If that ever threatens to change, you can bet that I'll be there front and center making lots of noise about it. I don't have a desire to pollute or damage the environment, but I'll drive what I want to, where I want to drive it.

  • don't open that coca-cola for awhile!!! :-D

  • Was that your dad in the vid? Think that's the first time I've heard his voice!

  • Yes, that's him. He's spoken before, but not as clearly as you hear him in this video, usually because there is a lot of stuff going on. He's not crazy about being on camera.

  • Yes it turns over now.

  • uxwbill: you know, you're one of the few who can make almost any kind of video, and i'll watch it because of the unique style and your technical expertise. and i really like your vehicle-oriented ones lately, even though i've never cared much for these things.

but i have to ask: are you planning on making some computer-related vids in the near future? i really enjoyed those..

  • Thank you.

It does take some time to make videos, and I don't want to spend all of my time making videos. :-) Otherwise it's just too much like a job. You can be sure that there will continue to be a variety of videos, including ones about computers.

  • @uxwbill i can totally understand that. you do it for fun, and i'll watch it for fun (and sometimes to learn something). :)

  • ok bill whats with all the warning lights on while its running

  • The ABS light is on because the front left wheel sensor isn't happy. Strangely, it's not a "hard" fault. Very occasionally it will go out. Even when it has been on, the ABS still worked, which I found very odd. I will fix this. The code indicates a problem with the left front wheel sensor.

The other light indicates a fault within the airbag system, and I know exactly where it is. After having seen the way airbags blow things apart, though, I doubt if I will ever fix it.

  • @uxwbill I wonder if there's metal shaving stuck to the sensor? I've seen a few ABS sensors go all out of whack if they collect metal shavings. However that's only going to happen if the brakes are run way down and you start chewing into the backing pads. I doubt you guys would do that being as car savvy as you are, you''d hear the grinding and fix the problem instead of ignore it like most people do.

  • lol at the end...it took me a minute...

Well atleast things look better for the old Farmall then they did earlier...and certainly better than the Grain Truck.

  • The only trouble I see coming for the Farmall is that of the hydraulics. There's a large sickle mower attached to it. The mower itself sunk in the ground. I don't know if the tractor will have enough oomph and range of lift to get it out of there or not.

  • glad you got a working starter motor, cant wait to see the end result!

  • cant wait to see it running
