Sigh, what a greenwash. 50 kilometers on a single charge is NOTHING compared to what is possible today. If a Tesla Model S can run up to 300 miles/480 kilometers on one charge, then a good hybrid should be able to run at least 200 kilometers on pure electricity. And the energy company Vattenfall aren't very green either, they're known for expanding coal power in Poland for example.

Th eproblem is explained by Tesla motors. Because of the cost from the batteries so do you only have two choices. Either you make the car only electric, or an hybrid. The gasoline drivetrain is very expensive, and you can't have both (an gasoline drivetrain and batteries for 300 miles) if the car should cost below 50.000$.

Well, I'ld rather get an old Volvo 240 and have Electroengine convert it to an electric than buy this hybrid in that case :)

The cost of the batteries is so high at present that such a proposal would add tens of thousands to the price, plus leave no room for the ICE. Look at the Volt battery, it is hugh and thats for 50 miles or so. We must wait for better batteries, which are at the prototype stage now, that will give you hundreds of miles from the same size package as the 50 mile one.

Ethanol, Butanol and pure Gas fuels are the way forward.

The swedish energy authorities has prospected and planned to build at least 30 TWh of windpower in the 2010's (wind remains virtually unexploited to this day), so I don't think it'll be a problem.

i dont have a problem with electric cars. they only look like pertrol cars which i dont understand. in fact petrol cars looked basically like horse wagons; 4 wheels, a bench in the front etc. i think electric cars should look different. no fuel tank, no transmission, no engine etc...
