  • what does he say at 0:25?

  • Hello and welcome to The Bafta's

  • welcome to the baftas

  • hahaa lustig sind die engländer!!

    wo ist mein handy? lol

  • LOL excellent.

  • Stephen has a very good German pronounciation.

Ich hab mein Handy verloren :D

    Just amazing.

  • Ahaha! Stephen is so adorable!

  • He really is! I love that voice!

  • I just had to watch this twice. I love Stephen. (:

I want to wake up one day and find him sitting at the end of my bed, with a book poised in hand. All ready to tell me a story.

  • @icecreamvanman22 Finally someone who thinks Stephen Fry is as awesome as I do! I think he's brilliant :D

  • @danish93kat

Yay! I share your sentiments exactly. He's looking great too, since he's lost all the weight. Woo! Stephen!

  • Well, I live in Bavaria, not sure what you lot mean by one of those people from Bavaria....

Anyway, as I watch German and English videos I read the titel mein handy I didn't notice that it was German for ages.

  • Don't really know why people have such a problem with that word being used differently in german... apart from how shit it sounds

  • It's actually pronounced more like 'Hendy' in modern German.

  • HAHA camp indeed.

  • Mein Handyyyy

    So cool

    Iam German

    I love Stephen Fry

    Wo is mein Handy? LOL

  • He sounds like one of those people from Bavaria... xD

  • Bavaria is in Germany

  • Well, I know that Bavaria is in Germany xD

  • Lmao his laugh is so funny. :D

  • THOU SHALT NOT QUESTION STEPHEN FRY.

If you don't like him, here's a novel idea: don't watch his videos for the simple and sole purpose of dissing people who do!

Because, to do otherwise makes you a self-important, loud-mouthed, attention seeking moron!

You inflicted this video and the ensuing comments upon yourself. You have no right to bitch about a video you knew full well you wouldn't like when you searched 'stephen fry' or 'QI' or clicked on the video.

    So shut the fuck up.

  • Oh, go fly a kite, dildo.

  • Yeah, apparently no one can accept the slightest critisism if it's directed at Stephen Fry.

  • that's actually true, i don't know why you got so many thumbs down

  • It is so awesome how he says "Welcome to ze Baaaaaftas"

  • everybody loves stephen fry

  • hahahahaha omg love it.

yea idk who came up with "handy" but we germans think its oh so right lol. oh well

  • that should be a ringtone

  • Sometimes Stephen Fry is just too adorable that its just positively criminal.

  • and who wud u call a full-intellect? george bush perhaps?

  • never

  • I love that laugh at 0:19

    Hehehehehehe. Not - no.

  • "Sthtop it!"

  • Wow :)

    Mein Handie...

  • I've just doodled Stephen in my German notebook. "Wo ist mein Handy?" is obviously in the bubble above him.

  • I love QI

  • The way he says "Hello and welcome to the Bafta's" is - in my opinion - even more hilarious than "the where's mein handy" ...You gotta love Stephen anyway :))

  • I agree. And after 6 series of QI, it is still one of the things that has made me laugh the most.

  • Stephen, you are a god! Brilliant.

  • HAHAHA

If I ever going to Germany I'm gong into a shop and asking if they've seen mein handy ;D

And WTF does he say at 0:24 to 0:26?

  • I think a german walking into a English shop, asking to buy a handy would be quite funny.

  • Hello and welcome to the BAFTA's

  • Ohhh! :L

  • He says "Hello and welcome to the BAFTAs"

    XD

  • He says "Stop it!" in a really camp way :P

    Soooooooo funny

  • Lol that was the best part

    "schtaaap it!"

  • I have never met anyone who doesn't think Stephen Fry is marvellous

  • He's right, Mein Kampfe, My Struggle

  • Mein Camp ..

    (Hitlers secret memoirs)

  • Mein Kampf, actually

  • Yeah I realise that.

It's called a 'play on words'.

Did you notice the part of the video where they are talking about being 'camp'?

  • not very secret-they have been in publication sin ce the 30s

  • i´m german and THIS IS FUNNY

  • Oh God, I do love it when Stephen acts camp.

  • What does he mean by camp?

  • Camp is a slang term for gay. This is really funny because while Stephen is gay, he is clearly not camp. So him doing a camp accent is amusing. XD At the very least to myself.

  • lol that was obvious, I shoulda caught on haha Does camp mean gay in German?

  • No, Camp is American or British? I'm not sure. Either way, it's a slang term.

  • no, it is purely english/american slang for acting feminitely when you are a male

  • So funny! :)

  • ROFL!

  • I've never laughed so hard in my life. Stephen Fry is GOD.

  • Stephen Fry is an absolute legend.

    <3

  • i'm calling my mobile, mein handy from now on - classic!!

  • GET STEPHEN FRY KNIGHTED

  • this never gets old.

"hallo arnd werlcome too da barftas"

    gets me everytime hahahaha

i love QI and stephen fry!

  • He pronounces Handy wrong. It's pronounced "Hen-dee" not "Hun-dee". If he'd pronounced it correctly it would've sounded even more camp or "kemp"!

  • Yes, but his accent turns me on anyway. English people speaking German is amazing.

  • Ive just come back from germany where they say it all the time. Trust me It still sounds camp.

  • Ahhaha! Stephen, you're great! Sounds like a gay Rainer Wolfcastle (the Schwarzenegger send-up from The Simpsons). Straight into my Favourites.

    Great name, btw, Spameggssausage!

  • I love Stephen Fry; he's great.

  • actually, it's pronounced "hen-dee" and not "hun-dee".. but the rest of his german is great :)

  • There's something very arousing about Stephen's German accent...

  • what does stephen say after alan asks if he's presenting the bafta's?

  • he says "not.., no"

and then when alan says "it's a shame, i was gonna say you should do it in that voice", he says "hello and welcome to the baftas"

  • Stephen = GOD!!

  • Hellooo und velcum to za Baaaaftas!

    8'D

Stephen Fry is just.... well, epic!

  • total ledge

  • "Hellooo und velcome to ze BAAFTAS!" and Jo Brand's reaction to that. Adore Stephen Fry!

  • unfortunately hardly anybody knows him over here in germany. But those that DO know him adore his german^^

  • I think it's not JUST the intonation and the stresses on the "wrong" syllables that make Stephen's German accent hilarious. I think it's the way he licks his lips, as he mimes looking for his "handy." That may make me sound like a right perv, but I don't care. I love Stephen Fry so much, that he is worth the risk of possible accusations of perversion on YouTube...that I will of course deny, emphatically.

  • hahaha terrific!

  • It appears that they had a few Beefeaters!

  • this guy gets me in stitches any time!

  • "Helloo nd whelcom to de Baftas!" lol

"Stop it!" Stephen fry is Genius!

  • Priceless. I love his facial expression when he's saying that.

  • So funny Stephen Fry=Legend

  • "Are you hosting the Baftas this year?"

    "Hahahahahaa, er.. it.. not, no"

  • "indeed not, no"

  • best german accent ever

    wo ist mein handy?haha

  • ... and the gayest one as well ^^ Modern Metrosexual German Accent I would call it!

  • Wo ist mein handy?

  • Ich hab' mein Handy verloren!

  • cool

  • hellooooh und welcome to the baaaftas.

    PLEASE BE MY UNCLE, STEPHEN!

  • Oh how I adore this man!

He, like someone already said, is a God amoung men!

    Thanks for posting :]

  • I'm so embarrased to be german...

I went to a supermarket yesterday and I found some Cornflakes which were called "Gut for u". People think that using english words for certain products makes them more attractive for customers, but they very often don't know what the words actually mean. The best example fot that is probably the motto of a perfume shop: Come in and find out...

  • when i went to japan there was a rice packed with 'go fuck yourself' on it

  • oh that had me clapping like a seal i swear. i have german cousins and whenever they refer to their 'handy' i feel like clobbering them over the head with it.

  • steven fry is a god amoung men!

  • :D

    Ich find hammer ♥

    Wo's mein Häändy x]

  • People, this is SO hilarious :) Stephen is our sweetest handy :)

  • "Vers mein handy??"

  • just got back from an exchange visit to germany and they couldn't understand why i kept laughing when they said "handy"

  • stephen fry has the most soothing voice, it flows like cream

  • The most cream of old England! :D

    (cf. T_cL37JhDe8)

  • YKW2 (2 days ago) The most cream of old England! :D

    YES!

  • Or, in fact, he may be saying "roast cream of old England"...

    But the point stands :D

  • We had a visiting professor from Germany come speak to my journalism class and he mentioned how they called the mobile phone a handy, and I burst out laughing thinking about Stephen's campy German accent.

  • The BAFTAS line gets me everytime.

  • I am the only one who finds Stephen fry extremely attractive and terribly adorable in this clip?

  • Stephen Fry clearly deserves a knighthood. Sir Stephen Fry - it just fits so well!

  • It's hilarious.

  • "hello and welcome to the baftas..."

    best line ever

  • Stephen's talents seem endless. His take-off of other accents is so accurate, and very funny. He should be recognised for his contribution to entertainment at the very least. Others have received awards for much less.

  • Yeah. He's supremely talented at what he does. I mean, he and Hugh Laurie do American accents SO well. Name me one American who can acceptably fake a British accent...

  • Gwyneth Paltrow and Renee Zellwegger are pretty good...

  • James Cromwell. Sorry, had to be said lol

  • James Cromwell in..uh..Blackball?

  • read Stephen's autobiography moab is my washpot it rocks!

  • I agree everyone should read this book it's so hilarious lol, he's a total legend

  • haha haha. the bafta gets me everytime

  • stunning.

  • I didn't think it was possible to love the Fryster anymore ;)

  • oh mein handy i have that as my ring tone and thrs germans at my school pisses them right off lol

  • D:

    so do i!

but there's no germans at my college (that im aware of) so im ok ;)

  • congratulations - that must be the best ring tone ever!

  • btw - how can i get it as my ring tone? i really want his voice on it but i have no idea what i have to do. pleeeaaaassse help me!

  • download the video, extract the audio and cut the bit out you want.

  • thanks so much!

  • fuckin brill

  • I thought he was already a knight!!!

  • lmao hello and welcome to the baftas

  • i'm german and i don't get that one at all. do you mind explaining?

  • you never will get it.

  • Maybe because most stereotypes of Germans in English comedy are of the screaming ''Nazi''', some English speaking people arn't aware of the subtelty of the German language.

  • MilkyWay, it hasn't got anything to do with being German. Stephen could say it in some ancient dialect spoken in the remotest regions of Siberia and it'd still be funny... because it's Stephen, and because the campy inflection and searching motions he does are so very... well, campy.

  • yeah i know. but i dont get what baftas are? does he refer to those film awards?

  • yup

  • Yes, the BAFTAs are the British Annual Film & Television Awards (or something to that effect).

  • Well, Germany does hold a lot of stereotypes of camp, you've got the gay German bathhouses and bars, and impressions like Stephen's... Germany is just one of those countries. Not that it's justified, and I'm not trying to laugh at Germany, but it's just easier to make fun of than, say, Siberia.

  • i'am a german and thats not funny!!! ....mmmhhh, .... ok maybe its al little bit funny ;-)

  • "Welcome to the BAFTA's". Was that a German Camp Guard?

  • LMAO stop touching mein handy ...........It was very expensive! :P haa haa

  • Great! I'm german and I love Stephen!!!

And it's true I always loose my Handy +g+

Which episode of Qi ist it from??

  • the "a" in "handy" sometimes sounded too german (="aaaah"). actually, "handy" is pronounced "händy" (>> germans trying to speak proper english *rofl*). anyway, i love stephen :). eloquence makes men look sexy :D :D :D. (although he's VERY good looking, anyway!)

  • bwahaha! finally someone else who makes fun of the whole "handy" thing x) I used to see the German Jamba ads on tv when i was younger...hilarious.

  • Hallo and welcome to the BAFTA's hehe luv it!! i lyk alans russian accent to thou :)

  • lol a talent that comes with being gay, or maybe a talent that comes with being an insomniac actor/comedian/writer?

  • nokia-entsperrcodes*de*tl

    * = .

  • looks like your friend was right ;)

  • Wo ist meine Handy. ich habe meine handy verloren...

Hahahahahaha! I nearly choked on my tea - so funny

  • I was in the audience for this show. Was very funny!

Does anyone else who went remember Jo Brand doing her shopping list?

    x

  • How do you get to be an audience member? I'd really love to be one for an episode.

  • I'm laughing at his hand actions lmfao

    vo ist mein handy?!

  • Vo ist mein Hany?

    LOL Stephen Fry (Y).

  • "OOO, vers my mein handy". LOL! How delightfully camp.

  • 'Helloo and welcum to the BAHFTAHS.'

    BRRRILLIANT!

  • "Hello and welcome to the BAFTAs" that kills me everytime

  • Wo ist mein handy?!

  • WHY is that so amusing! XD

  • What season/series and episode is this one?
