  • Great slideshow for the awesome track.

  • wow....(holds heart..) beautiful..

  • 1:22 mike's hair is shorter

  • I've got this on a 7 inch running at 33rpm.

  • Stevie and Michael...my musical idols. I love when they worked together. They should have made a whole album together.

  • this song reminds me of myself :D!! My mom calls me Buttercup all the time cuz, when i was really little, i used to be a big fan of the Powerpuff Girls XD Buttercup especially XD

  • I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. I play the album over and over again. It"s a shame they have so many unreleased songs on Motown. Their music was the best. Love you J5.

  • Oh and the bass player is killing it :-D.

  • MJ and SW equal brilliance, this sounds so good. When two musical geniuses come together like this, we are the ones who truly benefits from their union, forever thankful ;-).

  • First time I heard of this song. I like it :)

  • I repeat to listen buttercup again and again

  • Too bad, Stevie couldn't have J5 the way Smokey had done the Tempts.

  • I remember to listen buttercup from the radio, when I was studied in primary and secondary school

  • Stevie's writing + Michael's voice = PURE MAGIC...and that's what this song is!!!

  • BOY IMAGINE STEVIE SINGING THIS .

  • The Jackson 5 fill this song with so much heavenly harmonic bliss is almost unbearable! I love Carl Anderson's cover too, particularly for the jazz-infused thing he does at the bridge. Stevie, of course, is a GENIUS all the way around. Fantastic tune.

  • I´ve never heard this song before, even though I´m a big MJ fan. Great vid!

  • kiekerc You made an INCREDIBLE VIDEO.

    Thank You . Michael 4ever

  • this song is so catchy! love the pics michael was so cute

  • 5 stars for stevie 5 for MJ they shoulda work more together I canthelp it and just good friends were awsome too

  • Michael is soooo cute!

  • What was the instrument used from 2:47 to 3:40?

  • That's Stevie playing a Wurlitzer, run thru a phaser of some sort. The attack is a little softer than the Fender Rhodes playing the chords on the rest of the song.

Stevie didn't record too much with Wurli's so it's always a treat and nice to hear him on one.

    Probably a Wurlitzer 200A.

  • Where is the picture at 3:17 and 3:45 from?

  • @LeyarnaR

search for 'free to be you and me michael jackson', you'll find it :D

  • I love this, why was this unreleased for so long? Can you imagine what else they might be keeping from us??

  • I know!

There have been rumours about another album with more songs of the stevie sessions that might get released this year!

But there hasn't been a confirmation of motown yet....

We'll see what the future brings.

At least motown handles those precious unreleased songs the right way .... not like Sony!

  • I first heard this song...I was like who the hell is this singin'...Mike sounds amazing....(what puberty can do to your voice)...lol He always had that voice and dancing....so cute....

  • Thank you for the post with lyrics, this is my new favorite song!!!!

  • Gonna confess to having never been aware of this, being convinced Carl Anderson's to be the original. Great as Carl's version was, this blows it totally outta the water! Another testament to the genius of Michael Jackson. Just makes you wonder what on earth were the suits @ Motown doin' back in '74 sittin' on this bonafide pop/funk gem. This has to rank up there as one of MJ's finest music moments, no kiddin'!

  • was totally unaware of this version... Carl Anderson was totally dope.....this version is a super nice...

  • I agree. Carl's version is hot! but this one right here gives you the chills because Mike's delivery was beyond smooth

  • This is unbelievable, MJ and Stevie..at the rite time, too when mike vocals were in the midst of the change.Perfect!

  • where did you find the lyrics? i love this song!

  • This song was released before by another artist, the lyrics were very similar :)

I only had to adjust it here and there :)

  • My nu favorite song!!

  • I wonder if Stevie Wonder is doing the synth solo at the end.

Soulful and funky at the same time. MJ's voice was made for this track.

  • I am sure it is Stevie Wonder playing at the end. It sounds like him definetely

  • I'm in love with Michael Jackson all over again!! There is so much love in his tone!!!! The best ever!!!!!

  • 2:55 is so cute..lovin this song

  • encore une tuerie..... splendide

  • Great pics!!!

  • This song is really awesome!

My favorite song of Michael's is" I can't help it" which is by Stevie Wonder.

And I love Jermaine's "Let's Get Serious" (all songs in this album are cool.) and "I think it's love" (hit song in 1986, co-written by Stevie).

    Stevie + Jacksons is WONDERful!

  • This is motown's 6th release since he died? No shame. I will be buying it, though. Sounds good.

  • Yeah, that's the sad side on this release...

but the tracks on the album are awesome!

  • i love this, i wanna here the other stevie tracks they did

  • Yeah, me too!

The album he produced with Jermaine is really good too!

  • Awesome! I can assume Wonderlove is the backing band along with Stevie.

  • this song is sooo cool!

  • GOD I LOVE IT ! :D<3

    Love you mikey ^^

  • OMG!!!

    I love this soo much!!
