i believe this song is about an abusive relationship. the small clips here and there give way to it. as far as the chorus goes, "it's me and the moon she said, and i've got no trouble with that"-- i believe he means that she is escaping the abuse by her dreams. the moon representing either night time or a dreamland where she is no longer enduring the pain that she does during the day.
