I have two and don't know why you cut him, looked much better with the hair. Why do ppl get a dog that is supposed to have long hair and insist on cutting it?? Don't get it. Don't know too many shih tzu owners that just leave the hair the way it is meant to be!! Annoying!

its not meant to be any way, im sure you cut your hair... and the shih tzu is a great dog and hardly sheds, thats why i have one, and i dont want to spend the time cleaning him all the time and brushing, plus he is way to active, we go on trails and stuff and run all the time, long hair would get matted very fast and dirty,

@shav12 Probably because they live in a warm climate and it's a lot more comfortable for the dog and a lot easier to maintain. Anyway, it isn't up to you how a person's dog should look.

I am a groomer and think this is a very nice compromise cut for both groomers and owners. Easy to maintain yet very cute. Very cute. :)

Its funny i came across this... I'm a groomer and just gave my dog a cut really close to this one. I gave mine eye brows and a beard, thats the only diff.
