I agree!!! This is music of the highest order. Jan, Miroslav and Peter create musical magic here far beyond that of sooooooo many other well known players! I just love the decidedly euro-approach to jazz/improvising...so unafraid of a more classical/painterly approach to improvising...not an overt piss and vineger chops fiasco like so much of american jazz.

yup..yup....i heard him with kenny wheeler (tpt) a few years back (20)on another recording but did not follow jan's career.

Jan Garbarek was around when Kenny G was still using diapers (guess he still does). Check Garbarek with Keith Jarrett, Egberto Gismonti, etc...About Miroslav Vitous: his recordings with Chick Corea are simply fantastic.

Yeah, Americans love crap like Kenny G and someone with Garbarek's soul is largely unknown here despite a long list of accomplishments. Just like a faux singer like Madonna is better known than Nascimento. Just like so many dummies won't watch a film with subtitles; they just settle for crap.
