@MeAgainstTheRadio cuz your new gay shit like whiz khalifa which is "rap" is fucken shit this is the reall shit right here i miss old school hip hop and rap too foo
@porchiapridgen great but back in the 80s most cats were hustling and thats who most of the chicks wanted now the tables have turned and if your in the street your looked down on like a person with a regular job was back then!
Actually thats not quite right what @schlatton said. I was around 17-18 when this record came out and the term was big in NYC. The Vapors mean that people got a whiff or saw that your doing good now or better than before. Those same people that use to diss / disrespect you when you were down now want something from you or talks good about u now. Vapors in plain English is a scent of something, in this case the scent of success. I tell you slang is really a linguistic art form.
@MrRamto13 The Vapors means , Zero, Nothing, Zip. In other words when they came begging they were turned away EMPTY! Cathing it usually means Getting, a hard time. A lot of times it means getting a Beating!
Slang is part of any culture, if you are not living in that culture you would have difficulty making sense of it. I am sure this also apply to your culture. Even people from the same culture or region may have problems with slang from their own indigenous sub-cultures. Happy Travelling!
I got to tell you man this is really kool,I remember back in the days gettin thrown out of rock concerts and bars when I used to come in blasting this type of music in my boom box. I was the only ghetto hippy on my block.
When TJ SWAN tried to kick it she alwasy fess baby please you work for UPS SINCE he was no type of BIG DRUG DEALER my man TJ SWAN didnt appeal to her But now he trucks gold and wears fly valley boots Rough leather fashions and tough silk suits Now she stop frontin' an' wants to speak And be comin' to all the shows Every single weekend To get his cell phone number, she'd be beggin' please Dyin' for the day to get skeezed She GOT THE VAPORS...CLASSIC LYRICS.. SCREW DRAKE & lil WAYNE
when he says "well u all know dj swan, who sang on my records, made the music no-body beats the Biz well check it" sounds so dope on the beat....sick flow Biz
Before the corporate parasites saw hip hop as a money generating machine it was so pure and sacred. They have exploited, raped, and sponged this beautiful art for for every last drop and spoiled it.
@gustotron This was not exploited. No one now who thinks they are legit "artists" no matter if it rap or r&b has what it takes to write something worth saying. Takes them 10 minutes to make a catch beat and something that rhymes. Real art can never be exploited. Just no one in the big spot lights can show it.
@gustotron if you believe it is just the fault of the record labels then you have a lot of learning to do. As much blame as you want to put on the label, you need to give the same to the sell-out artists on those labels and the sheep who purchase and support those mainstream, simple simon "artists"
@bonethugbitch I never said record labels so you need to get educated and learn to read correctly before you take shit out of context. Even if what I said was directed at the labels the powers that be(the system) took something that spoke out against it and steered it away from artists with a message(PE, BDP, ect.) and realized they could profit while making it more about useless shit like clubs, ice, partying and taking attention away from real issues that affect blacks and latinos.
@gustotron This is like talking to a rock, labels are corporations and have the last say on what gets played so i'm curious which "corps" you're talking about. Again, you act like the corporations are writing the raps, it's the artist that actually writes that shit and lets it go on his album that needs to be blamed for talking about ice, and how much $ is in their pocket. PE was huge in their time, nothing was steered away from them, and Boogie Down never got as big as it could have, RIP scott
@gustotron I don't know if you are trying to make me think different or whatever. You can see shit how you want and I'll have my take on it but it wont change the fact that the garbage they pass today as rap is fabricated garbage. Don't waste your time trying to look like someone who knows it all just because you are ok with the current state of hip hop.
@bonethugbitch the labels and execs did exploit rap in its purest rawest form and realized that commercialized garbage lyrics outsold honest real life soulful lyrics with a message,so thats what they invested their time and money into.which made the majority of artists listening to radio and television believe they need fabrication and gimmicks to sell.NOW rap is entertainment mainly, not talent and not real life influenced poetry.thanx diddy, birdman, and nursery rhyme dance rappers...
@gustotron -I agree brah. It's your Typical White Behavior. These goons hated hip-hop back in the 80's and hated to even promote it calling it jungle music which animals listen to, and then once they realized that guns, bitches,ho's,beef, bling, money, strip clubs, houses, drank, murder, ect. sold,it all of a sudden became cool & marketable. brah i'm 45 & I've never heard more meaningless,pre-school,bubblegum,substance-less shit after about 1998,99. Man today's rap & r&b is so fucking shitty. KEEP IT
What happened to Mtv? Bring back "Yo!" Leave all this shit behind you see on Mtv now. Who the fuck took over that channel and turned it to shit? Some dumbass cunt, that's who.
