  • This is the BEST hair tip EVER! Hair products can not change genes. EVERYone's hair, Africans, Caucasians and Asians, grow half an inch every month. Caucasians and Asians hair look longer because duh, their hair is straight, and ours are curly. The tighter the curl the shorter it LOOKS. Relaxers, heat, tight styles damage our hair due to the fragility of our hair type. However, one can use chemical on hair depends on the natural strength of the hair but then it become SUPER high maintenance.

  • do you have a video on moisturizing your scalp ?

  • IM TRYING TO GROW MY HAIR LONG @STAY away from heat is it true that just straping water everyday with oil damageing to ur hair cause is the only way I can style for the next day

  • Continued...I know this to be the case because I am a hairstylist and I know about hair and scalp care and conditions, and also I do not use harmful products even if that is what it takes to achieve a certain look...I'm not trying to get rich. Also, as soon as I stopped going to that particular hairstylist, my hair and scalp condition normalized...I did not have those problems anymore. Thank God I was only a client for about 6 month. I was not a licensed stylist at the time, I was clueless.

  • Unfortunately some hair stylist Use a chemical to relax the texture if the hair is natural, or even relaxed with a thick, course texture. I do not know what the product is, all I know is that a chemical was used in my hair without my consent 9 years ago-for several weeks. They spray it on after shampooing, before blow drying or sitting client under the dryer. I requested flat iron ONLY. The results: dry, itchy, excessively oily scalp and shedding hair. WHAT EVER IS EASIEST FOR THEM.

  • what product did you use to severely stop the itching??

  • OMGGG!!! when you talked about your beautician cutting your BSL hair i saw red!! that makes me soo upset because i went through a similar situation with a stylist i depended on who i always thought i needed a "trim"...no one needs a trim every 2 weeks sry

  • because im in london can you tell what i can do to help my hair to start growing please

  • My parents are pastors too :)

  • WOW! Tra...I know it's about hair but you have me shouting and crying over here...My hair has been a "problem" for years...I have gone through so much and youu are soooo right when you talk about your health being the driving force behind healthy hair...I look at pictures when i was a full time cheerleader and dancer and my hair was AWESOME...not as long as I wanted but healthy becuse I was healthy. My hair journey begins today as I am taking out a sewin...pray for me and GOD BLESS YOU!!!

  • @divine1996 ... Congrats on the start of your hair journey !!!! Yes healthy hair skin and nails starts from the inside

  • How did you get rid of the itchy scalp??

  • how long was your hair journey???

  • This is one of the best videos I have ever seen...I am newly natural and this is my first viewing...I know this was made in 2009...but it has made me realize that if i start taking care of my body...my hair will follow...Thanks

  • this was really inspirational. thank you :)

  • What suppliments did you use ?

  • @BonnyTeeJay what are they ?

  • @BonnyTeeJay im in london but you can use omega 3

  • oops... i guess i shouldve watched the whole vid first lol

  • Hi Traycee, You were too cute, I just want to give you a big thank you, I am 8 weeks post, and I cant believe how soft my new grwoth is, thanks to you. I am so happy to see that I can actually do this I wil be telling all who will listen about you. Thanks again and God Bless!!

  • You have such a nice spirit. I am on my way to mid back and I'm all natural. I love your advice keep up the good work.

  • @Suppermom6 .... Thank you for your support

  • what suppliments did you take

  • So i guess that was a myth about black women not being able to grow hair past their shoulders because her ass is draping !!!! her hair is really healthy in very long

  • Hi Tracy, I just thought of another question. What do with your hair at night? I have shoulder length hair and I wrap it every night. Thanks again.

  • Thanks again, you are such an inspiration for me. Our journey starts today! We are going to the beauty supply store to get a good blow dryer and CHI products or something to protect the hair from heat. Like you I had very thick hair a little past my shoulders when I was younger and as I have gotten older and with all of the abuse my hair is thinner and certainly not as thick. I want length and healthy now!

  • Hi Tracy, I have another question. I saw on one of your videos that you do your own relaxer. When you stretch your relaxer do you press your roots or just use the blow dryer and flat iron?

  • @sassy21gg ...Honeslty I really don't do either... I do up do's like I did in a recent video about how I slick down my edges 6 months post or I do a style that blends with my newgrowth like braid out or bantu knot set.. Now when I do decide to wear a straight style during a stretch which isnt often.. I air dry..Blow out my roots then flat iron

  • Thanks again. This is my second try with Carol's daughter. I will check out the CHI after I finish this batch. I do like some of her products. I have to get something to protect our hair from blow drying and flat ironing.

  • @sassy21gg ...Yes your right.... I love CHI whenever I use heat I use that line

  • Thanks Tracy. I am hooked on watching your videos because I do not, I repeat do not want to go natural! So my daughter and I will start to take care of our hair and see how long it grows. Today starts our journey. What do you think of Carol's daughter products?

  • @sassy21gg ...Thanks for watching... Carols Daughter is ok.. I wasn't that excited about them.. If you were trying to go more natural products check out Bee Mine..There is always a discount code on the main page of KISS and Giovanni is a great line also

  • The way you're on it with you hair, I am no it with my skin. Get it, girl!

  • I'm a black woman and I can't grow my hair long. I have read and followed many tips on LHCF and hair blogs, but nothing works. I feel so unlucky :'(

  • Thank you so much for this video!!! I'm really glad you re-uploaded it and I am definitely going to check your blog out too.

  • Hi did you get a trim when you started your hair journey

  • Thanks for caring enough to share your journey and your great encouragement and info*

  • wow she's very pretty

  • wow she is very pretty

  • i kno i must hav watched this video so many times bcuz U R TRULY AN INSPIRATION TO ALL BLACK WOMEN..everything u said n this video is so relative to each and every Black girl/women struggling w/ taking care of their hair..

everytime ifeel like i need encouragement i watch these hair journey videos..THANKS SO MUCH

  • @Jaybabii2 ... Awww Thank you it means a lot to me to hear that

  • thanks so much for inspiring me. :)

  • @KISSsseventyseven....Pt.2

well i dealt with the short hair for a while but it just kept getting shorter ! and then my freshman yr of highschool i died it black and gavce myself a relaxer that same day !! And ALOT of my hair burned off everywhere. i had bald spots on the sides and my hair wa just BAD. i have no more bald spots but its still short. ADVICEEEE ? (: any will be very helpful. thankssss(:

  • @panooch04 castor oil will grow it. It seeps down to 12 layers of skin, disinfects the scalp and removes dead skin. In a week, I could already see lots of baby hair grow out the front. If your hair is dry, you will be able to apply it daily without looking weirder than gel.

  • @KISSsseventyseven....

im 15 yrs old haha and i have no idea wat im doing with my hair ! im half samoan half black and when i was young i had thick armpit lenght hair. i started straightening it alot in intermediate school & around seventh grade my hair went to shoulder length. it thinned out too and i was getting more relaxers. my mom took me to the shop lol cause she got tired of seeing my hair get thinner and thinner. when i went he shopped it up in to a baub !!! it

  • Great video!

  • see.... f that. Im not going to a hair dresser lol

  • great video! Keep in touch I'm on my hair growth journey as well. Thanks!

  • Thank You Traycee! I was once a believer that u can't grow relax hair pass arm pits, even when I went to the hair salon very week this semester. I just join KISS n Im so excited!

  • I take supplements too, if I dont my hair wont grow.

  • So glad to hear someone say that beauticians sometimes are the cause the stunt in the growth of ethnic hair. It just that some of do not want to see us with long hair. You are definitely an inspiration toward my hair journey...post recent video would like to see the length of your now...Thanks for sharing

  • what supplements do you use?

  • I really love this video

  • you are so pretty!

  • @sunlovedulce ..Thank you

  • I live in England and there aren't alot of black communities around, some but not many. For years, just to fit into this white society, i did so much damage to my hair trying to make it straight. I've not long started my hair journey and your videos have really inspired me! I can't wait to show everyone that black people CAN grow long hair if taken care of properly.

I want to stop using heat on my hair completely. Braids outs are fine but are there any more styles you could suggest? Thanks!

  • @Jerlisa1991 Depending on what city u live in u might b able to find some gd hair salons. There is a brill natural hair salon run by morris roots in edmonton (notrh ldn) and tone in S ldn too.

  • what supplements do u suggest?

  • @lapearla1: There is a Hevnawe Naturopathic regimen for hair. It isposted on my channel in the comment section, but will only remain posted for a few days only.

  • i understand the part about the supplements n i usually hear about them in pill form which is a problem for me. i cannot swallow pills jus cant do it idk y but it jus doesnt happen 4 me. wat do u suggest bcuz i kno im not eating healthy or drinking enough water n im trying 2 plan out wat 2 do 4 my hair journey

  • I agree with you regarding this. I am currently taking supplements. This is so true!

  • I agree with you that "products" should not be the only thing credited to growing one's hair...you are right on with taking care of your body, eating right, and drinking lot's of H2O. Your hair will grow based on how you take care of it. I believe this whole heartedly and my hair is currently at arm-pit length.

  • I love your videos! You are such an inspiration.

  • ooooo the itchy scalp i've had that for years growing up as a child, but no more. Time with patience grows your hair.

  • MAY GOD BLESS U

    THANK U !!!

KEEP UP GOOD WORK NO ONE CAN DO IT BETTER

  • I 've enjoyed your videos. I'm looking for advice regarding growing out healthy hair. My hair is currently cut in a diagonol forward which reaching my chin. This is not necessarily my style of choice; however, with the current state of my hair, I needed a decent style. Years of damage with color, too many relaxers, damaging styles (microbraids). Now my hair sheds constantly and I have a couple of bald patchesin my hair. Blood pressure medicine and poor diet only aided the damage. PLEASE HEL!

  • each one teach one!!! i love that concept!! what did u do for the severe itchy scalp? i suffer from that too. i got micros last winter, and although my hair grew like a weed, my scalp was ate up. I literally had sores. i thought i might have psorisis (sp). i know in the winter the hair and scalp can be dry and having braids it was had to moisturize well.....what worked for u?

  • I agree with you 100% - the right products will help you retain length, not grow your hair. Your hair will grow, unless you have some kind of health condition hindering that.

But the products we use are essential in my opinion. In my experience products with chemicals, silicones etc, they dont work for me anyways. They coat the hair and when they are shampooed off, your hair hasnt been nourished at all. The right natural products will penetrate and nourish.Exercise benefits the skin immensely

  • EVERYTHING YOU SAID going from itching, to the hairdresser cutting your hair shorter is what has happened to me NOW!!! My hairdresser has told me its down to the early menopause? I'm scratching my head so much that I'm getting bald patches and breakage! I'm also trawling the internet and have found that cider vinegar with rosemary and tea tree oil is stopping the itching for short periods. My goal is to keep it growing rather than the hairdresser cutting it shorter.

  • @VeeBee81 Have you tried miconazole?

  • What relaxer/perm do you use and is there is a difference between relaxer and perm

  • target sells sublements that grow nails and hair.

  • its stories like these that keep me out of the beauty shop, and i never thought about taking the supplements cause i hate pills but if it will help then i will do it. i also noticed when i worked out my hair grew like grass on a spring day but when i stopped working out and let stress take over i had horrible shedding. thats why im trying so hard to just let my hair grow

  • Hi,

I am fairly new to your channel and I think your videos are terrific! Not to mention I think your hair is beautiful. I was wondering do you have any tips for broken out edges? I think it is due to wearing my hair wrapped to bed every night for several years. If you have this topic posted in a video and I missed it---I apologize--just point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

  • I couldn't have long hair that's almost to the waist like you. I use to when I was a little girl I kept asking my mom to cut it so by 5th grade my hair was a little pasted shoulder length. And in middle and high school I just fried my hair with flat irons almost daily and it never grew very much but now I am on my healthy hair journey. My goal is about maybe bsl or a little shorter. But you do have beautiful hair!

  • I soo agree with that last statement. I'm actually a new member to KISS (Day 3 of my journey lol) but I really wanted my friends and my mom to join me in it and they all kinda didnt take it seriously.. Once the results come maybe they'll listen!

  • what is your ID on longhaircareforum...I'm a member and would like to add you if that is ok...thank you

  • THANK YOU! my hair is thick and natural and apl and people always ask me what product do i use to get my hair so thick and i keep telling them just take good care of your hair and if they see me with some sort of product they still go and buy it -.-"

  • I've only been on YT a few months, and have been obsessed with the vids on LFW, but came across vids on long black hair journeys, and I have to say your vid was the first I actually wanted to comment on. You words are inspiring! I don't ever think I've watched a video, and was shaking my head in agreement and saying "yep, yep...that's right"....Thank you!

  • Thank you for sharing your tips. This video made me a little emotional because I know what it feels like to constantly have an itchy scalp. I really had issues in the crown area. I've tried every anti itch product but nothing worked. I went to a dermatologist last year in May and he told me that I had alopecia and then he gave me to prescriptions to help stop the itching. The medicines worked great because I no longer have an itchy scalp and my hair has grown a lot within the past year

  • About how long did it take you to grow your hair out from shoulder length to where it is now?

  • This a fantastic video mamita. Thanks for making it. I have so many friends that have beautiful long hair and I have a ton more that just dont believe that is is truly about how you treat you hair. It doesnt matter if you are black white indian asian or purple if you take care of it it will get better.

  • A beauitician cut my hair 2 . . lol . . .Thanks for sharing this!

  • Thank you for this very inspirational video . Yes we can grow long hair.

  • My daddy is a pastor too!

  • Seems as though the problems is is that beauticians do not kno the science behind hair. But its glad to see everything worked out.

  • What type of oils do you use?

  • I call those stylists that chop off hair Scissor happy stay away from them..The myth is we cant grow long hair tell them, we need to stick together because no one else is going to help us. i just started my journey I will be reviewing all your videos and forum today!!! Thank you and god bless

  • you motivated me, i needed to start back taking care of my body.. I thank God for you! continue to do this. Wow! can't tell you how much it means.

  • I with you, I hate it even now, I get great growth and lenght and they always cut it off when I only want a trim I hate it!

  • finally a women who understand that products cannot grow ur hair longer. my hair is almost bra length and people wonder what i use to grow my hair. i took vitamins and use protein to get the same result. well done. ladies really need to listen to u. thanx for the honesty.

  • What kind of supliments did you use.

  • ur such a beautiful, inspiring & positive person. thank you sister maybe soon I can attain my hair goals as well :) i'm currently shoulder length

  • My gosh, the same thing happened to me. I was on holiday for a wedding, She ''trimmed' my hair and curled it, The next day I did the same style I had been doing the whole holiday and my hair was gone... it was upsetting! All natural now, I'm doing it myself now!

  • What are you using for the itchy dry scalp? I suffer from extremely dry scalp too. I have been using tea tree oil and it helps a little bit.

  • If we help each other and teach one another we can grow healthy hair... What a beautiful sentiment.

  • I think your awesome and you right we all can have healthy long hair.

  • blackwomen can have long hair too, just stay away from the chemicals

  • @iseethruyou11 we can have long hair with chemicals also

  • Thank You!

  • Thank You!

  • ur beautician was probably jealous. how does cutting of that much length of your hair stop shedding.i luv ur hair though. i have serious shedding. what should i do

  • @china2207 ...I just uploaded a video about shedding..Check it out

  • @china2207

beauticians in general are known for getting too scissor happy

  • You are so beautiful and your hair did great too

  • Wow...This video is really powerful! You pretty much covered everything. I especially liked when you mentioned how we should all help and support each other. I've learned so much from other women (on YouTube and other sites) who shared their stories and progress. Thanks for the videos :).

    Holiday blessings.

  • I have been though all that you have mentioned, it is identical to my hair story!! you are very truthful, thanks for the vids and your website! I love it.

  • Very pretty woman.

  • The funny thing is, the last time I got my hair to BSL, it started shedding REALLY BAD. I went to the stylist and she did it in the curly style. When I washed it, not only had she cut my hair DRASTICALLY...it was very uneven. So, I feel your pain.

  • Thank you Miss Tracy. You are such a woman. All your info and all your videos are so helpful. I was thinking how can I slack off heat and still have my hair straight? So I said let me see what Tracy does lol. Thank thank thank you for helping us.

  • This is a very informative video. I love your blog site. Thanks for sharing so much information. I love your makeup and hair color in this video.

  • Hi there, loved the video. Thanks so much for sharing it.

  • Girl, you said it. I'm glad that you told women that it takes a multi-pronged approach to achieve long, black hair. You also were quite eloquent and to the point in your approach. Thanks Traycee. Merry Christmas.

  • That was beautiful Tracy!!1

  • Great vid Tracey. Thanks so much for hard work in making these vids. I learne alot from you and I can definately realate to you seeing you get relaxers as well. Keep up the good work.

  • Bravo!!

  • Glad you decided to start your own hair care. How does a hair cut stop shedding is beyond me. So ya that would have been it for me also.

  • Pretty Good Video!

  • Good to see you on here you too make great videos.

  • I remeber when you were like BSL its so crazy. You've come so far! !The first bideo I've ever saw of you was your bun with the 3 twists. Your an inspiration. I'm like almost APL an its the longest my hair has ever been, my issue is the split ends and shedding..

  • Hehehehe,....I don't even be trying to be funny

  • what supplements did you take?

  • I took just a woman's mega vitamin, MSM, Biotin, Fish Oil...

    Thats it !!!!

  • Your hair jouney is very inspiring . Thank you so much for creating KISS

    Nina05 (Kiss)

  • I agree!!! "Products do not grow your hair"

  • i'm going to post this as mor prof that Tracee speaks the truth.

I was shoulder length like forever! Then I started adding more moisture based products and used protein cons on my hair. I also took a daily multi vitamin, drank water (though not as much as I should), and started exercising a few times a week and now I'm Waist Length!

So, if you want long hair, listen to this lady!!

  • Thanks ....Taking care of your body first makes the difference !!!

  • how long did it take to grow it to waist length after working out and drinking water?

  • She's right!

I was shoulder length most of my life!

I got introduced to hair cair through Cathy Howe's UBH and than moved on to LHCF.

I used protein conditioners and moisturisers on my hair, and I also exercised during the week, drank water (don't drink as much as i should), and took a daily multi vitamin. Now i'm waist length!

Just giving more proof that what Tracee is saying is the truth!

  • great video tray!

  • Fantastic video! Thank you Traycee:)

  • Love your videos girl -- now that I think back, i competed in a fitness show about five years ago and my hair grew like whoa in nine months! It was shiny and long and my nails were beautiful too. Now that I am back on track with y health, I am aiming to do another fitness goal - running a marathon.. and I hope to regain a good health regimen that will also help me achieve my hair goals. Great support! Thank you -- kisses!

    Lina40 from KISS

  • I want to do a small 5k soon !!!

  • Hi Traycee,

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing a wealth of information on you tube. You are truly an inspiration to get healthy-body, hair, skin and spiritually. Your desire to help women is a true testament of your great character. Some people stand on the corner and preach "Get right or go to hell". You upload videos and blog and to me that shows Jesus's love in the kindest way.

    Blessings,

    LadyAlways

  • i really really have itchy scalp too it really gets on my nerves what did you do about that?? i guess you didnt metion that in the vid if yea im sorry heehe....& thanks for sharing your experience!!!

  • Preach sista!!! Great informative video!!!

  • I am educating all the women in my family. the first few people i told about my journey with thought i was crazy and just had too much time on my hands. But they are now asking questions, lol. I use supplements too but sparingly because i want to eat better not take pills to supplement a poor diet. I loove your videos and all the information you have to give keep it up!

  • I soo agree with you on the family part I'm the youngest of 5 sisters (I'm 26) they all did my hair when I was little even gave me my 1st relaxer! They tried to claim I had "good" hair until I reminded them how it was when I was younger, when they asked I told them what I did they said the same thing they don't have time and so on! But now that my hair is longer they are starting to ask ???'s and even want me to do their hair! I got them all hood dryers for X-mas!

  • great video traycee!!!!

  • Wow. What can I say Traycee? You're AWESOME! Thanks so much for being who you are and thank you for KISS!

    Tinker Bell (on Kiss)

    Tink (on BHM)

  • amen traycee!

  • Great vid! I think it's very important to reiterate so much of what you have stated. Trims vs. cuts, products and their purpose as opposed to these false "growth" claims, treating your internal body right, etc. Anyone can do this if they choose. There are way too many defeatist attitudes out here. Once again, great vid. :) :)

  • lol, right for "products don't grow hair"

you are a true inspiration & testimony ! be blessed always

    mwaaaah

    Nunaa - KISS

  • SO TRACYEE....WHAT DIDYOU DO TO STOP THE ITCHING? I HEARD U SAY THIS BEFORE AND I DO NOT KNOW WHAT WAS THE ANSWER? HELP (brokesocialite_ on your site)

  • I'm getting tons of emails asking this very question since I posted this video last night...So I'm going to get a video up this week explaining how I treated my scalp

  • proper hair care and learning to take care of one's hair and its needs taked precedence over any products used.. and sometimes I forget that not everyone is as informed and they will just assume there is some secret product out there.

  • 'Products do not grow your hair' . completely true, there was a woman earlier this week that asked me what secret product I used on my hair to get it so long, and I told her that I just take care of my hair -wash, condition, low manipulation. Yet she just kept pushing to find out what particular "secret" product I was using.

Before my hair care journey, I used to ask such questions to women whose hair I admired. But once I became educated and informed about hair care the idea of ..

  • hahahahaha.....Yes i used to ask people that same questions....when people ask me now...I explain its not a simple question to answer and I direct them to KISS..hahaha

  • on point as usual!

  • I will check out your blog because I want to grow my hair out to be healthy like yours.

  • double YaY! I'm a PK too! GIrl, i have had several beauticians who were unable to comprehend the word "trim" as opposed to "cut" too. LoL!. I enjoyed this vid. thank u!!!

  • PK'S unite !!!!! Hahahaha

  • Great Great Great Video

  • Well Spoken!!!

  • Yay! I'm a PK too!! I knew there was a special light about you! ;) But in all seriousness, ur Blog/Kiss has helped me soo much!

My younger sis has gone natural, and my older sis and mom has taken over the care of our hair!! I was extremely upset when my mom's beautician put relaxer on her hair while it was wet! Her whole front edges broke off!! Talk about upsetting!! I said that's it! We are now doing our ow
