  • people show some respect and rise for youtube's national anthem

  • i remeber going to the video store to rent this game every weekend never finished it but i loved it so much im gonna try to finish it on emulator

  • It's in Japanese...

  • Man my childhood... and by extension my whole life has been influenced by this game. Truly one of the greatest of all time.

  • coolroms version + rice's video edit for project 64 = fastest and easiest way to get it working that i know of

  • anyone else notice that romhustler doesn't work?

  • @LordBlk It works fine for me

  • @veget00tegev that's strange, but not a single rom I have downloaded form that site seems to be in the proper format of something. I mean i can download the same thing with coolroms.

  • obrigado tbm este video me ajudou muito a achar este emulador e o tal do site onde se faz donwloads

    vlw mesmo! :)

  • @Maxusart1 Where did you find all those at? Can you message me the sites? I need to get those. I got major lag on my P64 somehow...

  • Still trying to figure out how to make Ogre Battle 64 actually "WORK" on Project64 ... :(

  • No kidding. I hope they make a new flashy Ogre Battle for a Next Gen system and combine the best parts of the original Ogre Battle and Ogre Battle 64.

By the way, I'm having the most difficult time trying to get an emulator to work for Ogre Battle 64... which I know is a problem but some people have gotten around it. I just can't seem to get third party plugins to work with Project 64.

    Any ideas?

  • I had this game for a while now but i had my N for longer and it still plays the game had some trouble starting it up first but it still works lol Had the N for about 6 or 7 years.

  • I could just cry thinking about how I don't love this game like I used to :(

  • @PaulosTheKing

Why not? I used to play it as a kid and liked it, now I like it on even more levels than before (since I can concept strategy and whatnot now, lol). What's there not to like?

  • @veget00tegev I used to play it religiously, the problem I have with it especially is ... really there's not much else to do after you get the characters, form your storyline and CF, and get to the last scene well it's not like Tactics Ogre for GBA, or Final Fantasy Tactics for PSX/PSP where when you move around the map you meet up with random enemies/etc... you know the random encounter system? All you can do is ... train... it's like you need a guide with you to do things right, like at Alba..

  • I love Ogre Battle 64, never could get it to run on my N64 Emulator though :(

  • Did this game allready come on the virtual console for the Wii? I have this on n64, but cousin wants to play it.

  • @MagicYardstick

Sadly, no. I don't think it's ever planned to be released.

  • @veget00tegev Actually, it was released just last month, I believe! (March of 2010).

  • @veget00tegev True story. And it's super cheap too. Only $10!! (Well, whatever that is in points... I don't have a Wii.)

  • @TheOriginalJealot

Ooh. I bought super mario 64 that way. would be awesome to play it. hope its a direct port w/o small updates in any gfx/etc, though. still, i like being able to browse the net playing ogre battle on the same screen ;P speeds up battles :D

    thanks for telling me <3

still would like to see a remake, though.

  • thanks for ruining a great game video with one of the worst songs ever made.

  • @DaftBrian

The copyright forced me to change the audio. I was thinking about muting it but never got around to it. This originally had We're only making plans for nigel by XTC..

  • atlus dosent seem interessed on creating any more ogre battle games after the gameboy one..maybe didnt payed enough :(?still they remind one of best tactic creators around,i would tear blood for a DS version XD!! one of best game evaaaar!(well with some other tactic/rpg games (: )

  • I would buy a DS for this game.

  • How is yours in English? I got the Japanese one too like everyone else.

  • emulators are lame

  • Uncalled for

  • this is my favorite game ever!

  • Same here!

  • ugg ok i unzipped the file but the shit is in like japanese, how do i put the game in english? please answer

  • how do u unzip a file without buying winzip or something, cause i got the emulator and need to unzip the rom plz help

  • lrn2 free trial, either winrar or winzip

  • @bengalbengalbengal 7-zip Best program ever! Free also!

  • tactics ogre is better than sex.

  • ._. I think i will just buy it for the N64 tomorrow from the used game bin.

  • LOL, i got the game but not the system. Dammit. I need to hurry up and get paid so i can buy the sustem fro $25 bones of this fucking kid next door. lol

  • good luck finding it in a bin

  • How does thsi compare to the SNES and PS1 games?

  • I haven't played either, sorry :(

  • This is kind of a hard game to find emulators for because of the size of the the game and the massive content including multiple endings, different level (path) options, and huge mini quests (dragoon class) it is probably best to try multiple emulators.

I have one emulator and the actual game so to me it doesn't make much of a difference for poor quality emulator but if you don't have the game keep looking for a good emulator....

Nice video dude I'll give you a 5 star

  • I got a emulator for this game, it was only about 35 mb, which isn't a lot....

  • I haven't played my emulator in a couple months...

  • why is this video widescreen? never seen it on youtube before

  • change you graphics plugin

  • Hey srry for bad english but i must ask what u did to play this game, cuz i cant!! ive tried with 1964, pj 1.6 and now with project 1.7 the new version, the game in 1.6 ver always freezes with every scene of conversation, ingame action is ok.

With project 1.7 everything seems to work till the 2nd level called "sparks" cuz when i reach it and loads, project 64 just die =(

Im gonna install ur project64 version, anyway i hope i get ur help with this amazing game :D

  • i use project64 1.7 and works great, wich graphic and sound plugin do you use?, i have jabo's direct3d 8 1.7.0.55 and jabo's directsound 1.7.0.4

  • Hey everyone, I've tried OB with PJ64 and always had the black battle screens, but now I've figured it out... at least for me it works.. I'm using the latest PJ64, and the plugins I'm using are: Mudlord's Rice video build 6.1.4

    Azimer's HLE audio v0.56 WIP 2

    N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V21.83

so far I've been playing for a few hours and NO BLACK BATTLE screens! Finally :-)

Hope this helps some people.. I have no probs with the game now.

Oh, and that XTC tune takes me back ;-)

  • @Postradamus Ahhh but how did you solve that the game laaaaaaags after awhile? At least for mine it does. Like..it works fine for a bit, then goes so effin slow for awhile. Then is ok, then lags again. How did you solve that? Can you message me those plugins? (quite possibly where you can find them too) I need to find a site where they're at. Thank you sir. :]

  • Yeah I downgraded to the 1.5.2 or whatever and it runs at a smooth 60 fps with an occasional slmall hiccup, and the background is only gone some times... I've come not to notice it now - enjoying the game too much =P

Thanks so much again for providing the links!

  • Hey thanks a ton for the links, I had been wanting to play this so badly but I never did own the original game - I just rented it alot.

I do have a question though - when I'm running with the Jabo 3D8 1.6, the FPS drops down to about 40 and the music and video gets really choppy... any tips, or am I doomed to play with a black background?

  • Not sure exactly. You can try using a program to speed up your computer, or just play with the other plugin. My background 'sometimes' is messed up, but for the most part it looks fine without any special plugins and runs at a good speed.

Just switch options until you get a good constant ~60 FPS, and it should be fine.

  • Took you long enough to post the link lol. You should include the links in the description so 1) We don't have to type the long address and 2) in case the links stop working. Thanks for the link, I actually own this game and beat it 4 times..Theres still a lot about this game that I don;t know about and learn everytime I play. last emulator I downloaded didn't work, fept freezing, hopefully have no problem with this one. thanks again.

  • no problem :)

also i added links into description now.

  • damn how do you get a lot of gath?

  • there is a cheat in the game to get max amount of it

  • what is the cheat plz?

    what emulator do u use?

  • it says in the video that i use Project 64 :|

  • oh... hey me too!

  • what is the cheat?

  • Ya man, stop avoiding it man. Just tell us the cheat already, just joking. Just use google to find cheats.

  • It's a built-in cheat with the built-in cheat code thing. I don't know the code or anything, I think the Emulator uses some Genie program.

  • nice video, this game was the shit. sucha great game, i wish it would come out for the computer or XBox 360 or sumthing, i would play it for sure.

  • Aye. It'd be great if it came out for wii marketplace (since its a n64 game), and possibly even extended on XBL or something.

  • itll be great if this game comes out on the DS too ^^ id shed tears of joy~

  • yeah man its so fucking awesome man and the systems actually pretty deep for an n64 game its a fuckin awesome game

  • go to the listed URL at the end for romhustler.

    near the top it says:

"Game Console / System: Nintendo 64

Game Name: Ogre Battle 64 - Person of Lordly Caliber

ROM Filename: Ogre Battle 64 - Person of Lordly Caliber.7z"

then below that is a few ads (about 4 i believe), and a button that says Download This Rom.

Click that, and wait about 15 seconds. A button above the picture ad and below the 4 text ads says Click Here To Start Your Download.

  • lol interesting unit arrangement... never seen one like it... but why did you have a beast master and not a dragon tamer? XD

  • This was when I was first starting the game, I had little known knowledge on unit placement. Now I wouldn't create such an absurd unit :P

This was also when I was trying to level up units in the beginning of the game, so I didn't have many advanced units like a form of a dragon tamer.

  • hahaha oh... I gotta admit when I first started I had horrible unit arrangements.

Like this example I found on my n64 save the other day XD

    front

    ----- DrgMa -----

    DrgMa FCen* DrgMa

    ----- DrgMa -----

    DrgMa = Dragon Master

    FCen* = Europea

Lol I guess I wanted a female swordsman unit? XD

  • Europea? Don't know that unit, lol. I still have yet to beat the game. I keep going and training and/or re-searching areas for new monsters and such to use. I am only in about scene 31.

I have a problem with this game though..everybody..EVERYBODY is chaotic all the way. So I have no way of getting priests (next level up cleric?). Being stuck with clerics sucks lol.

  • Also:

Right now I have a all level 98 group (only people i train, took forever! yay for 2xp from fights lol) with this:

    front

    ----- Cereb -----

    ----- ----- -----

    Siren Cleri Lich

    Cereb= Cerebus

    Cleri= Cleric

It's great because they use inferno(i think?), it's dark and fire/earth/something and does a lot of damage while putting to sleep/paralyzing.

Sorry for half-hearted information but I havent played in a while.

  • lol I can tell you're gunna get the bad ending. XD not that its that bad-- everyone gets it the first time because you don't know the Chaos Frame exists or how to raise/lower it. Most people get a score of 0 by the end-- and judging by that overpowered unit that you probably use everywhere you've probably captured every town instead of liberating XD

  • oh well who cares aobut the ending u get u can watch them on youtube anyways its funner rigging up a unit and wiping out entire armies and units like biske and the blackknight guy are fun to use blackknights r ownage but yeah i like getting the zenobians too thi game has alot of replay value lol

  • zenobians?

  • destin n shit are zenobians

  • btw you must have skipped over Europea because you should have had her by now. Don't worry about it though cause she isn't that special. She's a female centrieon who gets an extra attack in each row and better stats than a normal one. Still, she isn't worth crying over.

  • ogre battle is an amazing game, the video was slightly annoying though, (at least partially because of the music) but still, great job.

  • Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata made a fantastic score for Ogre Battle 64, though Final Fantasy Tactics is enormously better in my opinion.

Too bad the music volume was too low. This song doesn't seem to convey the essence of the battle very well at all.

  • Well, to be honest, I didn't really think of a meaning of a song or type of song to go with the battle, I kind of quickly got a song from my iTunes and just put it on there.

Next time if I use music I'll keep in-game reference to the song in mind :)

I've never actually played Final Fantasy Tactics, it does look good though, so I may try it out.

  • Cool.

On FFT, it isn't merely 'good'... it's mindblowing. It's one of the few games I can go back to again and again and pick up something new in regards to interpreting characters, their intentions and story.

The gameplay takes a bit of getting used to, but offers great tactical action.

    I promise you won't be disappointed. :)

  • Have you ever played Disgaea? I am a big fan of both 1 and 2 of those games and FFT has looked somewhat like those.

    Maybe they are similar :D?

  • I disagree entirely with FF tactics being better. I played and beat FF tactics and when I beat the final boss I was like....oh wait...I just won? The game was good no doubt but it left me feeling vastly empty, as if there was so much that could have been done and with so little time to do it. then I heard of ogre battle series, i played the first one and loved it 10 times better than ff tactics.

  • As much as I love XTC, I wish I could've heard the game's actual music.

  • the music in the game is OK and all, nothing special or anything, but I tried to originally put in the normal sounds but for some reason it was way too low and i couldn't turn it up. just figured that putting in a song would be better than no music/sound at all.

  • Dude, you sure? It's FFT's composer, and the music in that game is fan-fuckin'-tastic.

  • FFT? final fantasy tactics? if so, never played it before.

i like more music in games like techno, something like Command & Conquer music, love that. also really like castlevania music.

but then again i never really bothered to sit down and listen to OG64's music, maybe i will sometime now :P

  • Castlevania's got some really good stuff. Command & Conq...You know I actually have that sitting in my closet- I've never actually played it, though.

But, I've really gotta try and find this game somewhere. Ogre, I mean.

  • I never really liked C&C until Red Alert and beyond that. I havent seen Ogre Battle 64 (at a store) in a long time, but I had gotten it a while ago, when the N64 was just coming out :P

I might make another Command & Conquer video of my almost maxed out group, lvl97/99 i do believe, but they often get owned in training fights lol.

  • I didn't even know it existed until a couple years ago. I'd rather not play it on an emulator- the only I thing I ever did use an emulator for was Radical Dreamers(It's the only way to play that).

  • same here with the SNES version, never knew about it. and ive never heard about Radical Dreamers. I use emulators a lot to play the old classics :P

  • I agree Veg. There are some good tunes, but except for a few tracks (mainly the MotBQ tunes), OB64's music isn't all that great. The sound quality was nice, but the tunes lacked the distinctiveness the SNES game had.

  • ive never played the SNES version, I only heard about it when i searched Ogre Battle here, on YouTube :P

btw when i said C&C video of my amost maxed out group, i meant OB64 :D

  • i name a rom at the end of the video

  • it sometimes has bg picture sometimes not for me.

i use the emu and rom link i showed in the vid.. Project64.

    Im using all Jabo plugins.

    Video:

    Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6

    Audio:

    Jabo's DirectSound 1.6

    Input:

    Jabo's DirectInput7 1.6

  • 2 quetions.

1- How did you manage to get the background picture?

2- wich emu do you use and wich plugins?

    thx

  • Keep in mind this is at like, the very beginning of the game. I beat it already so I restarted it.
