  • I definately remember this show

My Brother and I use to watch this on FAM (now abc family)

My all time favorite episode is from the very 1st Season and it was entitiled "The Case of the Broken Record and my favorite part that I LOVE was when Casey played by Deborah Theaker played the Baritone Saxophone and she was even great on the Piano

They don't make good shows like they use to, and plus, abc family was good and now, it's a bunch of nonsense, IMO

Come on FAM, Get Your Act Together

  • I remember being SO stoked about the tv show.. I loved the game as a kid. When I finally got around to watching it..I was like, WTF? Nothing to do with the game, not even close!

  • ..Did this have ANYTHING to do with the game?

  • What the hell is this shit????????? Has nothing to do with the game!!! This song makes me want to puke and kill kittens. Fail.

  • This song makes me want to set my computer on fire.

  • such a great intro song... ive always loved it

  • Damn, this was one awesome show. I especially loved it when it got all meta-referential.

  • @dougascott ...that should've never have been called 'Maniac Mansion'.

  • Depressingly lame series... should've never existed.

  • Hey! is Kathleen Robertson!! I remember her from Beverly Hills 90210!!!

    She was Claire!! :D

    AWESOME!!!

    I LOVE that girl ♥♥♥ :3

  • Maniac Mansion is a Canadian science fiction/family sitcom very loosely based on the LucasArts video game of the same name. The series, filmed entirely in Toronto, Ontario, was produced by Atlantis Films for The Family Channel in the United States and YTV in Canada, and aired for three complete seasons. There were 66 30-minute programs in all. The plot of the show is loosely based on the 1987 computer game Maniac Mansion, with several liberties being taken with the characters and stories :D wiki

  • I'd rather capture that stupid little fly guy and feed him to my pet bearded dragon! YUM! >-)

  • Game > TV series

  • wtf !!!??? maniac mansion series ??!!! ridiculous. used 2 play it on my commodore 64 back in the days ...muhahahahah

  • Because a talking fly and giant baby are better than man-sized walking tentacles, right?

  • @ShyGuyXXL No fucking way!!!!

  • @MsLurkerwolfens Notice the irony? ;)

  • @ShyGuyXXL Yes! Epic Failure they did! X3

  • @MsLurkerwolfens They probably weren't able to make tentacle costumes XD

  • @ShyGuyXXL That too. <_<

  • @ShyGuyXXL Giant baby? More like giant retard! He's more like Weird Ed except he's Special Ed without a helmet on. *mimics Special Ed from "Crank Yankers"* I GOT MAIL, YAAAAAAAAAAY! I GOT MAIL, YAAAAAAAAY! XP

  • @MsLurkerwolfens not cool bro... not cool

  • @1020Shane Neither are you cuz you sound like a n00b.

  • @MsLurkerwolfens Funny thing about the actor who played Tanner, he would go on to voice Beast on X-Men TAS. Kind of mind warping when you compare the two performances.

  • I loved this game AND this show! Brings back fond childhood memories. Thanks for posting!

  • Best NES game EVER!

  • This intro creeps me out so much/

  • What the FUCK

  • woah is that .. did they do one with live actors and everything?!? I thought it was an animated series! wow!

  • What?

  • I never played the game unfortunately being only 13, but can someone explain why the man at the end is a fly?

  • @xXGhilliedxSamuraiXx

Based on my observations entirely on this page, the episode must be "Flystruck".

  • I looked EVERYWHERE for this series. I don't think it will EVER be realeased on DVD.

  • @NewYearAustralia2009 The show didn't last long enough, unfortunately. Only 2 or 3 seasons, I think. I tried looking for it myself.

  • I use to LOVE Maniac Mansion, I watched it on CBN's Family Channel along w/Big Brother Jake and that was when FAM was in its prime, but also, my favorite on the show was Casey as she was so talented on not only the Piano, but on the Baritone Saxophone in the episode "The Case of the Broken Record", I watched it all the time on Weekends and LOVED IT, although Season 1 was THE Best, IMO

  • They really should've given the show a different name plus some other things and not pretended that it was in any way related to the game. As is, people hate it because they see it as a really dumbed down version of Maniac Mansion and it's just not the same.

  • I vaguely remember watching this show but sadly can't remember how I felt about it back then or how often I watched it...the game and the tv series pretty much have nothing to do with each other outside of - Dr. Fred (different looks though and obviously different family), meteor in the basement, and the name/title

I'd love to know how the creators of the game feel about the tv series...both have strange humor in them but the humor is different in a way for each...

  • Well I liked Maniac Mansion at least. I can't believe so many people hated it. Is it just fans of the game who didn't like that the show isn't in any way similar?

  • I agree, everyone hated Maniac Mansion! I hovever loved it! I was obsessed with playing this game for hours, beating it with different people, killing off every character to see what hapends! i loved this game!

  • @Duke1337 it may be a fine show and all but as a fan of the game this intro seems to be the exact opposite of the feel the game had so haters will hate.. and in this case its easy to see why even if theyve never actually watched the show.. so whats the show like?

  • This is odd opening. Most comdedy TV shows showed individual cast members with them doing goofy stuff and then showing who was the actor or actress who played them. This felt like a movie opening

  • are they any clips of this show online?

  • i liked this tv show back in the day.

  • It was an okay show but it had almost nothing to do with the computer game. Not even sure why they called it Maniac Mansion.

  • cause it was a nut house,,all the eposoids are lost

  • This is a twist. Normally, it's the game based off the TV show that sucks. In the case of Maniac Mansion, it's the other way around.

  • I remember how excited I was to hear about this show, being an avid fan of the game myself. It was SUCH a dissappointment.. I dont think I ever sat through one full episode. If it wasnt for the loose references to the game, (ie: the names) I wouldnt have known the two were related.

  • I totally agree. I was thrilled to hear about it being made, and I loved Joe Flaherty, but what a let down! I mean, Harry the fly? PLEASE! Although I though it was nice when Dr. Fred made mention of the TV show in "Day of the Tentacle". LucasArts always had a great sense of humor...Back in the day.

  • lol i didn't even know there was a Maniac Mansion series xD

  • anyone know where to find episodes of this? Quality isn't 100% necessary

  • This show butchered everything the game stood for.

  • too bad your such a fag that no one cares.

  • Comment removed

  • Woah! THis where the song that was in the back of my mind everytime I thought about the MM game came from! I loved this show from what little I remember. Remember when he hid from the mailman?

  • WTFF IS THAT???? this is not the commodore 64 video game, that is bizarre!!! ahaaha , lol nice, bye!

  • Goodtimes... OK DOES ANYONE KNOW THIS ONE... I've been looking for this logo forever: its at the end of some show from around then, it is a bear made out of stars and is a Canadian company. At the bottom it said something like Film Quebec or something and had the canadian flag.... SOMEONE HELP ME! :) THANKS!

  • I think you might be thinking of Nelvana Productions

  • Thanks... yeah I finally found Nelvana... but there's another one that my memory combined with Nelvana lol... it has the Aurora Borealis I think but definitely had the Canadian flag as a logo at the bottom. Thanks again.

  • Thank you so very much!

I was looking for this untro for ages!

  • Whaaaat theee... Was the game based on a TV series?

  • The TV series was based on the game. :D

  • Put some episodes up here. Ive loved the game since i was like 8 in the very early 90s but have never seen the show. im dyin to see it!

  • This is the intro theme to the old Maniac Mansion the TV series. And even here people are starting discussions about how evil the US are.

    Gimme a W, gimme a T, gimme an F.

  • Man i remember watching the re-runs of this show on the Family Channel (now ABC Family) back in the day.

The theme song seemed so much better back then.

  • I don't think they could have missed the point or feel of the game any more. It's incredible.

  • i agree.. i was thinking the same thing while watching this intro

  • What the hell are you guys talking about?

  • In one sentence you simultaneously praise your country's stability but then blame America for the worldwide economic mess its in.

If your country is so incredibly stable and in control then why is it suffering along with the rest of the world? Last I heard Canada just hit the highest unemployment rate in decades.

Everyone is going through tough times right now. Stop pointing fingers at the biggest and most convenient target and start doing something about it.

    Also, awesome show.

  • "no one hear like bush"

lol, you and he obviously went t o the same school... dolt

  • I think the theme sounds like Jane Siberry, who has a very ecclectic style. I thought it was brilliant, and LOVED this show. It was on TFC in the US back in the day. DO you know if it's available on DVD? I saw only one place offering and don't know if it's legit!

  • THERE WAS A SHOW????

  • Yes. It aired on YTV in Canada (though I'm not sure if it aired on any other channel) until '93 or '94, I think. It was in late-night reruns on the station for a few years after that.

  • tentacles :D

  • and the memories come flooding back. I miss being a kid. I LOVE this theme song. It's so pretty.

  • Very "Designing Women"-ish theme song for a show based loosely on a B-movie parodying sci-fi game, heh.

  • I was friends with Buza's nephew back when I was in public school. I watched MM back in the day and was star struck when I met him, lol. He was nice from what I remember.

  • I remember watching this a lot when it was on. Although I never could quite understand all the lyrics to the theme song...

  • I was Kiefer Pratt on this show (The stuck up neighbour with red hair) It was an awesome experience to work with such a great cast. I have great memories from it! :)

  • I remember your character, and the rest of the Pratt's moved in with the Edison family for a while, also the episode when you told George Buza's character that there was no Santa Claus, Maniac Mansion was in fact one of my favorite shows ever.

  • Awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the support!

  • It may have been misleading to name this series after the game it is slightly adapted from, but this was a great series. Full of comedy and a wonderful cast and brilliant scripts. A shame there is no DVD. Time Magazine and called it "the looniest, sweetest family comedy of the year."

  • YAY TENTACLES

  • i love this show growing up in the 90s. It used to air crazy on Ytv and even on Family Ch late nights. Ahh good old 90s.

  • does this deal with the maniac mansion video game?

  • Other than the name, I don't think it's anything to do with the game. Fred Edison is in it though. Never actually seen it but from what I've read online, it's about as unrelated to the game as it can be.

  • too bad

  • I'm sure it was good in it's own right. It's just, I've never understood why it was supposedly based on Maniac Mansion if it actually doesn't have anything in common with it other than a characters name.

  • and i think there was anything with the meteor. i think it was found under the mansion

  • Yeah, that aswell. I rember hearing about the show when I was young but never knew the details. I imagined it very diffrently lol.

  • they should have at least taken he gag with the "ed" in every name.^^

  • u know the bottom right guy kinda looks like kane from the wwe lol

  • yea with downs syndrome

  • i loved this show. does anyone know who sang the theme song? she sounds like feist (but obv. not)

  • I thought it was Jane Siberry, but I'm probably wrong.

  • It is Jane Siberry. I have the mp3.

  • Fantastic! Thanks for adding this video. Maniac Mansion was a great show and I hope to see it out on dvd sometime so I can enjoy it once again. Thanks again for the trip down memory lane!

  • kinda dissapointed. its nothing like the game...

  • Yes! Another Maniac Mansion video! Keep them coming... I really miss this show. If you have any longer clips pleeeease post them.
