And since the title says Intel, the iMac on the right is obviously a more recent 4th gen iMac, right before the titanium iMacs were released last year. You do realize that Apple switched to intel before the titanium iMacs were released last year right? A year after the G5 iMac was released, they stopped using the G5 processor and began shipping those iMacs with intel core duo processors. Last year they only redesigned the iMacs, the intel switch was long before that.

I know. Today's iMac just looks like any old flat screen display but the old iMacs like the iMac G3 were truly revolutionary in design because there were no PCs like them. Like with the iMac G3, you'd walk into a computer shop in 1998 and see all this beige everywhere and suddenly you'd see something new. Something colourful and curvy instead of beige and boxy. That's what I like about the old PowerPC based Macs.

You can buy an AirPort card off eBay for less than $100 to get wireless 802.11b in your iMac G4. As for me, I prefer to have my desktops hard wired and my portables wireless. Firstly, I save a lot of money on AirPort cards so I don't have to buy them for all the desktops I get without AirPort cards. But I like to have AirPort cards in my portables because otherwise, they're not exactly portable.

I knew people who referred to Macs as "toy computers", and I think the colorful curvy designs of the original iMac and iBook contributed to that kind of attitude. I've been a PC user since the DOS days and have used Windows since version 3. I've stuck with Windows XP for now. Last year, I bought a new laptop, and it had Vista on it. I was a little stunned at how much memory it used (600mb, after I removed all the bloatware). I didn't really see anything significant added to Vista either. I ordered XP restore CDs and have been using XP instead. I've considered buying a Mac next time I upgrade my computer.
