The version we used was the Walter Ehret translation and arrangement from 1953 (!). At measure 18, text is: "O Lord, holy Lord." Then the last verse is "Alleluia", which we sing in the Russian style, "Al - leh - lu - ih- yah." When the sops come in on the first verse, measure 10, the lyrics are: O Lord, God, Lord God almighty, We praise Thee above; O Lord, Holy Lord."
You changed the words starting in measure 18, that was an excellent move. The English translation is not very soprano-friendly: singing all those [i] vowels on high As is not recommended. The original Russian text setting is much better as all the high notes are song on [a] or open a vowels. What text did you change it to though? I couldn't really catch the words. Thanks!
