well i love the poets too and in fact at the 1st time i watched the video i liked it very much but then i began to notice in some things which you said too, and its to admit but i think you're kinda right, but what the hell POTF are my favourite band and i found another way to understand the video, starting from the title diamonds for tears and the girl if i cant have the girl i am gonna die and the rest is the journey of the sparkle that is going to kill him, that's my alt. interpretation.
You so hit it on the head. I LOVE POTF!!! You are right though: it was just a little boring--good opening, but doensn't compensate for the rest of the video...and the rest was not much to go on. I Think they are the best band to come to this date anywhere in the world (Why they're not released in USA i have no clue). If you ask me: I want to see a video of Revolution Roulette. That would be a sight to see. I imagine a kind of imagine a Fritz Lang's Metropolise Theme for that one.

I'm on the fence on this one. The best explanation I've come up with (this is pretty tenuous, but it's just my thoughts as they came out):
The vid starts and ends with the flash - everything inbetween is a snapshot of the guy's emotions. The fan is a generator which ultimately powers the microphone - showing the connection of the guy to the storm we see. Or maybe it's a message on green energy. *Ahem* The girl, who doesn't know how much he cares, who has probably just walked out of that same...
... building, sees the rain as the spark goes past, moving out from her umbrella (possibly a metaphor for her hearing the guy as he pours out his soul), looking happily into the rain (realising that she is truly loved).
Erm, and the clock / roulette wheel is maybe saying something about fate and the amount of time we have left. Or linked, through the spark, to the rooftop-guy, representing his struggle over his relationship ("Why do I turn away and run?").
