We have to put a new set of roll bars on our vehicle. Because to all bullet vehicles, new legislation has it that there needs to be a bar between your head and and a vehicle coming from the side. I thought it was crap. Till I heard someone crashed like that, now I'm not so against them.

I notice in a number of the velomobile racing what appeared to be roll bars. Are they required to be built into the race velo's?

yes, tehy are

I think so. and theres also special rules, although they very depending on the race. I think we had to have ours 15 cm above the tallest riders head when they were in the bike
