X748/9 is diesel guys... My question is why do you push the snow? Noted several times you shut off the front pto and loader the blower. Might want to consider leaving it running and stopping your ground speed to mAke chute adjustments or push snow in a pile and back up to unload the accumulation from the blower before reengaging the pto..
Thats looks like an awesome set up, I run loader and hoe for a living but I have a lot of respect for what a small machine can do, I had to watch it twice but your blower has down pressure, much better then the small tactors like my dads with a 3 point blower, I always have to go over the packed stuff a cuple times because it just dosen't scrape well, cool video
@fordfreak17 I would say the plow. With the snowblower you are just picking up the material and moving it via auger and chute. With the plow you are going to see a little bit more resistance. Just my 2 cents. And the snow differs by region.
I know I did not drive this like I should, was showing off for video, start PTO 1/2 throttle, and do not start PTO after pushing snow. But I also did not pack show prior to turning on PTO and this was a light snow, heavy and wet snow will cause me to use much more caution. But I still love the tractor.
I'm jealous of little toys like this. Getting up in the old 2090 Case is more like work. I have to be careful not to blow the dog too. Touchy subject around my neighbour as his dog went through his blower.
I was looking at your video and thought I could give you a friendly tip! You really shouldnt push the snow and then start the snowblower, it will wear out your shear bolts and its not good on the PTO. But just my 2 cents. Btw, I do work for John Deere. Good vid!
note: Would not recommend driving like I did in video and I do not when using the tractor. I admit to playing a little for the video so please keep that in mind. I have never broke a shear bolt yet and agree with your comments, thanks
Whats your favorite piece of equiment JD makes? I was looking at getting a X749 with a snow plow, its only in 54". I don't want a blower. I was wondering if you guys made a 60 inch or 66 inch? Are they compatiable?
@ry4191 Sorry for the delay, someone hacked into my account and I couldnt get in forever! No, the only front blade you could put on there is the 54". No other blade configuration is compatiable with the X748/9. And my favorite piece of euipment is on the larger scale but its the 8345RT. I say this becasue it has changed the way we farm and use technoloy in equipment. From GPS guidance to producing high horsepower while remaining consistant with todays emissions guidlines. Any more ? msg me!
How about some Summer videos? Especially how it descends grassy hills if you can. It looks like the 4WS still misses doing a 180 back on to the intended next row by a few inches. Is that right? I am getting ready to buy one of these. I have been looking online for a month or so and finally saw an X304 at my dealers today. It is larger than I expected. I figured the X304 would be more the size of the models Lowe's sells.
Summer Video would be nice when I get a chance. As far as the 180 turn around, yes would miss next row a little. I have the 62" mowing deck and that has a 6" uncut turning radius that is real nice for going around trees. The 4 wheel drive lets me go through about 2 feet of snow without ever turning on the blower, will just push it out of the way and plow through and not get stuck-crazy but works that well.
Thanks for the reply. If not for the terrain I think the X749 might be overkill for what I need. I will be mowing about 3 steep acres and plowing about 210 yards of asphalt driveway. I opted for a plow because of price, a blower has absolutely no Summer potential and my dealer said it is hard to fill up a 2 stage blower with our light snowfalls in Missouri. I also think a plow will do better when we get sleet. I could be wrong. X749 weight over the septic drain field is my new concern.
I figured you have about $22,000 in that tractor as stated here. Why did you buy an X749 when you could get a 2305 with more implements for less? I have a 2305 on order expected 11/5. I cannot seem to find too many X749 fans compared to the 2305 fans.
The 2305 will not fit in my shed, harder to put on and take off hard cab as I remove mine for summer. Also the 2305 will tear the living crap out of your yard with the standard tires and leave ruts everywhere as my good friend has one and is selling it to get a zero turn lawnmower. If you have more uses for a tractor then okay, but the 2305 is not for mowing a smaller yard like mine when weight is an issue. I just wanted a nice lawnmower.
Logical response. I wish more X749 owners would stand up for their tractors. I have been doing a lot of reading and despite better prices and financing I think I am going with a X749. The X749 just screams quality top-of-the-line and the 2305 is entry-level tractor.
Not everyone wants a 2305. If that were the case then the Super Garden Tractor line from Deere wouldn't continue to thrive. As a previous owner of a 3320 and a current owner of a brand new X748, I never considered the 2305. I decided I wanted something that handled like a lawn tractor but was built like a Sub Compact as far as strength and usefulness was concerned.
I used to have a JD 445 with soft cab. Yes, I really like my new tractor and I don't drive it as hard as I did in the video. I was showing off a bit. I really like the hard cab and the 20,000BTU heater inside. The four-wheel steering is also nice for mowing around landscaping.
You can't compare X304 to this tractor, too many diff to compare performance other than maybe turning radius etc. My old 445 2 wd was powerful but on slippery driveways would have trouble going up hills, 4 wd does not get stuck. If you just want the 4 ws and do not need the 4 wd you will still enjoy the X304. I am sure it works well on dry grass/pavement. I did't orig think I needed 4wd but after not getting struck all winter even then I go into woods behind house for fun, i like the 4wd better
How much was cab?

Love your new ride. Is it a diesel or gas engine. Could you give me a ball park on the cost of the hard cab.
Love it!

@johndeere445
The X749 also has a 24-hp, liquid-cooled, 3-cylinder, Yanmar diesel
Full-time 4WD; works in forward and reverse; separate front wheel motors adjust speed in turns to eliminate turf scuffing
