If you ask me, Bananas is the best DP album from the Morse-era. I also like very much Perpendicular. While Mk II was the best line-up indeed, B and P have a bunch of songs as great as their classic stuff. Purple still has many things to say.

Seriously, I once read that this band is like ROCK-JAZZ (not jazz-rock...blah!) their lineup may change, but it always feels like Deep Purple. Their change of lineup has been very organic, with Morse being there for over 12 years and has played more gigs with Purple than Blackmore now. And Don Airey has been with them now for 5+ years. It's not as if they go out with a new guitarist and keyboardist every time they tour. If that were the case, I'd probably not be a fan anymore

Steve Morse is technically superior: Very clean, fluid runs--extremely consistent.

Blackmore is opposite: a Blitzkrieg approach-all the scraping and playing with his feet.  No night was the same. He had an iron tremolo arm made because he kept tearing out the stock ones.

I prefer RB, but the Morse-era DP has its moments--it's more "mature". The 2000 Montreux performance of "No One Came" and "'69" is reminiscent of the old days.

When Richie Blackmore heard Steve Morse for the first time, he bought two bottles of hard liquour and got realy drunk. Deep Purple has now the best guitar player in the world and the second best rock keybord player - Don. I don't think that Blackmore was a comple death-wound, but with Lord also gone, their core sound is very watered-down. Not that they're bad, but Deep Purple now is not the same band as they were back then; it's just a whole diffrent band. (& I still prefer them back then)

Well, tehe real dudes of the band were Blackmore and Jon Lord. Paice was awesome with his voice (remember child in time? :) ) Paice is one of the greatest drummers alive. Glover is a great bass player too, proving himself worthy int both Rainbow and (of course) Deep Purple.

Steve Morse: Can be a substitute for Blackmore, but never fill his place. If Morse is a prophet of guitar, then Blackmore was the God...

Don Airley: Nice, good enough, for Deep Purple I mean. Though Lord's place can never be refilled, like Blackmore's...
