my gosh that was close! Barbaro almost lost.....and barley won. probably his worste run, but he still won. he was a good horse, not great, but good. he'll be dead a year this month. i loved him and like everyone else, this colt stole my heart. Long live his legasey! may i see you race in Heaven =)

i picked street sense by remembering this race. if you remember street sense narrowly beat out any given saturday right before the derby, barbaro gave a big performance right before the derby and so did street sense, they both had a test of heart right before the big day.

Your comment brings up a good point I like to keep in mind this time of year. Three-year-olds pointed towards the Derby need to have their ability and condition improved, and that can only be done by overcoming competitive foes in races. Barbaro not only had to overcome the unyielding front-runner here, he had to run from a far post no other horse had ever won from before at this distance at Gulfstream.
