even though I am working with cakes for the last 7 years I learned heaps from this short clip. thank you very much.

  • CAN ONLY WATCH TO: 1:06 AND STOPS... WHATS GOING ON? HELP

  • @chataboutcakes That happens to me sometimes. The only way I can fix it is to reload the entire page. :( It does work though.

  • can we make royal icing without eggs?????????

  • @niketa2011 Meringue powder works, it's basically dried eggwhites.

  • @niketa2011 try replacing it with meringue powder

  • Ahhh why did this video have to end such a good video

  • when she stats piping after at 5:41 it looks like #3

  • she is the best pastry teacher ever

  • is it supposed to get more stiff as u mix???? and my icing doesnt look as white as urs, why is that?

  • @omgpopfan Are you using the icing with cornflour in it? Icing sugar is sometimes called powdered sugar in the US. It shouldn't have anything in it but sugar.

  • is it supposed to get more stiff as u mix????

  • Can royal icing be used as a glue for sticking edible decorations onto cakes as well as piping detail onto a cake? As you did say that royal icing dries very hard.

  • Very well explained. Thanks a lot Elaine!

  • Dear Elaine I have done exactly the way to say for the preperation of the Icing, one egg white for 1lb. of icing sugar. syphoned then mixed, little water, flooded my templet, let it dry for 2 days, but my icing is still slightly soft in the middle so when I try to remove it from the waxed paper it always breaks...this si my fourth try...please help...thanks

  • @60alcazar Check that the icing and any colours you are using do not contain glycerine, which can attract moisture from the air making it difficult for the runout to dry.

  • is there an invisible saran wrap cutter somewhere? because if you're just using your hands, wow.

  • WOW!

u r an amazing teacher... i really loved watching n learning from you... Thank you so much!

  • Piping bags made difficult - and with a pointless tube on top of that.

  • this video is from 1899 lol

  • @DieAlena yeh i thought it was gonna be ww2 all over again

  • Do you sell these tutorials for CD or mp3?

  • You are one of the best teachers ive seen. Thanks you.

  • You need to do more videos!!!! you are the best so far, your technique, explanations are clear to me and love all the decorations you have shown!! THANK YOU!!

  • @beauticianist You realise that it's not the video uploader being filmed, this is clearly a video made in the 80s, I'm sure everything is way out of production.

  • excellent video, can you send me the royan icing recipe please? thanks

  • thanks for sharing this...

  • How old is this ?

  • @Baker982 ya i wonder?

  • @Baker982 Looks like the 70's.

  • very helpful. thanks a lot

  • I tried the recipe. it did not become foamy at all. Is it because of starch in the sugar or am I missing something?

  • @vebustra most recipes need to be adjusted with your location, according to the altitude & humdity.

  • Thats a very good demonstrations, and very clear too ! Thanx for posting ! =D

  • Great TEACHER! Thank you so much for teaching.

  • Mixing the powdered sugar into the egg white one spoon at a time would make me crazy. I think I get the same results with mixing the eggs til foamy, then adding all the powdered sugar carefully while my KitchenAid is going. Just a thought.

  • @anneza5 Thank you for your comment. I just wanted to respond to say that I found the demonstration this quite helpful and timely as our stand mixer just blew up. It's always helpful and important to at least know how to do things by hand and this teacher does a very good job of that!

  • only bad things about those types of bags is that they dont hold that much icing

  • @cakestudent95 With this type of work, you don't want a large bag. It'll end up killing your hand.

  • That was so helpful! Very clear :)

  • is tgis really sweet or just okay?

  • she's got a tiny bowl in the beginning, and all of the sudden it's huge?

  • A pound is 454g.
