@omgpopfan Are you using the icing with cornflour in it? Icing sugar is sometimes called powdered sugar in the US. It shouldn't have anything in it but sugar.
Can royal icing be used as a glue for sticking edible decorations onto cakes as well as piping detail onto a cake? As you did say that royal icing dries very hard.
Dear Elaine I have done exactly the way to say for the preperation of the Icing, one egg white for 1lb. of icing sugar. syphoned then mixed, little water, flooded my templet, let it dry for 2 days, but my icing is still slightly soft in the middle so when I try to remove it from the waxed paper it always breaks...this si my fourth try...please help...thanks
@60alcazar Check that the icing and any colours you are using do not contain glycerine, which can attract moisture from the air making it difficult for the runout to dry.
You need to do more videos!!!! you are the best so far, your technique, explanations are clear to me and love all the decorations you have shown!! THANK YOU!!
@beauticianist You realise that it's not the video uploader being filmed, this is clearly a video made in the 80s, I'm sure everything is way out of production.
Mixing the powdered sugar into the egg white one spoon at a time would make me crazy. I think I get the same results with mixing the eggs til foamy, then adding all the powdered sugar carefully while my KitchenAid is going. Just a thought.
@anneza5 Thank you for your comment. I just wanted to respond to say that I found the demonstration this quite helpful and timely as our stand mixer just blew up. It's always helpful and important to at least know how to do things by hand and this teacher does a very good job of that!

It's a shame the volume is so poor, it stops me listening to the others, I assume they will all be as bad.

I tried the recipe. it did not become foamy at all. Is it because of starch in the sugar or am I missing something?

only bad things about those types of bags is that they dont hold that much icing
cakestudent95 1 year ago
@cakestudent95 With this type of work, you don't want a large bag. It'll end up killing your hand.
