  • Why don't you just drag your footage to the new item button (next to the clear bin)??

Premiere will make a sequence based on your footage.

  • thank you for this video,

But i got something wrong. I took movie with Nikon D3s, then when I load it wtih Premiere Pro CS5, I got a message:

"The file is not supported or broken"

I didn't set anything before taking movie. I have no idea why it happen. I use Windows Vista 64bit. Does anyone know how to solve this?

    Thank you.

  • can u tell me the best settings for maintaing dslr footage quality. Ive tried rendering as a avi uncompressed but it changes to sd oppose to hd

  • Canon 60d works too?

  • Canon 60d works too?

  • I have CS5 and my camera records in AVI..how come when i import, it only brings in the audio and not the video..are my sequence settings wrong or seomthing?

  • I wish this had a 32 bit version. My computer is beast but it's 32

  • does premiere pro cs5 accept all formats?

my camera does 30 frames at 640x480 in mpeg

shitty camera I know but I lost my minidv camera

    :(

  • How should I anticipate Premiere cs5 to run on a new 15" macbook pro with an i7?

  • @DJEDI296 VERY NICELY, you wont get hardware acceleration from the graphics card but you will get a bucketload of RT effects anyway

  • should I choose the hd settings or the dslr setting?

  • @imagee02 DSLR if you are using a camera, HD is for uncompressed formats

  • I'm positive

  • i have tried using the program on my laptop and I'm only getting audio. I can't see any of my clips. I've been trying to figure out what I may be doing wrong. My clips are coming from my nikon d90.

  • @imagee02 Are you sure it is CS5 and not 4

  • Hi,

NIce tutorial! thank you. Could you comment on doing slow motion using 'Speed/Duration' function in timeline VS 'Interpret Footage'? Also would you recommend me shoot at 720 60fps instead of 1080 30fps using 7D? How much quality would be loss?

    Thank you so much.

  • @cellg8 Speed/Duration wil attempt to 'MAKE' new frames to slow the clip down, this will never result in a clip that looks as good as one actually shot at a higher frame rate, interpret just allows you to play all those frames at a different rate thus the slow mo looks as good as if you were to shoot slow mo with a film camera (at the same rate) As for shooting 1080P or 720P, for slow mo, it is the best option, you do get a fair bit more moire issues in 720P than at 1080P

  • @evanbutson

Thank you so very much for your reply! Ok..please let me know what you think about this:

I plan to do with shoot with the setting at 1080P and use 720P setting for the part that I know I'll use as slow motion. Then I will process with CS5 using 1080 sequence timeline and use the interprete footage function for the 720P part... Would that work? Thank you...

  • @cellg8 Hey buddy. Here's my 2 cents. I shoot slow mo at 720p on my 7d. It defenitely looks less jumpy. At 1080 it feels like it has lagg, or something similiar. I have brought down some clips up to 5% speed, and it still looks ok. Not as cool as 10000 fps, but still good enough. Cheers!

  • I have a HP Quad-Core Phenom and when I edit my footage from (only) my Canon t2i, I don't receive smooth playback. Please help

  • i can se that when i render my cpu is at 100-90 % all the time, could this be the issue ?

  • plis help, im not having problem, editing my mov i havent converted them, files in premiere pro,

i can even add a mojo and it still plays back at 1/4

but when i render it with youtube wide settings, it renders but after like 8-9 min the computer just freezes up, im using a Amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 6400+ with 3.2 ghz

  • Would you recommend mac book pro with 8gb? Imac 8gb? or Pc with 8gb?

  • @mydadisalive Depends, MacBook if you need portability, I would rather go a second hand Mac Pro Tower otherwise that way you can put in a certified NVIDA card, get hardware acceleration and run Windows and Mac

  • what is the recommended hardware to work with DSLR and CS5?

  • @mydadisalive A Core i7 system with a minimum of 8 gig of RAM, and a NVIDIA card that is on the approved list ( they have recently approved a few more cards) not a very expensive system with a heck of a lot of RT. I would also add a BlackMagic Intensity for output

  • what is the difference in slowing your clips down that you shot in 60p to %40. i saw a different overcracking tutorial online and guy did that.

  • @xexodusx The difference is if you have a video clip that is shot at 25 fps and slwo it down say 60%, the computer has to make up the extra frames, even at the best of times this dooesnt look great, whereas if you shoot at 60 fps and re-interpret to 25 fps each frame is a real frame and so it looks super smooth, as if you have shot slow mo with film for instance.

  • Hey there, Do you think its better to stream video from an external HDD, like in final cut.

    Thanks for the help mate.

  • @LEONJERSEY For editing, yes, connect by Firewire rather than USB for best results

  • did you edit on a 2.4GHz macbook pro? (the latest one)

  • @freestylexis Thats correct. Ive been editing daily footage from the World Cup on it and it is working a charm.

  • @evanbutson and what if you add effect effects, filters, long transitions etc... ? I think simple editing (just cut) works well with avchd files from my camera but I am more worried about adding effects etc... Did you try adding filters, or doing a complicated edit?

  • @freestylexis it all depends, if your on a laptop then obviosuly most effects need rendering, simpel thigns like crossfades etc are fine but complex colour grading needs rendering, if however you have a desktop machine with a CUDA GPU you can add multiple layers of RT effects and playback to your hearts content. I have had curves, gauusian blur and 3D effect playing in 1080p for ages no worries with a GTX 285.

  • @evanbutson so basically I could do some simple editing on a macbook pro 2.4 and when i'll do more complicated stuff i'll need to render just like in final cut? seems nice...

  • anytime I start a project, the video playback displays a black screen, while playing it stays black and the audio plays, the only way to get a picture is to pause the video, anyone know how to fix this?

  • @bcrichant What GFX card are you using, also are you running dual monitor, what happens if you only have one monitor enabled.

  • @evanbutson Dude I'm probably just out of my league on this one haha I'm not really sure of the GFX card I got a Dell inspiration 1545, again I'm not sure on the dual monitor, how would i figure that out? I also got a mac book pro but haven't mastered that yet, would I be better off just learning that and then downloading adobe on that computer?

  • @bcrichant Give it a go on the MacBook, as it is Apple hardware it will always work,.

  • @evanbutson thanks man, will do

  • Can some people tell me some ups and downs to Final cut and Premiere?

  • This was with the built in NVIDIA card of a MacBook Pro which i snot supported for hardware acceleration by Mercury, with hardware support you also get RT effects and additional layers etc.

  • Which graphic card did you use for Adobe Mercury Playback Engine?

  • Not had any problems in the Beta, worked pretty well for me, although I am not an AE Beta tester so I was concentrating more on Premiere

  • Comment removed

  • Premiere new engine looks great especially in combination with roto brush in AE. Powerful tool for filmmakers.

I heard that there are problems with 'Replace with after effects composition'. Do you know something about it?

  • @pkhirosz Havnt had any issues, use it almost daily
