Thanksgiving and all of its accompanying traditions began as a pagan feast, honoring Pagan agricultural gods, which dates back thousands of years. A goose used to be the main course for the Pagan harvest festivals .These birds representing the sun god and was replaced by the more common turkey in America.
The Pilgrims observed a Three Day thanksgiving in the fall of 1621,this was the same way , Pagan Rome celebrated there Pagan goddess Ceres in Rome and Athens
Thanks so much for posting, I'm living abroad in London and wish I had my mom and grandmother in the kitchen with me! I will be cooking my first Christmas dinner with you turkey and stuffing recipes. I will be buying a whole turkey . Do you recommend brining a turkey in addition to using your marinade..or just don't worry about the brine?? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! If you're going to be injecting the turkey you don't necessarily have to brine it especially if you're going to butter the outside also. Now if you really like brining, (Just be careful of how much salt is used after the brining process.) I would think you could brine for less time and use the injection marinade OR you can brine for the same amount of time and maybe use the marinade as a basting liquid. I hope this helps :)
whoa girl im certainly going to try this recipe, i will tell u how it turns out. i dont like dark meat either. I wish i could cook too, i bet that was good!

Great recipe. Did you use a turkey breast split into 2 halves, or an unsplit breast?

It really is good and you can also use the sauce as a basting liquid if you don't have an injector. Enjoy!
