The thing is... every time the US gets involved in a Muslim-majority country, the situation only gets worse. They do not have the same mentality as those of us in the West do, and it's ignorant to assume that things will work out as they did in post-war Germany, for example.

People in that region of the world are accustomed to absolute rulers, and when there isn't one, all hell breaks loose. It's better for them if the West stays out of it.

Just to make that clear, I don't think we should have gone into Iraq, and I'm definitely not a Bush fan. The fact is, though, that Iraqi dissidents spent years lobbying Washigton to go into Iraq to get rid of Saddam because he was killing his own people by the thousands.

If you'll remember, directly following the invasion, most Iraqis were glad to have the troops there.

The parts of the Qur'an that instruct Muslims to respect "people of the book" were abrogated by later verses. In other words, Allah said those earlier verses don't count, and were replaced by the violent ones we're all more familiar with.
