  • Wonderful music....Played beautifully. ...What an unexpected pleasure to come across this....Power to your elbow .

  • great

  • The music and the 'beauty'.... not good for an old mans heart...x

  • was your granny my auntie granny Mac Aunt Ina ie Ina MacIntosh?

  • Outstanding! Thank you so much, Phantom Piper.

  • I have a photo of my Scottish gran kicking over her Triumph 500cc single at 83 years of age.. which personally I find quite impressive...

However this chick makes any image of a Scotswoman a hard act to follow...

    ( pun intended )

    Greetings from wee bonny Australia

  • @chilby00 was she granny Mac ie Ina Macintosh?

  • Awesome!

  • do you know where i can get the sheet music for this?

  • @spiritryu31 I have the sheet music on a pdf file. When I first heard Jane play it gave me more spirit to keep trying. I just started to play a little over a year ago. Was always running out of wind on the pipes until I found a leak at the base of 2 drones. Fixed it and kept listening to Jane play until I had the tune in my head. Found the music online somewhere. Let me know best way to get it to you. Don

  • @deeteenh hey Don, i myself have also been playing for about a year, the tune sounds

very beautiful and id love if you could email me the PDF if it isnt too

    much trouble. email is reidskin@live.com

  • do you know where i can get the bww for the Dark Isle apparently i'm doing something wrong trying to find it lol

  • god bless

  • Love the crisp sound of the pipes.

Thanks heaps, that's really 'woken up' my day.

  • I started swimming to you from Wisconsin...I hit Michigan...where do I go from here? We need to have dinner...I don't imagine you know anyone in the Bay City Rollers?

  • Do you people realise it was the Irish that invented the 'pipes'. They didn't like the noise so gave them to the Scots!

  • @chrisnh nearly every culture in the world has bagpipes, it's neither Scottish nor Irish, but the world associates bagpipes with Scotland. Deal with it.

  • I think she plays the pipes really good!

  • great vid/song god luck on fan club ..ben

  • @pontoporos1 I'm impressed! You write contemporary Greek!

  • @pontoporos1 Englsish conversion = you are gorgeous and the sound of bagpipes are shocking. I hope to meet you sometime. Friendship from a fanatic your friend from Greece. To be always well

  • You should smile more, you are very pretty :) Remember...if it ain't Scottish...it's CRAP!!!

  • i think u like urself, i would to if i were u

  • what cat r ye on about.....

  • @TheDiarmaidable

    ???

The small feline who lives with me, (or as I said, my cat).

  • My cat goes mental when he hears this. He can be sound asleep, but when I play this he's all over the laptop or rolling about on his back making weird noises!

I'm not having a go - I'm Scots and played the bagpipes at the Royal Tournament years ago.

It obviously doesn't upset him as he runs towards the sound when he could easily leave the room. Don't know what's going on there? :)

Nice tune, but Flowers Of The Forest is my #1

  • @freegie27 The cat knows good music when he hear it no doubt!

  • @concretedemon777

Agree. It's a pain in the butt though that every time I want to hear bagpipe music I have to go through this weird ritual. :) :)

  • Beauty and brains........why dont we hear and see Scottish performers on the BBC and channel 4 like we used to? then we could be asking for people such as Jane every week.......a great tune too.

  • well thanx for nothing!

now i have a new lifetime goal of dating a chick in a plaid skirt who plays bagpipes... like i'll ever find one of those around here...

  • Aye 'tis a fine lass there. Quite talented, very beautiful indeed. Fine job to her and her bagpipes.

  • "could be a bit softer sound". Its the modern tuning of the pipes I think.

  • I think she's gorgeous and I also think shes wearing New Rocks.

  • pretty girl, in her own way, bit old for me, decent playing, has a strong chest, could be a bit softer sound comming from a woman, i would prefur that, still depends on the instrement alot i guess

  • i must agree there.. i am part scottish, of the dunlop clan from ayershire.. sadly i have never visitet.. perhepas its for the better, for i would never leave

  • Why the childish vulgarity in some of these comments ?

That bored ? Do your mothers teach yupu to talk like

that or is it because nobody can see your face that you have no shame ?

    Tim, "from across the watther".

  • I´d hit that until it squeals... oh wait, it already does!

  • Beautiful. Erni!

  • Beautiful

  • Yes indeed, beautifully played at just the right speed! And I was told by an islander that the tune for the TV series was based on an old Gaelic air from the Outer Isles.

  • What a load of rubbish. The Dark Island was written in1962 as the theme of a TV series. I used to think that it was an ancient folk melody until I met the composer.

    Your music is great anyway!

  • Absolutely the best sounding rendition of "The Dark Island" Keep up the fantastic music!!

    George, a Canadian piper.

  • perfect . lovely ..

  • Thank you, Jane for a fine piece of piping and for the tale of an t-Eilean Dorcha.

    Go raibh mile maith agat.

  • Nae bad for a quine.

  • Let the pipes drone, she is OKI!!

  • God, I love piobrochdt... Thanks.

  • Is the legend in the description an actual legend or a made up one ? ( "real" as in actually told...not necessarily true)

  • nice playing!

  • It could sound so nice but at parts, there's rushing going on. I know this because my instructor yells at me for the same thing I hear here. This is how it ought to sound: search: THE DARK ISLE - THE BLACK WATCH - Pipes & Drums.

  • @GennaGirl14 she was not rushing, she was not even in a hurry, great playing btw

  • @megafishtank1 Oh, do you play then? So you're an expert piper, I assume?

  • @GennaGirl14 yes, i have played all my life, check out my shark tank thats me playing the bagpipes for the background music

  • Super

  • Sorry pipes are way to harsh for this tune

  • @therangersson Dark Island sounds beautiful on the pipes. Listen to the proof.

  • @therangersson No, her *playing* is too harsh. The Black Watch does a beautiful version of it.

  • @GennaGirl14 I love the black watch's version of this song. But this one is great too!

  • love ur work

  • A bit too fast, no ? I used to hear it more slowly

  • @EulHollandais You're absolutely right. She's rushing a lot.

  • wow. That is amazing. Love the pipes and that is my favorite song on that instrument. Keep up the great work :)

  • dour scottish look, fantastic twidlin' o the pipes! (chanter) i'd do her though!!!! LOL no offence meant!

  • Boa, I am in love with the girl in the pictures!

  • This is on Fife Coast Path - around between Aberdour and Dalgety Bay. Lovely music and views.

  • I believe this is the Arron islands, but I'm not sure.

  • This is great, thanks. Very well played.

  • What's the name of the lighthouse,it's beautiful:)

  • pity this girl dont play the pipes or the video would have been good to watch

  • With bag pipes either you like it or you don't......I love it....don't know what it is ....remember back when I was in third grade living in Connecticut,USA.. in third grade one of my class mates really was into this type of music which got me interested..He played pipes also.....Then the rock and roll thing came about and played a lot of that different styles and still do but when hear this type of music I feel I'm back home..........something pure about it.

  • nice lass indeed!keep it up!kisses from France

  • Just love this. I play it on the violin on the other side of the firth :)

  • does any body have sheet music for this?

i want to learn it :) awesome playing btw

  • @xbecky1710x It took me a while but I found it but I can't seem to post the link for you.

  • @xbecky1710x Youtube is not letting me post the link so I will cheat a bit. Check out darkisland.film.bigbestmovie and put the com at the end.

  • @xbecky1710x I forgot to tell you not to click on the music, just right click on it and save it as a picture then you can print it out as a gif/picture file. Not sure I fully trust the site as someone is posting this same site with something extra at the end of the url that will give a nasty malware/fake anti virus "thing". Good luck.

  • @xbecky1710x i

if you google free bagpipe sheet music it should be on a site there hope this helps.(it sounds awsome when a whole band plays it as well )

But NOTHING can beat a Lone Piper.

keep it up it sounds great

I just learnt it myself on the pipes.

  • Very nice , thank you ...

    Muy bonita , gracias ...

    adiós .

  • Go to Jane Espie - The Phantom Piper and either purchase the CD or download the Tracks. Financial support for an artist you enjoy can keep her recording.

  • Wonderful, the best on YouTube. I'm new to piping (not music) and will use your rendition to work on my gracenotes. Had some trouble finding a pipe version of the music though. Are there seconds available online?

  • i wanne learn that, but how??

i dont think its easy on you're own?

  • @SeoDriver you can download the wrtten and sound files to learn this tune from JimMcGillivray's website pipetunes.ca

  • i love your pipe playing, you sure play music with your heart! you rock, keep up the great work

  • This tune is what I want played at my funeral. "Amazing Grace" Is a bit overdone, IMHO. Then, when it's over and folks are leaving, "Caber Faddegh".

  • she sure can blow.....teehee
