  • Boring

  • how many rg6 can go into antennia. is there an adaptor for 2? see we had 2 seperate rg6, no splitter of one cable, to 2 seperate tv outlets. Well former cable company used an existing tv line and now no free to air on that outlet. im thinking of following rg6 from wall though roof. There an isolator box outside with 2 rg6 leads?. i dont understand it. what the earth can i do.

  • Lightning likes to travel in a straight line. Better to run ground wire straight down to a dedicated ground rod. Use some type of stand-offs (or span) f/the wire to help avoid melted siding and to limit number of fire trucks needed. You can bond your new rod to any others. An improvement would be to route coax down to the ground and place your ground "block" right there at the ground rod. Route coax to your interior. Shine up all ground connections including the rod; use sand paper on rod top.

  • How many channels do you get with that type of antenna?

  • You forgot to put the word "NOT" in your video title. It goes between the "How" and the "To" This is absolutely horrid

  • Camera man -"not bad for a bunch of amateurs"

Guy using a box cutter to strip cable-"speak for yourself"

I do believe he can speak for you also sir.

  • Un hook that ground ASAP. an RF ground needs to be seperate.. even if for reception.. get a small ground rod 4-5' drive it in ground.. take that green wire and solder it to the NEW ground rod.. never use the AC Mains ground for an antenna YIKES! ( Not to mention its all corroded.. probabaly isnt even electrically connected)

  • @BlazejLW10 It's spelt "Communism" and "Synagogue" you peanut.

  • You should use a 4 or 8 bay bowtie antenna for best results. Those giant older antennas were designed for channel ranges 2-69, but nowadays the channel band is narrower, limited to 7-52, which means the antenna no longer has to be 15 feet long to get good reception.

  • Thanks for all the good comments. The antenna is still working, although I still get the signal cutting out on some channels. I don't think I can ever totally get rid of it because planes fly overhead. BTW, All the materials came from Radio Shack even that little ampliflier.

  • why do u need a ground wire for a tv antenna for??? here in australia we dont have that!

  • @MrSidchrome Lightning strikes?.....Grounding also eliminates man made noises.

  • funny...."got our nuts on this backside"!!! Thanks for the valuable information. For those who do not have a grounding post - you can ground your wire on an exterior pipe.

  • where did the signal strength come from ?

  • @ngzcaz the TV, it's in the settings menu, if you have a newer TV you'll find it.

  • This was pretty informational by demonstrating a mounting bracket I had never seen before. Did you say you got it at Radio Shack?

Something that gave me a chuckle was the fact that the old guy was a little lost when it comes to wiring. A razor knife is the last tool I would like to use for stripping wire but I wouldn't hack at it. He didn't even twist the wire tight before trying to wrap it around the ground bracket.

It was like watching Benny Hill.

  • Good job, must have got nerves of steel to climb up there and do the installation.

  • thanks for posting!! Question where did you get the antenna mounting bracket(s) at?

    thanks!! :D

  • id say it was an electrical supplier

  • Thanks for posting this. Now I have an idea what I need to do and the materials I need. I love Youtube an people like you who take the time to post things and help other people out. Thanks!

  • great samsung tv!!! i need to install my antenna too!

  • Yes moving the antenna out of the attic will give you a huge boost in power.

  • on the coax, coming from the antena in to the house. right befor its going in to the house you need to make a loop. the loop prevents rain water going in to the house.

    FYI

  • don't bend the coax though make a neat loop you don't want to break the connection

  • would have done easier if you used a wire strippers instead of a utility knife
