in my opinion this game surpasses bioshock 1(9/10) bioshock 2(9.5/10) was just better had a better story and gameplay was a lot more fun. the only reason why people liked the 1st one better is because it was the first you never seen rapture but if this game came out 1st people will say this 1 is better.

I respect your opinion, but giving Bioshock 2's story an 8 and only giving Bioshocks story a 5 doesn't seem right. I thought that Bioshocks story was much more in-depth and interesting than Bioshock 2's.
@ghost3yame If you liked bioshock 1, this has better gameplay. Some people think the story is worse, but i think its a lot better than most shooters. Also, the gameplay is a lot more fun. Get both games, if you havent. There pretty long too.
@jhak1341 i think bioshock 1 and 2 focus mostly on one character alone in a crazy underwater city aside from splicers and bosses theres about three characters and u mostly hear them rather than see them so it would feel weird sitting through a bioshock movie for me anyway

I didn't really enjoy the original Bioshock either but I rented Bioshock 2 and surprisingly enjoyed it more then the original. I thought I was going to hate it but it was a good game.

This game is simply not as good as the first Bioshock, it failed to capture me in the storyline. However, the gameplay is very good and the graphics have improved. So I would suggest it if you dont mind being disappointed by a lackluster story.
I felt disappointed by this game. You were supposed to have the power of a Big Daddy. You don't. You don't get damage protection. No power bonus. The Big Sisters were invented to make sure that you had a challenge, because you were one of Rapture's strongest, but you didn't feel any more powerful than Jack from the first. Only time you feel like a Big Daddy is when you use your drill, which guzzles fuel very quickly, making it unusable for a long-term weapon.
Your a alpha series big daddy, the first. You aren't nearly as strong as the current ones. Not to mention can duel wield both plasmids and weapons where's Jack could only use one at a time.
Technically, you're the fourth. The original plan was the first. But honestly, if you've beaten the game, you'll have fought some Alpha Big Daddies, and they're better than the others. So, you should be able to hold your own against the new Big Daddies and the Alpha's. That's not the case, even the Splicers pose some challenge. The only things that make you better than Jack are:
You are actually Delta series. The Alpha series was the first series, although the 2 Big Daddys are very similar, the main difference is that after an Alpha lost his little sister, he would go crazy killing everything in sight then dieing. You were the first and supposedly only Delta which was highly advanced and wouldent go crazy, but would slowly die.

I like silent protagonists, provided they are done right of course, and it's not like we need another game where nolan north voices the lead again. Great for them, except doesn't work with me. We are still playing a certain character going through his/her events. Having him talk just adds to the experience. Reason why characters like solid snake, kratos, master chief and so many more are memorable.
While I mostly agree with you( I hate Gordan Freeman) a silent protagonist can be pullled off well like Wander from Shadow Of The Colossus.Also,at least Bioshock 1's twist explained why Jack didn't speak.With most games like Half-life they don't explain it at all.
The beginning of the first game, you must wait around in the test chamber for several minutes and you will hear a screeching noise (presumably someone messing around with things in the control room) Freeman say "Wha-What is he doing up there!?" then a scientist will respond "Nothing you need to worry about Gordon"

this game is kick ass! the one thing I wished they could've changed is the respawn system. I like the vial chamber things (forgot wat they were called), but when i die, the enemies still have the same amount of health when i respawn, so it kinda feels like i can go trigger crazy on a big daddy and not have any problems, but thats just a minor complaint from me. Still amazing game :)
I also didn't really think first game was that grea eithert. so u liking bioshock 2 is def interesting thing to hear.
i just didn't like the pacing of the first game with its hacking mini-games and the photogrphy thing, and a lot of limitations (like 500 cap for money, and the plasmid camp, which can ultimately be upgraded) made it annoying.
but hmm, maybe bioshock 2 will turn out to be a different story for me as well, tho not much seems to have changed..
ehh, bioshock just doesnt really appeal to me, and becasue im a nerd i know plasmids are small circular peices of dna found in prokaryotic cells and are used to make bacteria produce antibiotics and herbicedes and whatnot, sub to me if you like random ass biology lessons on the internet =) just kiddin u dont have to subscribe

Level design in Bioshock 1 was much better, Arcadia for example was beautiful, levels in this game however look a lot the same, but also unfinished.

Main characters who don't speak are an artistic thing. This allows the player to experience the story in his own eyes. It's like half-life.

i TRy to like the first bioSHOCK but i didnt like it >.> the fire fight iS SO BAD >.> the gun feel so bad >.> the story wasnt engaging enough FOR ME at least.
But the graphic/design was great.
FIRE FIGHT (gun fight) WAS THE WORST in shooter i eva played

i have to agree with you, i still don't like it, man.
i really try to play it over and over cause i know the story is okay, i've read the spoilers. the combat sucks, i can't really care for the ammo customization, and so on.

That goes with almost single player game. Rememeber not long ago online multiplayer wasnt a big factor ;)
Ive beat the game 3 times and it never got old.

@xLonE1x i dont care much for multiplayer games anymore. also i loved the first game and i still play it today. i was just say what ive heard from other ppl in their complaints about the game. as far im concerned there was nothing wrong with bioshock 1

this game is kick ass! the one thing I wished they could've changed is the respawn system. I like the vial chamber things (forgot wat they were called), but when i die, the enemies still have the same amount of health when i respawn, so it kinda feels like i can go trigger crazy on a big daddy and not have any problems, but thats just a minor complaint from me. Still amazing game :)

oh, u didn't like bioshock 1?
I also didn't really think first game was that grea eithert. so u liking bioshock 2 is def interesting thing to hear.
i just didn't like the pacing of the first game with its hacking mini-games and the photogrphy thing, and a lot of limitations (like 500 cap for money, and the plasmid camp, which can ultimately be upgraded) made it annoying.
but hmm, maybe bioshock 2 will turn out to be a different story for me as well, tho not much seems to have changed..

ehh, bioshock just doesnt really appeal to me, and becasue im a nerd i know plasmids are small circular peices of dna found in prokaryotic cells and are used to make bacteria produce antibiotics and herbicedes and whatnot, sub to me if you like random ass biology lessons on the internet =) just kiddin u dont have to subscribe
