The most attack helicopter could do this. I guess with a good crew the MI 24 would fail against the Eurocopter Tiger, but the Tiger has like you said no combat experience and even some problems with the electric.

the apache is publically claiming it can take 23mm anti aircraft rounds, 85% of the aircraft cant stop a 30-06 high velocity round. the hind's weakest point can take a 8mm mauser steel tip high velocity and that spot is the size of a clipboard.
This helicopter can kick anyone's face when use wisely. Although I hope the Mil bureau will take note of it's EXHAUST PIPE. That one thing has made this beast wounded many times in Afghanistan, or perhaps the future conflict.

Dont htink US ariforce has anythin symilar to the MI24. All they have is cobras, apaches and blackhawks. The hind combines both gunship and personal carrier capabilities!
@rm688 Personally, I prefer the Apache over the Hind. Apache has just as good firepower, and can move MUCH better than the hind. But hey, we have the AC130. <3
I think the US has experimented with blackhawks - gave them stub-wings like the Hind - the idea was to use it pretty much like the hind - drop off special forces and if necessary provide them with close air support all with one helicopter.
Don't know if they ever built more than prototypes though.

@rm688 us army got blackhawk for sending troops and apache for combat action , mi 24 could do both of this ...in my opinion they prefer to have two machines for different task than one helicopter for everything ..which is probably not so effective
@rm688 Our helicopter fleets are diverse enough. It works for Russia and her neighbors to have a solid helo that can do two different jobs. The best we can do is to load a Blackhawk with weapons.
KInda sinister looking too, and while it won't bring in as many troops as a Blackhawk or have the manueverablity of a huey, it can bring a TON of weaponry to the fight. Hell, the guys inside can stay there. Why even land when you have a Hind?

@MultiGunner666 I cannot agree with you on the Hind.its not very maneuverable and the earlier versions had large exhausts that made it a big target for SAMs (Hind E tried to fix that). Afghanistan showed its weaknesses. I believe its better to separate the gunship from transport for Sword and Shield tactics. I believe your Kamov HELOs are better, especially the KA50 gunship. I am not a fan of HELOs, and believe that in the future, transport and gunships should be VTOL fixed wing designs.

@MultiGunner666 I was born in the United Kingdom,but both my parents are from Hungary,where the Mi24 is still used.When I visited Hungary many years ago,I used to see these Hind helicopters operating from Papa base (now a NATO base),and was fascinated by them,but when I researched them, I found them not to as effective as they 'look'.Does the Philippines use the Hind?There is a newer version of the Kamov (Ka52) which improves on the KA50, but the KA50 was used in battle and worked well.
@10APC Nope the Philippines doesn't have any hind helicopters,but I think it could be effective in our military's campaign against Muslim rebels in our south...many wounded soldiers here died in battle because the helos that were suppose to transport them couldn't land on a hot LZ,we only have hueys,which are inadequate for the job...The last thing I know is that our air force is buying W-3 Sokol helos from Poland,well is hope that solve the problem..

@1992steffan ah 64 and mi-24 are TOTALLY different types of helicopters... so.. in theory.. u can't compare both choppers... for me.. both are the best doing their thing.... KILLING MOTHERFUCKERS
there was a case in Africa, a MI24 is on a batlle mision, carying some troops... One of them is idiot enough to accedently explode a handgranate IN the MI24.. he killed himself and some of his team, but the helicopter continued the mision , destroyed his target and returned to it's base. It is a proof that good machine can function even if abused over the thinkable limits
Other than a direct hit with a missle, nothing can really bring these things down. The pilots sit in an armor plated shield. Its probably the most armed and armored thing in the sky. Nothing comes close.

Shilka's and Tunguska's will tear apart Apaches and Eurocopters easily, but then you have to take into account of, who has more of what, where and how, and how well supllied. but if one on one, it depends on the pilot whos flying the gunship.

Somehow I find the Hind more impressive then the Apache.
It's an armed-to-the-teeth utillity helicopter that can transport a fully loaded platoon, can be used as a bomber (the hind is the only chopper in the world that has this feature).
It's size and weapons are an intimidating sight, and it's armor makes it virtually a flying bunker.
This is one beast of a machine by far one of my fav helos:)

I think the US has experimented with blackhawks - gave them stub-wings like the Hind - the idea was to use it pretty much like the hind - drop off special forces and if necessary provide them with close air support all with one helicopter.
Don't know if they ever built more than prototypes though.
It's called MH-60L DAP (Direct Action Penetrator) - google for pics, it looks cool.

They have the capability to do so. But I guess they prefer to bomb the hell out of everything rather than sending troops/special forces in the area lol

@rm688 us army got blackhawk for sending troops and apache for combat action , mi 24 could do both of this ...in my opinion they prefer to have two machines for different task than one helicopter for everything ..which is probably not so effective

@rm688 Our helicopter fleets are diverse enough. It works for Russia and her neighbors to have a solid helo that can do two different jobs. The best we can do is to load a Blackhawk with weapons.

THIS thing is a warhorse, brings troops AND pain.
KInda sinister looking too, and while it won't bring in as many troops as a Blackhawk or have the manueverablity of a huey, it can bring a TON of weaponry to the fight. Hell, the guys inside can stay there. Why even land when you have a Hind?

@MultiGunner666 I cannot agree with you on the Hind.its not very maneuverable and the earlier versions had large exhausts that made it a big target for SAMs (Hind E tried to fix that). Afghanistan showed its weaknesses. I believe its better to separate the gunship from transport for Sword and Shield tactics. I believe your Kamov HELOs are better, especially the KA50 gunship. I am not a fan of HELOs, and believe that in the future, transport and gunships should be VTOL fixed wing designs.

@MultiGunner666 I was born in the United Kingdom,but both my parents are from Hungary,where the Mi24 is still used.When I visited Hungary many years ago,I used to see these Hind helicopters operating from Papa base (now a NATO base),and was fascinated by them,but when I researched them, I found them not to as effective as they 'look'.Does the Philippines use the Hind?There is a newer version of the Kamov (Ka52) which improves on the KA50, but the KA50 was used in battle and worked well.

@10APC Nope the Philippines doesn't have any hind helicopters,but I think it could be effective in our military's campaign against Muslim rebels in our south...many wounded soldiers here died in battle because the helos that were suppose to transport them couldn't land on a hot LZ,we only have hueys,which are inadequate for the job...The last thing I know is that our air force is buying W-3 Sokol helos from Poland,well is hope that solve the problem..

@MultiGunner666 Interesting.Just looked at the W-3 Sokol on the net, it seems similar to the Aerospatial Puma, and just like you say,your country has ordered 8 units for 1st quarter of 2011 (now).I am sorry to hear of your wounded...your military campaign does not get much coverage in the media over here, which is a shame.I am sure that if your country wanted Hinds, they would have bought them...maybe your government plans a procurement for attack HELOs in the future, to upgrade what you have.

@10APC We don't get the attention that we desperately need,but we do have some military aid from the Americans,unfortunately the helos they've been giving us are the old hueys,we need all the help that we can get,but a couple of blackhawks from them would be a great help...by the way the UK is helping us modernize our British made patrol boat..

there was a case in Africa, a MI24 is on a batlle mision, carying some troops... One of them is idiot enough to accedently explode a handgranate IN the MI24.. he killed himself and some of his team, but the helicopter continued the mision , destroyed his target and returned to it's base. It is a proof that good machine can function even if abused over the thinkable limits

Other than a direct hit with a missle, nothing can really bring these things down. The pilots sit in an armor plated shield. Its probably the most armed and armored thing in the sky. Nothing comes close.

@D2jspOFFICIAL: The U.S. wish it had hardware similar to the Hind in Vietnam to transport troops from and to the battlefield; instead they used large numbers of the weak UH-1s with frightful losses (one AK-47 enough to shoot it down), making hastily "up-grades" of the chopper with defensive guns; the Soviets used the Hind exactly in the same fashion in Afghanistan with FAR less losses. Oh, and the Apache and Hind are entirely different concepts. Do your research.

@D2jspOFFICIAL on a one on one. in any situation, unless its a speciall assignment, gunships dont go into a warzone without ground forces, which, if your russian, have supreme air defense. Shilka's and Tunguska's will tear apart Apaches and Eurocopters easily, but then you have to take into account of, who has more of what, where and how, and how well supllied. but if one on one, it depends on the pilot whos flying the gunship.

Somehow I find the Hind more impressive then the Apache.
It's an armed-to-the-teeth utillity helicopter that can transport a fully loaded platoon, can be used as a bomber (the hind is the only chopper in the world that has this feature).
It's size and weapons are an intimidating sight, and it's armor makes it virtually a flying bunker.
