@peterkuhf no we have the same sound here, my 206 battery went dead a few weeks back and made that noise, usually its the high pitched mono-tone beeping as normal for key in ignition etc.
Do you know what does that beep mean? My 206 does the same after 1-2 days without using it but I have no clue about what's going on. Everything seems to work all right.
My Citroen C2 is doing the exact same sound with battery light coming on.

For us, it was the battery going flat. The dealer replaced the battery and it was all good after that.
