The amount of money the stimulus package and bank bailout would not have been anywhere near 1mil for every american- The stimulus bill estimated price tag of $816 billion. The Census Bureau estimates the US population at 305.7 million right now. That comes to a cost per American of $2,669.28. Your proposal suggests a cost per American of $1,000,000, or roughly 375 times as much

For one I was using that as an example. And your math seems a bit off. If the stimulus is for 816 billion and there are 305 millions Americans, then yes, each American would be able to receive 1 million dollars!!! Not that hard to see that! A billion is more than a million my friend. If there are 305 people in a building and I have $8,160 in my pocket. I would easily be able to give each one of them $10 with no problem and some to spare.

Your math is fantasy. Please use a calulator. Simple: If you gave every American $1,000,000 and there are 305,000,000 Americans- multiply these two numbers and you get the amount of money you would need to distribute 1 million dollars to each American= $305,000,000,000,000

that is 305 TRILLION dollars. The stimulus was about 800 BILLION.

305 TRILLION divided by 800 BILLION = 381, SO, what you are proposing would take 381 times as much money as was in the stimulus. This was a hoax.

Alright. So let's add in the bailouts- total estimates are in the range of 2 to 3 trillion dollars for the stimulus and bailouts-banks,AIG, auto companys etc,,. That is STILL 100 times less than a million per American or $10,000, not nearly enough to pay off a mortgages. It would also create ramped up inflation from all the cash placed in our hands which would devalue any money you received. It's just not as simple as you want to make it.

I'm not a fan of the bailouts either- BUT the consequence of not acting was a potential collapse of the financial sector- risk of depression was real-and that would have further hurt all of us. Bernanke is on record as being loathe to hand out money to these crooks but his hands were tied by the situation.Without the bailout the whole economy likely would have collapsed. We agree about anger towards the banks and greedy brokers- but don't blame Obama - it was Bush/Friedman/Greenspan fed policy.

The ECB controls the swapped currency from the Fed, not the Fed, so the Fed is not going to know what the ECB decided to do with the currency swap.
