WOW that was deep. You have inspired for the day to be nice or even smile at someone because that smile may be what he or she need. You really touched me. Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for your honesty & openness on this subject. Your empathy & compassion are evident in your words and can be seen on your face. Again, thank you.
You are awesome! You can change a persons' life and never even know. I was depressed (everything had been going all wrong and I felt very alone) and as I went into Giant, someone smiled at me and said "cool scarf! " And It made me think maybe everyone and everything about life is not so bad. Maybe I'll see how this life thing turns out. Now I never get discouraged when I smile @ someone as I walk by and they don't smile back because you just Never know.
thank you for this :) a person very close to me tried to commit suicide and I had to make plans for therapy, take them to the hospital, visit them in rehab...but it was all worth it. I'm very lucky that person is still alive with me today. I've gone through an era of depression myself so I get an idea of what it feels like.
Thank you Sheena for your testimony!!! Isn't amazing how God put people in our lives right when we need them. Thank you again for reminding us to be intentional, breathing and enjoying the little things- ice cream!!!
@MrsFinallyNatural I hope that during this difficult time you are taking the time to breathe. Depression and Suicide are hard topics and the road to recovery is a long one so I hope your husband gets all the help he needs and that you are also taking care you! If you ever need an encouraging word or anything, let me know!
I would like to thank you for this video. The girl who took her life actually went to the high school near mine and I feel terrible about it. I hope her family recovers.
Suicide is never the answer...Thanks again for this.
@MegaGemini89 Your comments make it even better. Its amazing how strangers can be so encouraging to each other and how the kindest words can make such a difference!
Great video! Thank you so much for reminding us to just be present with people. A smile to a stranger is free and could make a world of a difference. Don't beat yourself up about what you could have done. Her suicide was not about or because of you. Honor her memory by doing exactly what you're doing... helping all of us see how to help the next person. Sometimes the solution is as simple as ice cream! :)
@leigh4health Being a friend is great. But there are times when friends can't be found. And I realized part of my healing had to be found within me. Friends can help and distract and such as mentioned in my video but then to sustain life and healing, we have to find it from within. If we taught people about the power within them, how they can heal themselves....it would just make such a difference!
This hit home for me in more ways than one. I am so happy that u are still with us and are able to just be there for someone. I donot know u but u seem so sincere. I will be reaching out to others becuz u never know what a difference a gesture can make. I am happy that u have overcome.
@strawberidaqri Its true. You never know what a simple gesture can do. You could literally be saving a life like my friend did who had no idea what was going on. If we treated every person and every encounter with a sacredness, imagine the difference!!!
Wow. That was very touching. Im glad you were able to overcome your past battles. Just by doing this video, your story here will help another. Please tag so others can find it.
I'm so glad that you've overcome it to pass your experiences, you are making a huge difference sharing your experiences on. I can see that you dealing with the pain, and it is emotionally draining, time is the best healer. We must take each day as it comes and reflect upon the goodness of life- which is actually living. Even among the mist of our torments.Talking is the only solution to divert the thoughts &filling ppl with positive experiences. To say don't let this defeat you. Thank you Sheena
Thank you for this story it is so touching, I read your blog on this and your on friend and it is an unfortunate rising issue that has not yet been addressed thoroughly. I too suffered from depression and thoughts of why am I here? The problem with suicide is that people who have plans of suicide can not share their burdens because they think they are isolated. Additionally they cant cope because the thoughts maybe overpowering.
@strictlystarlight You hit it on the head. Feeling of isolation used to run rampant in my mind. I truly used to think no one could understand what i was going through. But when you hear of other people's stories, you realize so many can relate! And the thoughts can be overpowering. EXTREMELY. Its why I had to change my thoughts. Because my thoughts led to action...so I literally had to force my mind to change!
Sheena, thank you for sharing your experiences. I too have dealt with depression, and even as an adult I still have bouts with it when things get tough. It's so hard to stay positive if we don't keep positive people around. As you pointed out, things as simple as a call, asking someone for coffee or ice cream, or sharing a book can save a life. You don't know how important your messages are to so many. Continue to share and be transparent. Thank you again.
@goldensexymama I have my low energy days too! Its why I'm so keen on maintaining emotional centeredness these days. And you are right, keeping positive, uplifting people around you is key. Its crazy and wonderful how simple things can save a life.
I don't even know what to say, just that you're a beautiful person with a beautiful spirit and I thank you for all your wisdom and insight at the right time :-D
@sheenalyoung I know what you mean, we discuss this in my Human Services class every week now...but guess what it's making me pay closer attention to some of my younger family members, you know check up with them make sure they are OK..Just saying "hey" and letting them know that someone else it there for them :-D
hey, sheena. I am currently dealing with depression. Actually, i'm not sure i know what happiness feels like. . i can't tell u how many times i i have thought that no one would be there to save me...u are so right about how much a small gesture can make a world of difference. I haven't cried like this in a long time.i've become mummified by the pain. i needed this...
@nichole1267 Sweetheart, you are not alone. I'm 43 and sometimes I've wondered if I known happiness. Guess what? I have, and I'll bet that you have too. It's hard to know it sometimes because we allow so many negative things to cloud our memories. Try your best to think of a time when something as simple as the sun warming your skin put a smile on your face and warmed your soul. That's happiness. No matter how dark it may get please, please try to find a bright spot to hold on to everyday.
@nichole1267 goldensexymamy is right. You aren't alone. I hope you have people n your life who take the time to extend simple gestures your way. If you were in my city, I'd take out for ice cream! :) I know exactly what you mean about the pain. It can be suffocating and so heavy. JUST BREATHE!!!!!! Just keep breathing!
WOW that was deep. You have inspired for the day to be nice or even smile at someone because that smile may be what he or she need. You really touched me. Thank you for this video.
