There are a lot of different types of storage mediums even back then. Tape was still widely used then and all the way only a few years ago. Multiple variants of magnetic storage among other things. They also had punch cards remember!
Still, the point is that computing *as we know it* would not be possible. That's true. Can you imagine running a modern PC using tape? I didn't want to imply that hard drives were the start of storage (well they were one of the first, in the late 50s with IBM's RAMAC. Only drum memory was older.)
Of course the video is a bit excessive, but really not that excessive. The humble hard drive deserves far more respect!

Not that excessive. Sure we have flash chips NOW, but what would computers have been like from 1980 to 2001?
I mean granted, that search warehouse thing is obviously unrealistic haha.
