  • This song makes you whant to Twist the night away, or until you get sleepy,Then you watch Innerspace and Start TWISTIN AGAIN!!!!

  • we miss you

  • thumbs up if animal house brought you here!

  • Makes you wish you were born in '33 so you'd be in your 20's in the 50's

  • @ThepwningButterbean I partially agree. I'd rather just have a time machine though. Apart from the music, that era was the Dark Ages of entertainment. Though I guess people were happier then. Never having experienced the new fangled forms of entertainment means they couldn't miss it. This song is so happy and cheerful. These days it'd likely just be the soundtrack for someone getting mugged.

  • One of the greatest you'll ever hear!!!! I should of been born 60 years ago.

  • check out my channel

    i love thi ssong

  • Tuck Pendleton and Jack Putter are feeling great!

  • @childofthesun32 ahahaha innerspace for the WIN!!!

  • at almost every family gathering when I was a kid you can bet your ass Sam Cooke was blasting!

  • @themightyoze A rap remix would flat ruin this song. It is a timeless classic the way it is.

  • Can't wait for someone to do a rap remix of this song. Gonna be dope.

  • @TheMightyOze a rap remix??? wtf for? its past time that these "artists" start creating their own original music.

  • @persebra Yeah those rappers give me the giggles. Play a great song and talk over the top of it... Under the mistaken impression that having the last word of each sentence rhyme with the previous makes them great rappers and the song better. Jay Zed! I'm talking about you! Crap Rapper Extraordinaire! He's not a rapper he's a magician actually. How else could he dupe people into giving him all that money without some powerful magic?

  • If you are not dancing to this, or at least bobbing around in your chair, then you are already dead. Love it!!!

  • It's hard to listen to this with a 14-16 year old because of how words change over time.

  • how could I live 18 years without knowing this guy`s soulful tunes? I have some catching up to do!

  • @Hanslijosephine Next one you need to listen to is Smokey Robinson, if you haven't already.

  • @Alikah1 Have heard of him, but then I also ``heard`` of Sam Cooke a while ago but didn`t take the time to fully listen. So Yes I will thank you :)

  • I'm 22 and I love this song!!!! But i was raised on REAL music :) xxxx

  • would it be wrong to play this at my funeral ? because im going to

  • 12 people don't wanna twist the night away. =(

  • @malnlow - his career started in late 1950, early 1951, when he began singing with The Soul Stirrers

  • All my neighbors hate this song! Maybe because I bang it at 3am everyday!!!

  • @DomiNEXTMusic keep on playing man, keep on playing! lol

  • He was a legend, voice of a crooner. He had an understated sexiness about him. Like all the good ones, taken too young!!!!

  • vraiment super jai aimé , pour moi il y a pas que les anciens tubes !

  • @HeLovesCulture It's just i've heard so many stories of how he died and that was a new one . I Think your family members are getting him mixed up with Marvin Gaye, he was shot by his father .

  • @HeLovesCulture Lol no he was shot by a hotel manager in LA and he was 33

  • @HeLovesCulture Thanks for the chat. Keep up the true love for this ledgend! I will too. See you again on youtube!

  • @HeLovesCulture I love music! But you sound like a true fan! I can listen to his voice all day!

  • Thumbs up if you start dancin a little when you hear this song

  • @HeLovesCulture thanks for the reply. It is so sad. I never knew that.

  • never fails to make me smile :)

  • When did he die? And how old was he?

  • I'm loving this funky music! The best thing ever!

  • These were some real happy times thanks to singers like Sam.

  • I love this... brings back alot of memories :)

  • i can't get enough of music like this. it's a shame that great music like this gets overlooked by the likes of rebecca black and kesha. can anyone give me a list of a couple artists like sam cooke? i'd really appreciate it!

  • More like 1941 Sam was born! He died at 13 really? NO!

  • @Johnnyrod19666 No Johnny... that's just the time period being covered

  • man i love sams music it just really takes me away its like all other music is just filling for his tunes

  • love this song

  • BAck in the days when you couldn't cover up a lack of talent in studio production. The man was a legend, and duly deserved his success

  • thumbs up for real music !!!!!!

  • MAN NAME ONE MUSICIAN TODAY THAT CAN DO IT LIKE THIS WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF TECHNOLOGYS HELP

  • @chedizl Nigel Hall.

  • @chedizl There's something wrong with your statement. It's too long. You need to remove the section that says "WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF TECHNOLOGIES HELP". Then your statement will be FACT!

  • Rod does a pretty good version of this

  • Innerspace brought me here ( Martin Short's hilarious dance).

  • great song great singer!

  • 11 people need there head twisted off ;)

  • Inner Space-great scene!

  • No matter what mood im in, this song gets me movin and smilin everytime. :)

  • So they shoot this guy But let JB live. The world is so fucked up.

  • I won a twist contest to this song in 1968. LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • @amy70405 hahahaha thats absolutely fantastic :D

  • The best soul singer thats EVER! been.Saxon Vic

  • Holy crap! This man is tremendous!

  • How the hell did he die again?

Remember Martin Short dancing to this in the 80's in "Inner Space"? That was the first time I heard this song.

And Sam Cooke did write "Soothe Me" for Sam & Dave, made famous by The Blues Brothers...

  • the sad reason people say they dislike music like this ,because their sad little lives consist of hoping they can ruin or upset others people who enjoy their lives and these people have nothing to live for and no friends ,so really they could do us all a favour and just expire ,er could yu do it now please if you're reading this oh and very quietly too ,thanks

  • TWISTIN!

  • How the hell can ANYONE dislike this song let alone Sam Cooke? I'm shocked 10 dislike this. Must be rated by kids who listen to Gaga or some other bullshit artist. I'm young too and can appreciate a classic like this!

  • @MrHorrorguy

I like Lady Gaga and like this too. I like Lady Gaga not just because her songs are catchy but she writes them and sings them. She's not an autotune monstrosity like Bieber, just a face thrown in front of a camera reading a script into a computer. Don't be hate on Lady Gaga just because she's "popular."

  • @ninjagrayfox

I'm not hating because she's popular, I'm saying her music doesn't compare. Oh just food for thought, why do you think she's so popular anyways? It's not because of the music I can tell you. You don't hear her in the head lines for her music. It's class A marketing and it works.

  • @MrHorrorguy Totally agree

  • i am 11 and i have spent a lot o evenings dancing strangely to sammy's music.

  • @TheGidgetinator Go watch Inner Space. This song features in an epic scene in that very fun movie.

  • i love Sam.

  • cutassus

  • you're really ashole

  • animal house + sam cooke= <33333333 ! R.I.P. Sam !

  • now THIS is a FEEL GOOD song

  • animal house was a classic movie, this is a classic song, awesome!!!!

  • Twisting The Night Awayyyy!!!!

  • i love this song so very much.

  • I remember reading a liner note about Sam Cooke's voice. It said that when any rock and roll wanna be singer first heard his voice, his reaction was to go back to pumping gas. Yeah, I think it was a member of The Rolling Stones....

  • funny how you find good music sometimes this one i first heard watchin Animal House when i was 14 great music is ageless n for me this one is haha

  • Animal house baby

  • one of my favorites! thank you!

  • I'm doing the "Carlton" as we speak

  • never has been and never will be a more perfect singing voice.

  • If, at the very least, your foot's not tapping, beg the devil to give your soul back.

  • @TenderTrap86

    Boom!!!

  • The man was a genius. IIRC, he took his daughter to a birthday party and all the kids were doing this dance called "The Twist". So he wrote this song about that dance. Absolute genius. Thanks for posting!

  • Prior to the word being associated to a life style the word "gay" originally met to be happy.

  • back in the day "gay" meant happy.

(even tho they mention a "queen" later on in the song, it means the girl he is dancing with!

  • one of the best albums i ever braught

  • lol..it means happy...cheerful..it's the original meaning of the word gay...I don't know when gay became synonymous with homosexuals..but u could look it up
