They used to always dominate Korea, but now Korea is playing very good baseball too and now the rivalry (or derby as you call it) is much more competitive than it used to be

This was far more exciting to watch then American baseball. Helmets cracked, two nations passionately playing for their country, both sides cheering like maniacs, and sheer craftiness. Although I hoped Korea to win, it was still a great game.
Japan has proven for two straight WBCs that they're the best team in the world. The US can claim it has the most talent, and it probably does, but as the old saying goes, championships aren't won on paper.

baseball is gay, players are way overpay for how much physical work they put in. i laugh when a baseball player get hurt cuz there's no way a player can be hurt with all the waiting they do. the only player who's working the most is the catcher and pitcher the rest just scratch their ass waiting to hit or the ball to be hit to them. none would last 2 minute playing tennis with a woman even though it involved hitting a ball with a stick-like object cuz there's too much running involved

I'm not saying tennis is not hard or anything because it is but until you can play baseball like the dudes in this video can then come put a real comment on. @Baseballallstar4 now you're implying and adding more to what i said. baseball pitching is 80% mechanics 20% strength. batting is 60/40. of course you need strength in baseball but not as much as other sports. as for stamina running 6 sec for grounder or base hit is not the same as the running the whole game during soccer or basketball match. i've played baseball before and fell asleep during batting wait and outfielding wait...just boring. i might as well play a playstation 3 version of it.

@Baseballallstar4 the cross sports pro-jumpers didn't know how much mechanics they have learn to become second nature so they feel overwhelm and unmotivated overtime, eventually quitting. pitchers are the only player i like and should be paid higher than other players cuz they are working the most and amount of time in years they put into pitching mechanics plus they are the front line in the defense. thats alot of pressure. if i hit a home run on you, you would be more to blame as a pitcher.

Pitchers work on mechanics but infielders and outfielders put in 1000's to millions of reps because when a screaming grounder comes to them they have to be able to make a clean play. Pitchers only pitch like mabye 1-2 games then rest for like 3-4 games. When infielders and outfielders are mostly in every game.

@AntiFaithNY History is still being brought up on things that relate to both countries. If the Japanese solved everything correctly and admitted their crimes and wrong doings during their colonization and the reign of their empire, such debate wouldn't be necessary (just like the Jews don't argue with Germany with such historic differences). Korea doesn't have such power as Japan to claim and prove anything, so its up to Japan.

@AntiFaithNY You cannot of course say Japanese are "bad" as they have their purposes, just like we love Korea they love Japan. However, some history must be re-corrected and apologies must be made, that is the reason why some Koreans hate them and the Japanese react. For ex. Sea of Japan, more than half of the territory is claimed and administered by Korea. Koreans protest because in the map it shows like the whole of it belongs to Japan.

The reason why some Koreans still hate Japanese is because the Japanese government and foolish nationalists don't and didn't apologize for their historic crimes in the 20th century and claim some nonsense

@jonas4j Unfortunately that won't happen, not because they don't want to, I'm sure ESPN would love to show international baseball games, but they have to show MLB, NCAA, and not to mention how big women's softball is getting that it's almost required to be shown on TV, so there isn't much air time for foreign games in the season.

This was far more exciting to watch then American baseball. Helmets cracked, two nations passionately playing for their country, both sides cheering like maniacs, and sheer craftiness. Although I hoped Korea to win, it was still a great game.

THATS the reason why Japan is so famous now and regarded the best country in Asia overall (China is economically top, but there is still a huge difference between wealthy and the poor).

Japan started war against America because they were forced not to get oil and food supplies from other countries, which started to make the country poor. @spezzarocks1919 i admit i dont have extensive knowledge of japanese history like you do, but i do know that japan was the top dog in asia because it industrialized muich earlier than other asian countries and was competing with on a global level. and japan never ended up being forced to not take resources from other nations until japan surrendered in ww2, which brings us back to japan being at the top before they were defeated...

@bballpsycho64 You're right on one part, Japan wasn't invaded by any countries until WW2 and thats why Japan ended up being the top at economy, industry, and technology. That being said, when they lost WW2, they went from top to bottom. The pollution and radiation was insane, and everything was burnt down. You have no clue how hard it is to comeback to the top while having absolutely nothing.

I'm Korean. This game was incredible! I'm so proud that S.Korea won Olympic Gold in baseball and made it to the finals for the WBC. There was nothing to lose because we exceeded everyone's expectations.
DO NOT pitch to Ichiro! In my opinion, he's the best MLB player! This was a mistake. Congratulations to Japan, but do not disrespect S.Korea's accomplishment to face you in the finals.

baseball is gay, players are way overpay for how much physical work they put in. i laugh when a baseball player get hurt cuz there's no way a player can be hurt with all the waiting they do. the only player who's working the most is the catcher and pitcher the rest just scratch their ass waiting to hit or the ball to be hit to them. none would last 2 minute playing tennis with a woman even though it involved hitting a ball with a stick-like object cuz there's too much running involved

@a552bcx yeah but baseball takes lots of time and skill. Not anyone can go out on a field and have a natural ability to play the game. You try hitting a 90-100 mph ball at 90 feet kid. It ain't so easy and having a line drive or grounder smashed to you at speeds to 100 and over. I don't think so. and outfielders. oh heck yes they have to fun. thats a long way to catch or dive for a ball that is like 200 yards behind you thats going faster then Usain bolt.

@Baseballallstar4 ALL sports takes skills, this so called sport require quick hand eye coordination like ping pong, but that's not the point. other real sport like american football, soccer, basketball and hockey requires MORE. what is more- stamina and strength which this so called sports(baseball) lacks. play hockey and you'll see the puck is much faster than a baseball; hockey puck can reach an average of 150 mph and nobody is standing around this require stamina. try running 1 mile not 3 sec

@Baseballallstar4 pitching and batting requires body mechanics and leverage to overcome strength like using a dolly to lift a fridge. to prove my point, an average asian don't have stamina nor total body strength like an average african (i'm not an african nor caucasian by the way) but they do have excellent quick hand-eye coordination, that's why you don't see asian excell in the other sports except this so called sport, named baseball

@Baseballallstar4 now you're implying and adding more to what i said. baseball pitching is 80% mechanics 20% strength. batting is 60/40. of course you need strength in baseball but not as much as other sports. as for stamina running 6 sec for grounder or base hit is not the same as the running the whole game during soccer or basketball match. i've played baseball before and fell asleep during batting wait and outfielding wait...just boring. i might as well play a playstation 3 version of it.

If your not good at the sport and don't actually no how hard baseball players work then you can't talk about how they are getting overpaid. I do admit pitchers get overpaid but everyone else should be getting paid what they get paid

@Baseballallstar4 the cross sports pro-jumpers didn't know how much mechanics they have learn to become second nature so they feel overwhelm and unmotivated overtime, eventually quitting. pitchers are the only player i like and should be paid higher than other players cuz they are working the most and amount of time in years they put into pitching mechanics plus they are the front line in the defense. thats alot of pressure. if i hit a home run on you, you would be more to blame as a pitcher.

Pitchers work on mechanics but infielders and outfielders put in 1000's to millions of reps because when a screaming grounder comes to them they have to be able to make a clean play. Pitchers only pitch like mabye 1-2 games then rest for like 3-4 games. When infielders and outfielders are mostly in every game.

Cause you know everyone else is in front of a crowd so what happens if an infielder doesn't work ? I guarantee that person will make an error because they didn't put in reps and work and thats embarrassing just the same if a pitcher does bad.
