A bit of little clarification. I wasn't talking about former President Chen's case. According to the criminal codes, the prosecutor can detain an individual up to 4 months without charging him/her. I personally think it is unfair to any individual under investigation, but unfortunately that's the law Taiwan has right now. I do think that judicial and constitutional reform is imperative and essential for Taiwan's democracy to be fully consolidated.
What you said may be true in your workplace. You are in a small corner and try to project it into the world. These students are very intelligent and know the right from the wrong. When police violates human right and they have the courage to voice their objection, that's admirable.
There is nothing wrong to stand up for what you believe in and to change laws that are unconstitutional and erroneous.

Seriously, pan-green supporters and communist china supporters are so alike. They only noe how to criticize others but never try to dicipline or reflect upon the bullshit they do. Comparing themselves to Martin Luther king Jr when they act like Malcolm X, starting a mob beating up ppl...and complain when the police arrest them...what a buch of savages.
My point was, there is nothing wrong with standing up for what you believe in. The red shirts were also on the streets standing up for they were against, corruption. When the people think the government is not doing the right thing, they have the rights to voice their discontent. That's the reason why Taiwan is the vibrant democracy it is today. Lastly, here is a way to have a legitimate discourse and discussion without using curse words and name-calling or labeling.
I dont think u understand how diff the situation is here? There is strong evidence about corruption in CSB gov and that he violates Taiwan constitution, if ppl let him continue, the gov may as well be disband. Police have the rights of putting down riots if they gone overboard. Yet, the president and his lackies have no rights to secretly accept money from businesses and put them into bank accounts in the world.
Btw, i like u like phrase "here is a way to have a legitimate discourse and discussion without using curse words and name-calling or labeling."
I apologizes about curse words i use, kinda get too emotional here. Although i still think the means in which pan-green supporters and angry communist supporters getting what they wan is very similar. (but again that is just my opinion)
There is strong evidence of corruption from both camps, and that is very unfortunate. The ordinary citizens are the ones getting the shortest end of the sticks. That's who I feel for the most. I sincerely hope the current administration of Taiwan review the policies they've adopted and hope to implement to make sure that the policies are truly good for the people.
Whne I see these student demonstrate against police brutality against people in the Freedom Square, I know there is hope for Taiwan. Let's all look forward to a better future. Taiwan will overcome those evil political oppression eventually.
