The wheels didn't spin. You might as well put larger wheels at the back, to increase traction, especially on grass, since that's where the engine power is going to.

Being rear engined, it would also benefit from more weight towards the back end of the go kart.

@AIsoft90 bigger rear tires looks better, dosnt necessarily mean it is better, the engine has to work less to spin s smaller tire then a larger tire, the larger tire will go faster in the end, BUT a smaller tire with get you up to speed faster

yes, i'm going to be a buzz kill:

having the inside wheel spin while you drive in circles does not count as a burnout.

that only happened because you don't have a differential.

if you really were spinning both wheels the entire time, you'd have proper oversteer (aka tail out, counter steering, "drifitng")

I have seen several 5h.p. b&s karts go 100+ mph, it is all about tuning, gearing, and running extremely high test gasoline, lol... that and you have to live in the country, where things like this happen regularly..

When going around a corner, your inside wheel needs to turn more slowly than your outside wheel. This is what a differential is for and this is why you are tearing up moms grass.

If you geared and tune this for performance, what would the max speed of your kart be? I'm getting 2.5 Briggs motors but I really doubt it can push anything over 20 mph instead of the target 30.

@annihil8ted You can make a 2.5hp go 200km/h if you want. Its all about gearing. Gearing determines the speed. You want more top speed you sacrifice acceleration. So if you gear it for like 50km/h it will have decent acceleration where as if you only geared it for like 20km/h it would just do constant wheel spins.

@brendonv101~ i highly doubt a 2.5hp kart would get anywhere near 200 clicks!. Even if it was at red line revs at 200kmh. The resistance from the AIR would be too much for the motor. And if it could get to 200kmh it would probably take too long to get there; youd simply run out of room. Unless you're on one of those inward tilting circle tracks.... but they're just lame!
