  • No pants, heat, sweaty, mmmmm

  • I have the same bobble head, only it's orange and on a toilet.

  • aww stand up a little more

  • @Ciaela Thank you very much! Really great words.

  • Love the end. Sadly, I have to wear pants when its hot.

  • What did you said at 5:47 to the end

  • @Mrmasterfer she's not wearing pants

  • How did you got on the idea to go to Japan? and wy and how and how old where you?

  • loved that all this touchy-emotional stuff, then "i'm not wearing any pants, cause its hot outside." sounds like Canada has lost another awesome person to one of the countries i want to visit/live in at some point

  • I'ts kind of nice to listen to your story, you know... I'll check you once in a while for sure.

BTW: The music at the end is a bit too loud ;-)

  • agreed, I'm always like "wellll I'll go to Japan when I've learned enough Japanese" but if I keep saying that I'll never go. I need to just GO. Thanks for the encouragement :)

  • FUKING HELL DONT CRY

  • you go kiddo

  • did graduating from a language school help your japanese a lot?

  • You make me want to get to Japan so bad! I nearly gave up on it until I found your videos. And this one has made me even more encouraged. I'm going to keep learning and definitely keep watching your channel. I hope this comes out right (excuse my broken Japanese >_< ):

    わたしのこころからありがとうございます! ^ ^

  • I really wanted to do a highschool year too (in france) but because of some unfortunate healthproblems I couldnt go :(. So nu im studying, but I like that too :P

  • you very cute !

  • What kind of work did you do in Kumamoto?

  • i don't know if you've answered this already, i've looked at a bunch of your videos and didnt seen anything. But what age exactly did you start learning japanese? Like i know you said you didnt speak japanese when you were an exchange student, but i thought you said in another video that you knew i little bit then? were you already taking lessons already before that? ill be 18 in 4 months, i sorta want to learn japanese too im not sure yet tho

  • i'm gonna do that to put on my cv! when i know what that is... ya.

  • Well Ciaela im from small town also where everyone know eachother so i know what You ment by saying that You dont like it,I dont like it also but hey You should treat it with some distance;) We all got reveries,You got chance to live in Japan for a while and noone will take that experience from You :) Wish You all good and You know what ive been watching You for a while but on this vid You look gorgeous:3

  • Added to my favorites. Stong girl, great decisions, makes unique.

  • A lonely person in a lonely world.

we are growing up and getting old. (T_T)

    Life is a journey.

  • you never addressed why you went to japan in the first place..at least why you wanted to be away from the west for so long and whatever else.

  • What an extraordinary life journey!! If you've already addressed this question please refer me to the video...Out of all the places in the world, Why Japan?

  • But about you not told about the "cold sore" was not cool. Get a prescription and have your perspective partner and you take this pill(valtrex). It inhibits and/or prevents this cold sore from transmission.

  • your so far ahead; this reminds me of my younger years when i took that same journey far ahead of others. this is what will make you into a greater human--the experience of traveling broadens the horizen of the cultural perspectives of our humanities and our inner self. Great going young lady!

  • Thumbs up from Toronto, Ontario!

  • She said "Aside from getting married or enrolling in universities the next easiest thing" So she's not married folks. Hope that cleared stuff up~

  • YAY! thx for the story! and ending was hot! xD lol

  • Your a good inspiration to everyone! glad I watched this video this just gives me more energy to try harder.

  • You're apparently not married, but then I'd like to know what you meant at 4:22 =|

    Nice videos though! ^^

  • @D3m190d she said that both of the reasons can make people to can go to foreign countries (with all the visa doc stuff etc..) in here she said, aside from that, means other ways to go to japan without doing those two things

  • CONGRATULATIONS ON NOT GETTING MARRIED!!

  • かっこいいね

    めっちゃ頑張ったんやろうな^^きっと俺が想像してる以上に。

  • That's hot! lol

  • Your videos are so inspiring. I'm working a lot now and saving money so I can go to Japan and "test the waters" as you say. Arigato gozaimashita.

  • 5:48 i was like lower, camera lower xD btw nice vid i get what u sayin cuz i came to england 3 yrs ago and i had the same prob ;P

  • Very cool video :)

  • I know this is a old video , but full of life experience.. just.. nice

  • you look way younger then 21 or whatever you are lol. but when your 40 you will look 30 :)

  • I respect you. I have been in Canada for 4years. I know how difficult it is to get along with people who don't speak your language. And you chose to put yourself in the difficult situation. More exciting if it's challenging. Keep challenging.

  • so you are happily married!

    just joking xD

  • DO NOT GET MARRIED SO YOUNG BUT GO ON EXPLORE THE WORLD !!!

  • @whatisupfolks WHAT THE HELL WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK IM MARRIED??

  • @partners4japan 4:22 - 4:27 made it seem like you were saying getting married and enrolling in university were the hardest things you've done... Only if you weren't listening that closely though would you think that lol

  • congrats on getting married

  • @tjhall1000 NOT. MARRIED.

  • @partners4japan

lmao i know but everyone else is bugging her by saying it so i thought i would join in ^__^

  • The Canadians should lost much tears to loose such a pretty young women to the Japanese. Are you in danger ? How far do you live from the nuclear threat ?

  • eyebrows

  • you have a cool story!

  • Wow, this was really inspirational. I think what you have done is very admirable, and it's amazing the life you are making for yourself :] I can't even explain how much more motivated I am now. Thank you.

  • hey, whats those gadgets called? the green little man

  • どうも* lol

  • this has sort of inspired me to talk to sensei about options regarding japan and furthering my knowledge of japanese (which is pretty limited lol i only know enough to MAYBE talk to a first grader or so lol) and college and all that sorta stuff. Something as small as a video can have a huge effect on people, and i think it's really cool that u get your message out there to others. Thanks for the encouragement =) I hope u see this someday and know that you do and can effect people,

    どうもうありがとう =)

  • im so jealous

  • At 4:23, you say "Aside from getting married, or enrolling in university..."

I think that is what is throwing people off to think that you're married.

  • whats the music? explosions in the sky?

  • I live in japan too :)

  • At the last part, I thought she was saying "I'm not having any plans. It's hard outside (the world)."

Eventually, I found out it was "I'm not wearing any pants. It's hot outside." actually...... = =

  • congrats on getting married!!

  • @oldmanscribbe1 WHY DO PEOPLE THINK I GOT MARRIED?

  • @Ciaela precisely at 4:22 you state, "I got married". haha...j/m(that means just messin...new thing I'm startin)

  • @Ciaela Some people don't listen to all that you say but at: 4:21 It had sounded like you had gotten married.

But anyway, yeah your not married, people need to listen more closely.

  • @Ciaela I think another vlogger got married recently, but I can't remember who. I guess there's a resemblance.

  • @gokuo64 i think your talking about hiroko?

  • @Ciaela Well I think its because at 4:24 your are saying " Besides from getting married....."

People probably don't listen very carefully :-).

  • @Ciaela Congratulations! *clap clap clap*

  • @Ciaela People think you're married because you said "...aside from getting married or enrolling in university...". P.S. I love those amazing black eyes and cute yaeba teeth!

  • @Ciaela LOL When you said "...aside from getting married or enrolling in university, the next easiest thing for me to do was apply for language school...." when we heard "getting married" we jumped to conclusions... I did at first too because I wasn't listening to how you worded your sentence.

  • @Ciaela they are being trolls laidy XD

  • @Ciaela Lol thats how I feel a lot. Except I'm younger, and I hang out with my friend all the time and she so happens to be a girl... and everyone in my life thinks that we're in a relationship of some sort.

  • @oldmanscribbe1 she said it was something she needed to do not something shes done

  • And how did you get the money to go there? o: I just don't know what to do, but it's my dream to ever go to Japan and it would be so awesome to be able to live there.

  • Damn, you motivate me so much to work hard and go to Japan :) I'm 14, but I don't really understand how I can go to Japan. I mean, I often see foreigners who are 16 or 17 years old and go to school in Japan, but how do they do that?

  • omg you have motivated me so much, like i have always wanted to go there, now i see i just got to do it, and stop thinking it, it was so nice to know all of this, thankyou for sharing it

  • So if you've already gone to Japan for a year on a working visa... can you come back and live in Japan if you then apply to a language school? Because all my dreams were ruined when it seemed that the only way to live in Japan is if you have a University degree or if you get married to a Japanese person. If anyone could answer this I'd be super chuffed ;)

  • so if you apply to school you get a work visa ? damn my dream is coming true :O

  • very inspiring story Micaela, I've prob seen this vid 5 times already :P I was thinking of taking a year at NILS, do you think I should? It is a lot of money :( Do you think it was worth it?

  • Wow, that's really cool. I wanna go, but first I need to get past my crippling laziness. I blame my upbringing! >_< lol. So you work as a teacher, but what do you teach?

  • Wow your story is awesome! All power to you for chasing such an adventure! I am glad i some how stumbled upon your video(s)

  • lol i'm not affraid of an exchange bc of language.it's the price >.>

    YOU raise 15 000 $ without scolarships. ><

  • hello Michaela I'm a college student living in Miyazaki. I like watching your videos it's so interesting to hear your talking about Japan:) What is your dream? Are you planning to live in Japan after you graduate your study?

  • I'm desperate to do an exchange in Japan! So, I'm going to apply to Rotary this time next year so I go there the autumn after I've done my GCSEs! Gotta save up money and get good grades and stuff(to prove to my parents- mainly my dad- that I'm "worthy") and learn more Japanese and dialects(just in case) but I will get there, I have to! You're an inspiration Ciaela, I've finally got a plan in life!

  • Thank you for sharing you experience!

I just realized again how much I regret it not having been abroad while I had the chance and the time.

I'll finish school in spring so I can't go the "easy" way as exchange student but I really wanna go to Japan and I am sure that I'll find a way :D

    Thank you for inspiring people!

  • you are sooo adoreable :)

  • keep it up. your tenacity & drive inspire more than you know

  • Never seen any of your videos until today...

You've just inspired me to do whatever makes me happy in life.

  • wait,... married ?

you're like 21 ! thats so young (too young)! how old were you when you got married ? Are you guys still together ?

  • @SignUpForFreeToday What? I'm not married.

  • @Ciaela

ehe. sry then. I thought that you said " aside from getting married." somewhere. lol. XD.

  • @Ciaela Good. ^_²

  • Had to thumbs up for the no pants HAHA!

  • We are all students and teachers when it comes to life.

  • I like all your videos. You make me laugh. You are so adorable!

  • yayyy))) When I was small I bet I was a jerk. BUT NOW, I'm totally 100% different jerk from a jerk I was before!))) hey, honestly :)

  • Very encouraging vid !! Thank you !!

I'm Japanese. Your vid makes me want to go abroad .

  • One of my friends once said it best.. "..Go to another country, find a really crappy job where the boss and workers yell at you all the time and you will learn the language whether you like it or not.."

  • You sound like a very nice person. But it's so cute, you look like you're only 14 but you're so much older!

XD That's good, though. Because you'll look great when you're thirty. Also, lmao at the ending.

  • I would love to go to Japan. It's beautiful.

I'm going to go one day. Thank you for sharing : )

  • [: that is so awesome, I think I might want to test the waters in NILS language school myself, since I might not be able to pay my own university, but it is still something I want to do. Did you work when you took your classes in Japan to pay for schooling and such or some loan?

  • its called solar power

  • haha, "sassy little punk" ~ best description of teenagehood I've heard.

  • 自分も同じような経験(中学で日本→英国)あるから、気持ち凄く解る。

    一番キツい経験だったけど、最も成長できた時間だったと思う。

    今思えばインターネットが普及する前だったのも辛かった;

  • 頑張れよ!

  • Ola? Beautiful. - for |Brazil.

  • Ola? Beautiful. - for |Brazil.

  • Sorry for commenting on 4 of your videos in a sequential row, but I was all like ='[ when you said you didn't know Japanese and it was scary ='[

So Japan is recommended? I'll have to go after school ^-^

    Might go to university lol!

I'm not sure why I'm telling you, you wont care =P

    Bye =D

  • Oh, this video is both amazing and sad (and music inspires me some sorrow). First months lonelyness while you are discovering another world, another country. But finally all of this helps you to grow up.

This is my fourth year in Argentina. When I came I didn't know about their way of being without my family and my friends, but finally I could adapt. Humans can adapt anywhere! My advice is "No questions! Just live it!"

Thank you for sharing your emotions.

  • I like your hair color in this video the best. Have you tried purple yet? What color is your hair naturally?

  • oh.japan`s fan.

    come on tokyo city.

  • Were you getting alil misty toward the end? Good video... Some things I always wanted to know.

  • im comenting without pants. btw ur hot

  • Your TWELFTH year of high school?

    Oh dear...

  • I wan't to go to school in Japan just like you!! :D))

  • Nice Video, i had no idea you could get a working visa to study??? Any chance of getting a follow up video with more info?

    Keep up the great work

  • Comment removed

  • hey love the video! I didnt know you could study part time and work sugoi! How long can you do that for?

  • your awe-inspiring. can't wait till i go to japan too!

  • Americans aren't allowed working holiday visas in Japan. =(

  • Comment removed

  • The foreign language is an accident immature ear.

    Do you live alone?

  • Cool. Thanks for sharing your story. I grew up in northern Japan (Aomori prefecture) though I am an American (well...close enough to Canada I guess?). so it is interesting to find people like you. Thanks again!

  • Thank you so much for sharing!

This is an awesome inspiring video! =) Wonderful!

  • Ciaela さん, U Rock! a Shining star u r ^^! Ganbate ne!

  • I envy you and your accomplishments. It's been my dream to visit Japan to see how it's like. Thank you for your input and ideas for you help open up doors to those who can't find them :)

  • You should be really proud of yourself. My girlfriend moved from Vietnam to USA when she was 17--although she did speak English pretty well. We met randomly at our university, and, about a year later, I actually left the country the first time and lived with her family in Vietnam last summer. It was a pretty amazing time. They seem happy with their decision, although they feel very close to VN and still miss Saigon all the time.

  • Love this one! It is inspiring.....besides the last 5 seconds....that is kind random to hear that.....or I misunderstood that sentence....anyway! Good Luck and keep it up in Japan!

I am working on going there, too! :)

  • You are such a brave girl.

  • Just came across your channel, and watched a couple of videos.

Thanks for this vid though, it's nice to have a little insight to who you are.

Always wanted to move to Japan to get away from here. Hopefully i'll sort myself out one day and do it.

It's really intresting watching your vid's and following your story!

Definitely gunna sub and watch the rest. =]

  • i hope you read MY message that i sent you just now!

  • i love this video, you are such a nice person inside, and it has been fun watching you grow into a beautiful young lady.

  • Thanks for sharing <3 i always loved your videos and will continue to watch them, so long as you keep making new ones :)

  • If you are interested in Thailand view story in a different Click to view the video of the floor. You will find stories that differ from those used to recognize you.

  • Good for you, I think its realy cool that at a young age you have such insight about your self, good luck on your continuing journey :)

  • Great Video! nice background story.

I did wonder why you didn't post as many videos when you went back to Canada.

though I suppose I never really questioned the part about whether you were a student or a teacher, maybe its just my personal perspective that I was intrigued by your videos because of you and always enjoyed your point of view.

guess I just tend to accept people regardless of the details :) glad to finally see your back in Japan. you seem much happier when you are there!

  • really really nice and personal video and interesting !

Keep your stuff coming, I enjoyed watching this !

    5*

  • ooh! i have a nohohon too. mine's called momoiro, he's pink. they're so cute and happy!

  • Thank you so much for this video. ^o^ It's really great, and for someone that is a bit confused about the visas like I am, it helped out. :D Keep 'em coming, you're such an inspiration!

  • what's the song in the background??

  • You can file this music under "You can do it too" or "Say no to drugs".

  • Your approach seemed to be a daring one. As for me I would rather study about Japan before actually coming there. Including the history. Call me a coward, but that is my approach. If I need a hand I might ask you.

  • Wow I don't look at my subs as often as often as I used to. I now look at them maybe twice a month. I came across this video and honestly forgot who you were (sorry -_-') I like the music with this. Seriously if you were just sitting there talking I would have stopped this in the middle but the music adds to your story and kept me extremely interested. It was so nice. Just thought I'd trow that out there.

  • You get a lot of asshole commentors sometimes on here I like how you treat it like an adult, as opposed to me who is a complete asshole who just blocks and deletes comments against my awesomeness!

You are a great girl and there is a reason I stay subbed to you and montage awesome-ness! Shizzle and black black ;)

  • very honest... very rare !

  • its beautiful, seeing someone rise from the ashes of youth with the drive to really explore and live life for the better, instead of wasting it life's an adventure and your in the lead , much luck and peace to you take care

  • If you say so?

  • Do you get a lot of jerks like this? I really hope not. Thanks for an inspiring video and I want one of those dancing thermometer for my daughter.

You should get a PO box if there is such a thing in Japan. I'm sure everyone would love to send you little treats in the mail. I know I suggested it to another youtuber and now they have a video weekly on what they got in the PO Box.

    Good day!!

  • thank you for your advice. I'm also doing high school in Italy and I came here 5 years ago knowing nothing. I learnt also the language and thanks to you maybe after I graduate I would think to do the same experience with a language school in Japan ;P cheer up girl you're awesome.

  • Really admire your courage in going to Japan over and over again =)

  • And vlogging without pants.

  • the most difficult thing to go trought is that people you love and you miss just dont grow up. i think you are doing great, you have plenty of new oportunities to take, if you know how can handle yourself a life today you will find the way to keep going on it, the hardest thing to do in this life, is not keeping alive or in the path to be some one, is Starting, so get used to live at your dreams.

    Good Luck!

  • I hadn't realized you first came to Japan as a high school exchange student. That rocks! At my school, we get exchange students from Germany, France, Australia... and I see them go through just what you mentioned: the struggle and frustration the first few months, the revelation when things finally start to "click", and then the tears when they have to go back home. That's cool you were able to get back to Japan so soon. Be careful, though, or you may end up becoming a lifer!

  • I think the purpose of this time in Japan, is to put me in a proper state of mind, so that I can return and lead a happy life in Canada with my new-found life skills.

I wouldn't mind having a job that allowed me to travel back and forth, but it would be far to easy to just come to Japan at age 17 and decide that the rest of my life belongs here.

  • Yeah. I came to Japan when I was 32 so I already sort of knew what post-college life in America was like, but I have some friends here that came just out of college, stayed for years, then tried to go back and found it really hard to readjust to life back home. You seem to have a good sense of who you are and what you want to do, though, so I think you'll find the best balance.

  • also, how old are you now?

  • A simple glance at my profile reminds me that I'm 21.

  • really? you don't look it. i was gonna say you were 18-19. a few things:

    1. when people come to america and can't speak english, it bothers everyone right? well, it's only fair to learn the language of the country your going to. not only does it further your understanding of the people and their culture, but also it can create great friendships and worthwhile job opprotunities.

  • That is so true. I have a Korean lady that cuts my hair and I've learned a few simple words like thank you and have a nice day in Korean just to let her know I appreciate her. She also give a great cut.LOL

  • do you live in the us? also, can't wait till the next vid. just started watching, and so far so good.

  • @Ciaela You are simply amazing!!!!!!

  • ok. i really enjoy your vids. actually watched them all today. i was searching for things to help when i go to japan. i waould like a working hoiday visa, but i don't know how to go about getting one. my reason for going? most go for fun, wanting to find good anime or what not, but me? i'm going for a job, working for sony.

  • (I'm writing this again 'cause youtube f*ckd me :( )

    Thanks a lot, Ciaela.

This video makes me so happy and renews my hop to move to Japan.

As I said in other video, I'm studying English Filology in Spain and my dream is to move to Japan and work as teacher in a University or something, teaching Spanish and english :D

I'll try to improve my english, I'm sorry if something is bad.

And... of course, thnx for this video, I love it because it helps me to improve my listening of english =)

    Bb!

  • Comment removed

  • Just... Thank you.

You are actually crushing my fears.

As I said in another video, I'm studying English Filology and I hope to move to Japan to become a teacher of Spanish/English.

I'll try to improve my english so... thnx, 'cause this video helps me to improve my listening :D

I'll wait an answer so... if u're bored, please, give me support to catch my dream.

  • That was totally my plan for a while. Without a degree, you can't get a work visa (unless, like you said, you marry, go to Uni, or have 10 years professional experience)... so I guess I'll just have to fake it.

Only thing... I was pretty sure students could only work a certain amount of hours per week. Is that true?

I wish the States had a working holiday program. Boo.

  • Yes, it's the same restrictions as Working Holiday Visas, part time work, up to xxx number of hours per week, but nobody really pays attention to that..

  • Is that sustainable? That is, could you stay perpetually enrolled in a language school, and make enough to cover rent + tuition?

See... I'm a freelancer... and I can work from pretty much anywhere, but I have a feeling that free
