  • I always start books, but I never finish them. D:

  • @riceroudis Try reading by chapter, in any form. First, third, fifth, etc.

  • I have been a writer and freelancer for over 15 years.

I have written hundreds of articles for newspapers and magazines.

To be frank, this video doesnt address the nuts and bolts of being a writer.

This largely mind over matter pablum that-while edifiying to some mentally-doesnt provide a clear and concrete framework to be a real working writer let alone a successful one.

If you dont address the real world aspects of writing, you will never be a writer.

  • I have plenty ideas for my story. I know it inside out, but my problem is descriptive writing. I can't seem to describe people and places without rambling.

  • @lizrulz1 Practice is the key. Try describing small thing, person. Write exactly what you see, only vital details and don't ramble. You can do it.

  • lol she needs to watch a video on how to speak . im sure she is a great writter tho

  • This is really great advice, so inspiring! It's exactly the kind of motivation I needed for the rut I was in.

  • @remip89 I'm happy it helped.

  • i cant hear shit

  • Does a writer have to also look for bad clip art? Eww.

  • you need to speak up, i can barely hear you

  • @pyramidhead138 O, ok.

  • At first at thought this vid was going to be bogus, but it's just what one wants to hear if he's feeling low on confidence. You also have a cool accent which is another plus.

  • @MrSpanky87 I feel it's important to be you, real, and it will shine through. I hope the video helped. Believe in yourself, even on the days when confidence wants to slide away. I have a accent. Giggles.

  • I hope it helps, inspires you. Reach for your dream. Smiles.

  • Thank you so much for posting. Your message and your soft spoken voice is so soothing and encouraging. "Don't let anything or anyone stop you from reaching your writing dream". This makes me feel like I can really do this. Thank You!

  • @virgosbest75 It was my pleasure to post. Thank you for your kind words. If I can, I know you can. I believe in you, your talent. Smiles.

  • Adora, I agree, a support system will help.

  • Another writing tip I have is join a chat group. It may sound funny-- but in April of last year I joined FMwriters and I found that I improved my writing so much, plus I met some very talented people. If you have a support system it will help-- free classes (entire site is free)

  • Thank you for stopping by. You make very good points, but sometimes, you need a writing break. You'll go back refreshed.

  • @bryngOneOn It's easy to find a reason not to write, you just have to do it. Comments help, but writing is a must. I made the video as a way to help

others, and keep my creative flow going.

  • also your not just creating when your sat in front of your desk, if you do it enough, creating that is, then it can fill any moment, when your in a queue, waiting for the kettle to boil, over the months it will come to a point when you cant wait to get home to get those ideas down on paper. if ur lucky ur .... hang on i've got the vid running and ur saying what i'm writing here, i've done it again, my bad habit talking and not listening

  • what you say in this video, in this case i totally agree with you, sorry i didnt get to the end but from what i heard you spoke much wiseness, i think also, maybe you say it later on, is that you need to remember how great you feel when you get "that line" just so. it's a feeling of euphoria you just cant get anywhere else, and that should alone get the pen in ur hand, for the idea of feeling that way again, but if u do say that later on sorry for reitterating you train of thought

  • This is possibly the best advice i've ever heard. You speak on key points that signify the essence of comming across an idea and taking it for your own, running with it ,living it and making it possible to show the world your own reality.

I think the only issue I have is my spelling, that and I have a habbit with runon sentances too.

  • First, thank you for your comment. Put down a finished project for several days. Come-back to it refreshed, and you'll be better able to spot errors. Use a spell-checker. Read through your work slowly to hear run-on sentences. If you can't hear when a sentence is running wild, ask a trusted friend to read over it. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
  • I suggest that you write down your ideas. Write about ideas that excite your imagination. Try to write at the same time each day. Keep working on the idea until it's completed.

All writers have doubts about their work, but don't stop writing because you think it sucks.

The way to handle your problems are to write each day, and finish writing a piece before you decide it sucks.

After writing something, don't look at it for five days. Go back to make corrections.

  • I have two major problems. I'm kinda young, but I enjoy to write. And by young, I mean I'm 13. Write now, I got the problem of, seeing as I can't stop thinking of ideas, I have to start something. Then, I always think that my writing sucks and it isn't good. D: I don't know how to fix those problems.

  • It's time to write.

Write down where you want to go with it. Don't stop to edit.

Put it away for a couple days.

Review what you've written, and continue writing.

Let me know how it works out.

  • Ive been stuck on a novel for 7 months now and I know how I want it to go but cant seem to take it there any tips

  • you need to learn how to speak...your voice is so annoying

  • Very good advice, and you're right don't let people make you sad that you've written a poem which had errors..everyone makes them so you've just got to keep practicing and soon or the later you'll be ready to write successfully.

  • Right, everyone makes mistakes. If you make a mistake, correct it, and move on. Believe me, I've made my sure of mistakes.

  • I have to agree with the others here; you have such a soft and calming voice. One that you find trust and support in! :)

And thanks for the advices. They are pretty much the same as what everyone else says, but you can never her it often enough, I'd say!

  • I'm happy if I can offer useful advice, to calm. It's part of the human helping link.

Thank you for your kind words.

  • You're so nice and your voice is so soft.

Plus, you don't bash on idiots :]

  • Thank you. It's very kind of you to say. I'm all about writing, the writing life.

  • This is comfusing. Do you think you can dumb it up for me??

  • What point is the most troubling for you?

  • All of it.

  • First, believe you're a writer, and keep a journal. If something interesting pops-up at you, jot it down. Come back later to develop the idea.

Write everyday to develop your writing skills.

Fiction and non-fiction has a beginning, middle, and conclude.

  • This was a very nice and informative piece. Thank you for your words of wisdom! Peace and Blessings.

  • Thank you for your kind words.

  • It was my pleasure to post the video, but thank you for viewing. You left a nice comment. How kind of you. I never paid attention to my voice.

  • thanks for posting this video, i've always wanted to write a novel :)

PS: you have a really soft voice!

  • Thank you.
