love it or hate it a Basic Ranger is the same exact thing as your Basic infantry marine... Rangers ARE NOT under Socom which closes this debate whether recon or ranger is better neither are....

@DONTdoSMACK Recruiters hold general information, hence the inquiry. Eveyone would do it? Um last i checked they "all" Do try...hundreds do a year and few make it. As far as uneducated labels go, clearly based on the context (which you set up yourself) being the only thing to judge, I would stick by that statement. Last I checked inquiries=problem solving. And last anyone checked the army does take people who can't problem solve..the exact reason for forming a prestigious task force.

@shooby106 uh... I hope you're not talking to the same recruiter for both of them. Seals is Navy,ya know... Rangers are Army. Enlist 11B with a Ranger Contract. Tell him that's the only way you'll sign on the dotted line. Basic, AIT, Airborne School, RIP, Ranger Battalion, E-3P - Ranger School. After a become a seasoned warrior, try out for CAG/ SFOD Delta. FUCK NAVY SEALS! RLTW!

@commando234167 No one operator is "better," so to say. Rangers just do A LOT more than recon marines because their mission varies a lot wider than just looking through a pair of binoculars.

you can sign up to be a ranger, go straight to batt if you make it through RASP, thats what I did.

To be able to enter this competition, one must be a graduate of the US Army Ranger School and be in a command that has slots for the competition and will sponsor you. It requires months of training to get ready and beats the competitors into the ground, they are physically and mentally worn out by the end of three days with no scheduled sleep and constant activity.
