  • Dammit that dirt sounds terrible

  • good amp demo it's a shame it was done with double rails pickups...why not a normal single coil that most people uses?

  • @auau1 since when did everyone play the same pickups? Its 2012 Bro Paterno, get with the program.

  • @bradleynance i guess i was just saying that it'll be a lot more relevant to a lot more players if it's done with single coils or more traditional pickups....Isn't for two rock's market is for more of a vintage tone minded players?

  • @auau1 I agree in a sense, I'm just saying that its not the majority of the people now that play with the conventional set ups. Its all about something new and different to achieve personalization in your tone. Albeit alot of personalization can come from influences of the most standard equipment, one of the reasons I own a les paul. But the coil taps on my paul allow me to personalize my sound a little more. same reason this guy has rails in his strat.

  • @bradleynance his point is that the demo would be a lot more useful for a tonal comparison if it was done with the pickups most of us have. Same reason Burgs does most demos with a Strat and an LP....They have different pickups, tones, and character. I don't know anyone who has JohnnyBlades installed.

  • Very rigid playing, nice.

  • @JamieMoggridge but super good looking, that counts!!

  • @gabovski I don't know about that...

  • It's so...ugly. Not what I want in a Two-Rock.

  • @JimboMansonMB1 Check out the 65 Amps Ventura total WIN!

  • this amp sounds absolutely terrible... fail

Two Rock can do a lot better than this.

  • @awesomejohnnet I don't think its the amp, but the way they've chosen to demo it. Go to the Two-Rock website at listen to it in the hands of John Scofield....

  • @DrJeffers

You could be right, and as an Two Rock Enthusiast I hope so,

  • @DrJeffers The Scofield demo, relatively really isn't any better.

  • @awesomejohnnet You're right. Question is, why didn't they?

  • @bornburied

I think it may be because they are are now a success and maybe turning out new amps just to fill niches they missed and complete their line without really going tone nuts over the models as they did when they first started.

  • @realitywakeupslap Not really what I was suggesting.

Well I think it's obvious they are filling the lunchbox amp niche. 65 amps is doing it as well except thier amp has got the goods tone-wise.

Tone nuts? are you suggesting they just decided to make this amp's tone less than stellar? I think again you're right, the tone is mediocre.

  • OK...

    Now a Les Paul....

  • find someone else to demo an amp like this, this guy just doesn't do it justice

  • I like the look but for that price you can get a much better amp imo. I don't think this is Jordan's best demo either, the "Sunshine of Your Love" tone is wayyy off EC's tone.

    J5

  • @jammers5 Actually I have to admit that the sunshine of you love tone was the part I liked the most about this whole demo.

  • Price is a bit much for a 1 trick pony. I mean it sounds ok but frankly my BLACKSTAR HT-5 Stack sounds BETTER!

(SO does my Bugera V55HD just quietly!!!)

  • Too much money for too little amp. Buy a deluxe reverb and a TC electronics dark matter pedal, and take your wife out to black Angus and a hotel and fill the tank of your car for the same price!

  • take the guitar off the bloody fifth pickup setting for gods sake

  • Sounds awesome as everything that TR makes but this thing is fucking ugly as fuck!

  • Spare me the whining on the price. This a boutique brand. Do you complain you can't afford a Porsche just because you have a drivers license? Don't get me wrong, I can't afford one either, but aren't we all lucky these builders are out there making them, nonetheless?

  • @pedalnsquares Although there is an art to building amps, as far as tech goes, they are bottom dwellers. You can't compare the type of engineering that goes into a Porsche(or even a Lada) way of an analogy for amps.

The typical Two-Rock insides looks like a project circuit (as do Dumbles) thrown into a folded metal box..The only thing precision about a T-R is the panel silk screening. In otherwords tube amps, especially small ones are cheap and easy to make.TR relative price.

  • @bornburied A book is just ink and paper. But some books are masterpieces, some are trash. Its not the tech, but how they put it together that matters. The kind of judgement and experience involved to make a truly great tube amp involved is neither 'quick or easy'.

  • Comment removed

  • @DrJeffers Yes I did seperate the concepts of Art of design Vs the actual physical build. So that was already factored in.

This is not thier first amp build nor is the design some highly sophiticated design using cutting edge physics.Tweaking a design takes time.

So quick and easy is very relative.

Or else the amp would be worth even less.

  • @bornburied I have no idea what point(s) you are trying to make in all these posts. You don't like the amp? Think its overpriced (so don't buy it) or think TR are no better than some mid-priced current production Fenders (you'd have to play like Billie Joe Armstrong to seriously come away believing that) or it compares badly to the direct competition for this amp (I think you will be in a minority if so)? And to answer the ad hominem comment you later thought better of, I am a doctor, actually.

  • @DrJeffers 1.Having fun with a literary reference.

2.Inclusion of title is pretentious and frankly a bit bizarre considering the nature of this forum. Therefore "LOL".If even true, I'm sure you aren't a MD but most likely an engineer or any of the fields that don't include direct human intervention or support.

3.Yes I double checked my old post since I knew that I had no reason to appear to back pedal, that was my reason for editing-the "ad hominem" still stands.

    Fender is a joke.

  • @bornburied 'most likely an engineer or any of the fields that don't include direct human intervention or support'. Way off mark dude, but as its deeply irrelevant and none of your business it'll stay that way. I make no claims of authority, its just a music moniker that acknowledges my work. No more or less self regarding than nearly everyone else. Now bored of feeding chippy forum trolls and remembering why i don't tend to bother joining in, yawn. 'Fender is a joke'- you are a luminary Sir. :o

  • @DrJeffers Oh the old "Don't buy it" snippet of wisdom.Nope won't be, just like the other thousand things I won't be.I don't reward mediocrity.Doesn't mean I don't get to express my opinion.

Mariah Carey and many artist worse than her have sold more albums than the Beatles. So being a minority is a position I'm very familiar with.

Although I have no love for Fender, Two-Rock can't be compared with them in any respect. They wouldn't even exsist if it weren't for Leo & Co.

    K-Jeffers?

  • @DrJeffers As you can see many people are disappointed with the demo's/sound.

Since it's not a chip-off "The Rock" clean tone or dirty.

BTW I had already said to somebody else that the price is relative to the brand name.

The tone ain't there Jeffers-no matter the price.

  • @bornburied Sorry if previous reply was unduly arsey. Big gig last night, tired. I prefer to talk gear (as here), not contributors (as there), and get cross when i'm drawn in to that. I'll reserve judgement on this amp 'til i try it - you can tell very little about an amp from a YouTube demo (especially this one), & I know enough about Two-Rock to give them the benefit of the doubt until then. The 'Two-Rock=waste of money' brigade are very wide of the mark and issues are getting conflated here.

  • @bornburied At least 90% of the disappointed will be basing their assessment on this demo alone, which is not necessarily helpful. The Scofield demo gives a far better hint of the dynamics and response available. If someone of Scofield's standing is willing to go on tape saying how much he likes it, I'm inclined to at least stay curious rather than switching to tedious flame mode. I'm not saying I love this amp, but it looks interesting, and Bill Krinard is unlikely to have created a turkey.

  • @DrJeffers It was the best of amps,it was the worst of amps.

  • Way over priced, sounds crappy and no reverb...I just bought the new Acoustic 100 watt lead series 112 combo and it sounds fantastic! I am also a budget minded musician and the Acoustic has gain for days a very smooth distortion and it has reverb, delay and chorus. all that most of us need anyway. Oh, and it is very loud! I got it brand new from MF free delivery for $250 bucks! And believe me, it's more than loud enuff to cover any club gig.

  • Manic depression!

  • Good review. Nice amp but the PUs on the guitar are more impressive; clean and gutsy.

  • It has 2x12AX7 valves/tubes in the pre....not 3...

  • Where was the clean tone?

  • what is with the crazy ass prices?

  • -looks at price- WHUT?

  • So is this two-rocks entrance into the market of sell out amps? Sell outs

  • Looks like a cool amp, but it should REALLY have included Reverb in my opinion. It has a bit more gain than most of the Two Rock amps, but the 'secret sauce' on these amps is really the Clean channel...

  • which song is at 3:28???

  • @mojo94eca sunshine of you love by hairy boobies

  • @mojo94eca jkjk sunshine of you love!

  • @kobrw thanks i've been searching hte name of that song

    for very long time

  • @mojo94eca no prob!

  • Looks silly, doesn't sound as good as you would hope for the price. I would much rather just buy a small Egnater personally..

  • @scottishguitarguy DIng Ding Ding We have a winner!

  • Well, i really does not sound like the real ones.....the BIG ones that is.

  • Looks like SHIT

  • awesome man!

  • methinks a $200 pedal will be just as good...give me a break with these prices

  • @Jim71 As a guitar hobbyist, not a professional, it's gotten to the point where I just skip over the articles where guitar magazines review gear that's out of my price range. So much so, that I'm not even going to bother renewing my subscription because many of the reviews don't apply to me.

I wish there was a magazine completely dedicated to the budget guitar hobbyist.

  • @Jim71 A pedal can never create the tone of a tube amp

  • @Jim71 I agree!

  • @Jim71 Here, here! KINGSLEY AMPLIFICATION tube preamps in pedal format.

    "THE JUGGLER"

  • @Jim71 This is INSANELY cheap compared to to other Two-Rock amps!

  • @NHClassic30 Other too rock amps are INSANELY overpriced. This one is only a moderately overpriced.

  • @Nickpatient Good point!

  • Sunshine of Your Love!!

  • @LeNickNL Sunshine of your amp ;D

  • cool..

  • Ok...now how about throwing a reverb pedal in the effects loop and give us SOME CLEANS !!!! That's what most of us Two Rock wannabees are after......

  • @TwangKing24 Afraid I agree. A demo of a Two-Rock using hot single coils, the gain cranked to 11 and hackneyed rock licks is almost entirely missing the point. Come on chaps, you know better than this!

  • @DrJeffers Oh come on, thats just how versatile the amp is! *sarcasm*

  • @TwangKing24 Ummm Deluxe or Princeton Reverb is all you guys have ever needed.Give the money you saved to charity.

  • Am I missing something? What's so remarkable about this amp? It sounds like every low-watt amp out there. $1295 for the amp? $549 for the cab? Seriously? What am I missing here? I'll take my Vox AC-15CC2 any day of the week...

  • @2GoldensTosa Looks cool, though.

  • 1295........ Are you shitting me?

  • now i can save up to afford a two rock
