Red Sox GM Theo Epstein said Thursday that Mike Lowell is "on schedule" in his rehab from October hip surgery.

"He's definitely going to show up [at spring training]," said Epstein. "His routine may or may not be readjusted a little bit. What we're looking at as an organization is what is Mike like at the end of spring training. We want to be smart about this and not rush him back out there." Lowell should be in the starting lineup on Opening Day if he can avoid setbacks this spring.

You did feel it was time to break the game open. I saw batting practice, and balls were flying out towards left field. When you have two good hitters like Ramirez and Lowell who hit that way back-to-back, you really can't beat them both. You just have to pick one and hope for the best.
