  • I was a victim for 13 years. I served on a TM Board of Advisors. Trust me-it’s a mind control money cult; ruined my health, finances and relationships. See the documentary DAVID WANTS TO FLY before you get “initiated”. The “science” they spew is flawed and biased. Countless scientific studies have shown that TM is no more effective than repeating the word “one”. Where is the “world peace” they promised 30 years ago? Save your money and practice mindfulness meditation or self-inquiry. Both FREE!

  • Most papers supporting benefits of "transcendental" meditation are null and void. You are immediately disqualified as a researcher if you are personally involved in the activity. Even if is one thousand research papers or a million. If you are a member or practitioner...you are biased.

  • what was wrong with that talk? every bit of it made sense. open up yourself to ideas you arent used to because behind the door of the unknown lays the mysteries of the universe. its the way all breakthrough happens, experiencing and challenging the unknown.

  • brainwashed? that was a very beautiful talk

  • shit, man. the beatles have a lot to answer for. they should have stuck to acid.

  • The only think I didn't like about TM was that when you learn it you have to bring a white handkerchief and some fruit as an offering.

That sounded too much like a cult/religion to me.

I learned Acem meditation in London for about £60. Worth every penny. Very simple technique and no religion to it.

  • Why would you judge his work by his beliefs. It's like not electing Obama b/c he went to a racist church for 10 years straight.

  • what the fuck is wrong with TM please...... don´t turn another good thing into bad

  • HAHA People are scared of TM? How about Republicans? Bananas? Stars?

  • @2Halifaxion2

Clowns? I'm afriad of bowling balls. LOL.

  • The most dangerous cult at the moment is the cult of ignorance . Tm movement wierd ? maybe . Sitting down and allowing your mind to slow down and unstress for 20mins .twice a day . woooo . Dangerous side effects are , things like listening to bob marley without weed . YOUVE BEEN WARNED . .

    .

  • TM is not a scam. It is a very powerful meditation technique. Now the organization itself is whacky, though!

  • how is it a scam? I think he makes good points...maybe not my cup of tea personally, but getting people worldwide to mediate on life and the universe instead of blowing each other up is surely a more worthwhile cause than just organizing a protest that does not really achieve anything

  • I love how classy he is when the kid's question was obviously very snarky.

I don't think I've ever seen this man upset on camera.

  • @DrAnonymousable i did. its amazing!! i laughed so hard, especially since i know some of those people, and how the scenes were totally taken out of context. seriously, that director is fucking awesome! xD

  • Color me less than shocked that intolerant, judgmental, shallow thinking would walk hand in hand with not understanding David Lynch's body of work.

  • Your video is Defamatory. Fallacious. Ignorant. Hate-inciting. &, now: flagged. I hereby encourage others to do the same.

  • good director, crazy cult.

  • @londonafter "normal meditation for rich weirdos" I'd love it if they'd adopt that as their official slogan.

  • GET FUCKED IAM DOING TM BITCH!!!

  • @umayavan LoL

  • @umayavan You sound very enlightened!

  • aha. so after 23 years of being "deeply involved" u still decide that the most scientifically proven meditation technique is bullshit, that it "brainwashes" people. it cant be a cult because it is taught in problematic schools and prisons all over the world, simply to help them get back on their feet and move on with life, and they dont need to have anything to do with the tm teachers after that. also, maharishi is dead. shows how much research u have done.

  • @ilovepotatoes012018 "The most scientifically proven meditation technique" ? There is NO scientific consensus ...NOTHING HAS BEEN PROVEN!

A court case in the US, in 1977, held that the TM program was religious in nature and thus couldn't be taught in US public schools. Tm has since "mainstreamed"like the extreme religious creationists and found a backdoor into the school system!

Some former members of the tm cult have posted documents on wikileaks...go check it out!

  • @fugazi233 haha 1977? welcome to the 21st century dickhead!

  • @ilovepotatoes012018 says the cult member!

  • @TiggerPoohism yeah, a 15 year old cult member, sure

  • Comment removed

  • @fugazi233 look into a fellow called Thomas Campbell. he is one of the hundreds of scientists who have proved it. check out the 'my big toe' trilogy. it is a compilation of over 30 years of research into this meditation

  • Take it from a long-time TM practitioner and former insider who was deeply involved in this movement from 1979-1993: IT'S NOTHING BUT A MONEY-DRIVEN CULT AND THE MAHARISHI IS A COMPLETE CHARLATAN. I spent thousands on techniques and concoctions and all the other "snake oil" and over-priced, worthless crap the TM movement said would get me enlightened. BS - nothing but an elaborate hoax to steal your money. I now have CFS and fIbromyalgia for all my trouble - STAY CLEAR OF TM!! VERY DANGEROUS!!

  • ok im 15 and i started watching one of his movies but i didnt like it. i know this sounds crazy but i actually meditate, and it actually works. like really well. its not like u go into some hypnotic state and shit like like that. it just calms u down and takes away the pressure.

  • @ilovepotatoes012018 Dickhead? Come on......u must do better than that ! Hit us with some hard "facts" ...ohhhh right there are none! Kid with comments like that its clear that tm is working very well for you!

  • If TM really is the panacea that its followers claim then surely making it free would be the biggest gift its followers could give to the world.

The sales pitch is a huge contradiction. What they seem to be saying is "yes, can have enlightenment but it's going to cost." No wonder people are cynical.

There are things in the world that cause a lot more harm than TM but if you want to relax you're probably better spending the $2,500 on a relaxing holiday.

  • All about making money. What a shame.

  • My peace message - Stand up and Forgive – Past is Past, Now is the past, but what we do next is the future. (Please watch Utube video) Dove with a broken wing - David Lynch Jnr, and if you think this can help? Please share our message :)

  • Here's the TM technique for free from a qualified 30 year ex TM instructor. Everything you need is in here. This document is worth.... priceless. That's why I'm putting this up. It isn't worth the BS numbers they made up, it's above material and monetary gain. It's consciousness. You can do the same thing as meditation by deep trance work in hypnosis etc. There are thousands of ways to do it. Arriving there is the goal, not the means by which you get there. minet(DOT)org/Documents/TM-FAQ

  • love his movies, but this is bullshit....

  • Everything I've read about TM makes it seem shady and/or completely inconsistent. Some teachers teaching different things and giving out incorrect mantras or random mantras. However, it apparently does work for some people so it isn't a 'scam' per se, but slightly cultish. Some people, such as Lynch who swear by it, don't appear to be as happy and content as they claim as other commenters here have pointed out. I know for a fact meditation does work, just not that it needs to be TM.

  • @retread01 maybe u read about other types of meditation. this is the only one that has been scientifically proved.. and believe me, its so not a cult. i do tm and im just ur average teenager

  • @ilovepotatoes012018 You have been brainwashed. The so-called "scientific research" the TM people tout to scam the public is not generally accepted by the scientific community because it is biased and of poor methodological quality.

Real, unbiased research DOES support freely available "true meditation" practices like Insight meditation, loving kindness meditation and mindfulness meditation.

Yes, TM is a cult. I know. I was deeply involved for 23 years. Watch "David Wants To Fly".

  • You have to learn to separate the artist and the man. Probably all great artist had their (great) flaws. If I will pay money to see his movie, that doesn't mean I will support TM like he does, nor that I'll like the same food, or vote for the same party like him. That goes for all artists and entertainers. I thought that was obvious. For some people it obviously isn't...

  • @dragmio

Extremely well said. Over the centuries there have been countless gifted and great artists who haven't necessarily been paragons of virture. None of us are perfect. No one can be expected to share all the values of the artists whose work they enjoy. MANY thanks for your thoughtful & insightful comment! CHEERS! :-)

  • @morehate4uall Fees have been reduced & David is helping support people learning who couldn't afford it. Compared to medication and medical costs the cost of TM is pennies and it barely covers teaching expenses + it includes free life long follow up. Have you ever been sick or been to the hospital where they'll charge over $100 for ONE aspirin? David actually knows what he's talking about. To learn & practice TM correctly you need to have a trained certified teacher, plain and simple.

  • I'm actually a Lynch fan, but TOTALLY agree that this meditation thing is voodoo bullshit. Meditation takes care of ADD and depression? So if someone just meditated, he wouldn't of committed suicide? That's just ridiculous and incredibly irresponsible. If you've seen Lynch One, Lynch yells and cusses at people on the set of Inland Empire. Yea, it REALLY gets rid of anger.

  • @squidpotion You took the words right out of my mouth

  • @squidpotion TM has been proven to help reduce depression & anxiety up to 60%. It can reduce the need for medication & help improve life, but TM doesn't say stop taking your prescribed medication or stop working with your doctor to treat these things. How is that irresponsible? Anger lifts & dissolves more quickly w/ TM, doesn't mean you don't ever get angry, sad or depressed. Emotions r part of the human experience & have a purpose & can help get things done but they don't linger.

  • @squidpotion What's the better option; Pharmaceutical meds or meditation. Now THINK about that question and consider the options, their effects and side-effects. Pharma meds don't have such a good looking track record as far as I'm concerned. It's like playing russian roullette with your brain, body and mind. But, apparently, many people like to eat those SSRIs and amphetamine derivatives. I've not taken any prescribed meds except when I was much younger.
