  • Should be PolyNoob.

  • @UltraSoftwareReviews I kind of like the sound of that to be honest and it's fitting. It's fitting because these are not advanced techniques by any means...they are grassroots, barebone basics. This is the stuff that most of us professional artists don't even think about.

  • @PolyNurb I see, I did actually mean ''Noob'' like idiot, but yeah i agree nice.

  • Does this come with some basic models that you can work on?

  • @WorldGenoside Yes, when you open up the program it has some base meshes that it will import for you to play around with.

  • Ok how to fuck do you move , i know its pretty basic but thats why i watch this tut

  • @pietzeekoe - I can hook that up for you. I try to keep these basic as possible, but I didn't consider the aspect of camera and model control.

  • So Mudbox is primiarily a texturing program? You would have to build the model first in another program then export it to Mudbox? Why can't you just do it all in one program?

  • you can, but not this detailed

  • @guthriegrey It's a program that has a LOT of customizable tools/brushes, etc for painting directly onto a 3D model. Not only that, but you can work in layers just like you would in Photoshop. Mudbox cannot create proper UVs for you, so you build the model in a 3D app and UV it there, preparing it for Mudbox. Some folks just sculpt digital clay in Mudbox and never worry about UVs..but I use it to make normal maps for games so that's important to me.

  • Thanks that was helpful. Have you used 3dsmax and if so how simuler are they?

  • Actually, 3dsmax is extremely similar. I have both Maya and 3dsmax - they are both owned by Autodesk. Mudbox is closely related to maya. You can import or export files from both programs into or out of Mud. All that is needed is to save the objects from maya or 3dsmax (or vice versa) as an [,obj] and it can read it.

Studica - just google it - sells the 6 cd package for less than $400. I would recremend it to any upandcoming animator. (I don't work for them - I just bought the cds from them)

  • Is it possible to open 3Dsmax project in MUDBOX??

  • @roraito008 Export your model out of 3DS max as an .obj file and import that .obj file into Mudbox and you're good to go. I do not believe Mudbox supports import of native 3DS Max files.

  • ty very much 4 the upload!helps alot:)
