  • I carry a pocket knife on me almost always. I think of it as a tool and not as a weapon. However since i am trained in using a knife as a weapon i would not hesitate if there was not other option. Most of the time there is other options than trying to use lethal force. I recomend using the three steps of engagement in any situation. Also just because you have a knife do not expect it to get you out of a situation without having prior knowledge of fighting in general.

  • I ALWAYS carry a knife (cheap 3.25" folder). However, I do so mainly for mundane tasks like cutting string, picking out splinters, trimming hangnails, etc.. Really, the only times I'd actually consider using a knife as a weapon is when I don't have access to a firearm or pepper spray and escape is simply not an option. But be aware, simply handing over your wallet isn't always a free ticket to safety - sometimes they'll shoot or stab you anyways. Criminals suck like that. ALWAYS be prepared.

  • In prison we used to say "I'd rather get cought with a shank than without one"

  • I for one will not just bow down, comply and hand over my wallet to a thief.

  • I am not handing my wallet over to nobody. I refuse to bow down and comply with someone who is breaking the law by attempting to rob me.

  • I agree. If you are in a situation when u are stopped by three people, you need it for self defensive. But if you are muging or using it for none life saving resons, thats what I considor wrong. And just becuase you use it for self defense, does not mean you carry it 24/7.

  • @RUSTYgarbageCAN2 Hope you liked the video, thanks for the comment

  • i carry a kinfe with a 3.5 inch blade ( my kershaw storm 2) and sometimes i carry my knife with a 4 inch blade ( my cold steel large voyager)... i dont carry them for self defense but if others or my life are in inamit danger i wouldnt reggret having it on me,... i am aware of the knife laws and all mine are legal

  • @shadowstormreviews Sounds good to me.

  • Bro if they have a gun in ther pocket cos ther collecting wallets, u can whip out that knife and shank em before they even know what hit them. Even if they have a gun out ther not gonna expect you to come and own them, most criminals are pussys too. What I'm trying to say is if you get within 10ft of the criminal, even if he has a gun, 10ft closes pretty fast so he won't have a chance to even react. I am open to criticism.

  • @xxinsufficiency Sure, you could try to knife someone before they rob you, but why bother if you can just run away?

If their goal is to steal wallets, they're not gonna shoot someone who runs. That's just asking for trouble.

  • @deathsweat I'm going to have to disagree with you there. While I agree that a knife might serve as exclusively a tool, some knives are designed for the purpose of killing. In the eyes of the law, it is likely that these knives will be considered weapons, whether they were used that way or not.

A gun is, in my opinion, always a weapon.

I also don't agree entirely with the right to bear arms.

    Thanks for the comment though!

  • well im 12 and i found nothing "anti knife about this video"

i carry a 6 inch bladed knife because its LEGAL in my area and there are a lot of wierd people around my area and there are atleast 5 murders per month!!!! i dont plan on killing anyone unless (even if they are assaulting me or someone around me) but rather disabling them with a small stab to the leg

i however carry a smaller knife for utility that i use EVERYDAY

  • @Chickenman9922 I'm glad you got the message I was trying to convey

Hopefully none of us will ever be forced to use our knives defensively

  • What a refreshing video. I find the modern trend towards "tactical" knives a little disheartening. To me, a knife should be a tool. I only believe in using a knife as an absolute last resort in self defense. Tactical knives disgust me, a person carrying one appears to look forward to a knife fight.

I have a friend who was mugged, then beaten, he was being cooperative, but he had bad luck. He received brain damage for his cooperation. Would I have used a knife in this situation? Yes.

  • respect the universal right to not try to take my posesions.

  • There are restrictions in Canada against switchblades, gravity knives, flick knives and butterfly knives. They are prohibited weapons under the Criminal Code.

    Otherwise, thoughtful video.

  • This is an unusual video to find on YouTube, and I am certainly glad to see it.

I don't think it is "anti-knife" at all. And I hope that we are all 'anti-stabbing people' to begin with.

That said: I carry a knife everyday, I have for years. I would scarcely like to cut or stab another person much more than I would like to have the same done to myself. But I am no pacifist, and I would not carry something that can be used as a weapon without being (somewhat) prepared to apply it if necessary.

  • What a refreshing comment. It seems most misinterpreted the video.

I thought my other videos made it obvious that I'm not opposed to carrying a knife, even if it is for self defense. I guess not.

It seems we have similar views on self defense.

And also, it sounds as if you are a pacificist, rather than a pacifist. I am the same.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • I wasn't aware Family Guy had made the same pun

I'm sure that joke has been around as long as the Constitution has

  • We can go round and round all day on this--- In Canada you have no need to steal to feed your family----- Welfare takes care of that argument .The government steal legally from me every week.Let's leave the third world out of this equation --- most scumbags steal for drug money others because their just lazy and work is a swear-word for them .The moral issue of feeding your family is just a red herring always used by the liberal lefties to excuse everything .Maybe the US is different .

  • Well morals are a discussion what is right and wrong, but there's no point in arguing that.

Another question is whether you view drug use as a crime or not?

Feel free to pass on answering it, I'm not trying to be confrontational.

  • @ATCKDFND As far as I'm concerned you can take every drug the world has to offer -- as long as it only effects you and you dont ask me to subsidize your habits .I hope you know all that implies .

If drugs or alcohol keep you from earning a living then screw you -- I should not be asked to feed you .or if you cant afford drugs you had better not steal my wallet .

Other tan that kill yourself all you want --- I don't really give a fuck.

    to be blunt.

    See there's the dilemma .

  • I don't use drugs - anymore.

I only asked out of curiosity

  • Keep in mind ---you have a brain in your head for a reason.Giving your wallet is no problem --- if your in a crappy area your wallet should be almost empty.Plus you could give it up then come back later and get it back with help from an Oak tree .or the cops -- if you can drag them out of the donut shop Knives should be used to cut apples and open blister packs.

Criminals should be dropped into lava pits ---- or at least very hot water ----- hard to find lave in the city .

  • Again, though I respect your opinion, I'm going to have to disagree with you on some points.

You're right that your wallet should be nearly empty, but I don't think it's advisable to attempt to take it back by force.

Nor do I think that criminals should be dropped into lava pits. Many are victims in their own right.

  • @ATCKDFND ---- Ok so maybe the Lava pit is a bit harsh---unles its a gang raping your little sister.I don't believe in the Liberal crap of excusing crime because the poor bastard is a victim of society .Waiting for a cop to come and help is futile ubless your going just a little over the speed limit -----then they materialize out of thin air.But everyone is master of their own demise ----I onky carry a small knife with a 3 inch blade ----but I can still cut your eye ball out if need be .

  • Fair enough, but what constitutes crime in your opinion? Does stealing to feed your family?

I'm not trying to play the devil's advocate, it's just that this is such a morally difficult thing to wrap your head around.

  • Of course bears should be allowed to have arms

  • Of course you should defend yourself or others in a life or death situation.

That being said, I think the majority of such confrontations are finacially motivated, and non-life threatening.

  • @ATCKDFND

Better safe than sorry. I'd rather kill a mugger who had no intention of killing me than wait and find out to see what his intentions were.

  • In that case I hope no one tries to mug you!

Again, this advice is my opinion, and if you have a different way of doing things, I'm not going to argue.

Good luck to you and stay safe!

  • Well, I wouldn't carry a knife. .357 magnum or .45ACP is much better than a knife.

But anyway, in some states, such as Florida or Texas, killing a mugger is legal.

  • I didn't know that, I wonder if it happens often?

  • I do not have any statistics on it, but I doubt it happens often. Think about it. If you're in Texas or Florida, especially Texas, you're going to wonder if the people around you have a gun. If you're a mugger, you won't be thinking any differently. So muggers are going to think twice about attacking somebody. Where in New York, it's pretty much run up to someone, pull out a gun and that's it.

  • Actually, a man named Joe Horn shot two burgalars that had just robbed his neighbor's home while they were running away. He got away with it.

  • Interesting.

Doesn't really seem like the punishment fits the crime, but I guess that's the risk you take if you mug somebody

  • lol, I carry all my knive's for self defence, and to be honest if someone asks for your wallet, and has you at gun point or a knife at you, more than likely there going to shoot/stab you anyway, and this sound's anti-knife to me, and I would like a person who carrie's knive's for self defence edc to make a video without this little feeling of anti-knife propaganda. but still nice video for telling people to research the laws for there area's.

  • A valid argument. Remember, however, that the general public does not look kindly on knives. And I don't believe law enforcement do (at least where I live) either. I do not personally consider being charged with possession of a weapon or assault with a weapon an option. The obvious exception is in a life or death scenario.

  • actually that belief (although common) is false. most of the time the person robbing you wont kill you after you give him your money. all that would do is give him a massive prison sentence if he does end up getting caught, and leave alot of evidence of what happend.

and most muggers dont end up getting caught when they let the victim live, even if they do go to the police and do a composite sketch.

  • I agree with you, as there is a difference between hostile feelings and hostile intentions.

Though a mugger has hostile intentions, he often doesn't have hostile feelings.

If you're being robbed, it's probably because someone wants money, not to kill a stranger.

  • i carry i knike everyday to work, i work in the southside of chicago everyday, im kinda young so im looked at as vauleranable, i keep my knife on my ankle in visible sight, i never intend to use it or even consider it when people do mess with me, but people tend to leave me alone more with it there, i dont like having it but it keeps ppl from hassling me for the most part.

  • I always carry a knife. It is a tool used for cutting open boxes, peeling fruit, etc. It is not a weapon( I guess it could be) I don't plan or want to gett into a knife fight or go to prison.

  • always carry a knife. always keep the law in mind. And always protect the sanctity of life and peoples right to life

  • The very message I tried to convey. Hope you enjoyed the video.

  • What was your reason for making this video?

  • I hoped to prompt some contemplation concerning the carry of knives, for whatever purpose.

Hopefully it will reaffirm some of the considerations one should make before carrying a knife. Remember, civilians generally views knives as weapons of bad people.

I have other videos showing how to conceal/carry knives, but out of context this may seem as if I'm advocating their use as a weapon.

The last thing knife users need is some idiot to worsen public perception of those who carry knives.

  • After watching the video, I sensed a taste of anti-knife propaganda. After reading your comment I don't believe that to be the case.

  • Haha, glad I could clear it up, hope you enjoyed the video
