some canadian said it was a shame to see an Avro Arrow in US colors ... which I think it ironic because almost all of Canada's air force fleet is US aircraft because they can't build much except some mediocre passenger jets and maybe a trainer. Irony.
Canada can build whatever it takes to meet our demands for an air force. ONE of the main reasons why we always shop sout of the border is because the Americans had developed it first, tested it, and had already put it into production. Another reason has to do with trade agreements between the 2 countries. But as for your theory on Canada only building some mediocre passenger jets......I wouldn't call the AvroCAR and V-22 Osprey a luxury liner. a little more research, perhaps?
Haha, right. So your answer is OH CANADA CAN DO EEEEEEEEVERYTHING THE USA CAN ... we just chose not to. Ok, sure. The V-22 is an iffy piece of shit. So what? Does that invalidate all other aircraft? I'm not sure where you are going with that. The fact is that the USA is the biggest innovator in this area, and canada has done virtually nothing. Period.
I don't know why I get caught up in these useless arguements with 2 yr old Americans on the net. maybe cuz their lack of intelligence intrigues me, or just because I am bored out of my mind. Go ahead....reply to this, but I won't view it,cuz I will have found more intelligent conversations with other people on here, by the time you learn how to pronouce the first word in this message.....
oh, right, sorry. it had a huge problem with development. forgot. took how many years to perfect? and stil has glitches. MUST BE American. Canadair made the CL-84 Dynavert. Much more successful, than the V-22, just lack of sales cuz the Americans refused to buy a Canadian product. I guess they would like to earn their own, and they did......
You know JFD, you are in such a position to have your ass pulled up over your head that I think I will take a moment out of my very busy day and try to explain to you the difference between a CL-84 and an Osprey. Several companies developed tilt wing design in the 50's and 60's, non successful due to obvious technical problems. Dornier of germany experimented with both tilt wing AND tilt rotor, big difference. Again, the technology gap thwarted their efforts, structural issues.
We stupid Amricans had several parallel programs running concurrently, all of them proving to be very unproductive and expensive. When Bell came up with modularizing the engine pod and rotor system, things began to take shape. Remember the big limiting factor of ALL aircraft will always be their weight. Look at the Lockheed air craft that was basically a C-130 with a tilt wing, actually made it to carrier trials but was rebuked by the Navy. Sorry, can't remember the model designator.
Although the Osprey has had its share of fatal and expensive teething problems, the fact of the matter remains that we are the ones to make the technology work, finally! And there is still a long way to go before this platform is something that becomes routine in aviation. Working in the aviation field for the last 25 years, I think it is a safe bet that the V-22 and all of the follow on derivatives, will go on to be an aircraft of historical mention. Remember, this system is in its infancy.
Look at all aircraft flown and flying, every single one of them has a smoking crater associated with its name. Systems as complex as these take many years to mature and unfortunately for the V-22, it is also the victim of governmental tampering. Larger and smaller versions are being designed and will in a way, spell the end for helicopters of the same weight and size and lift capacity. On a side note, one of the reasons that Canada's aviation industry was thwarted was because of the US.
I had the XB-70 for FS2004, cool addon. Loved the sound from outside! Good handling but if you got funny with the rudders it yawed out of control. They say the real thing would get REAL nasty if you weren't real careful with the ailerons. Apparrantly at mach 3 a few degrees meant thousands of feet like THAT.
How does the crew enter the cockpit of the XB-70, it must be 20' up at least? I've never seen this done on any video footage. Also where does the payload go, central fusilage is taken up with engines, on external pylons?
Hi i've seen this type of cockpit system before, but on a Q&A section i brought up the question "what if there is a cockpit fire, you eject with the fire?". I didn't get a reply, presumably there isn't one or it hadn't been envisaged.
ORDERS. Suspected major Soviet land and air incursion into NORDKAPP area. Russian fleet has sailed from Murmansk. Bad weather has disrupted all communication with Norway. Mission, refuel at 40000' then proceed at 200' at max velocity 1.2mach and photograph sea and airport activity in Narvik area. NO friendly aircraft in area, assume all aircraft are hostile. US 1st fleet in Greenland area. UK fleet has sailed with marine reinforcements and is currently in the Firth of Forth area. END.

Hi Cav, There you are
The crew climbed a ladder thru the belly hatch sounds a bit scary then they sat in an encapsulated cockpit with seats in tandem.
The cockpit capsule could eject if needed I think it was done on The XB that failed but the pilot was severely injured none the less.
