  • These are very truthful words, I have to admit.

  • On the money.

  • Erich Fromm is new to me , now I'm hooked!

  • Is the interviewer W.F. Buckley? Sounds a lot like him.

    Great vid btw.

  • sounds as he is a smart man a man who works whit his hands and a man that works whit his mind are diferant

  • Anyone want an explanation for the riots in the U.K? This is it baby: twittering idiots mesmerized by all the shit their social "betters" consume like pigs, and elbowing their way to the trough....

  • That was the problem with all those wise jewish intellectuals out of the Frankfurt Institut for Social Research, they never saw a steel mill from the inside, never touched a saw, hammer or srewdriver in their whole lifetime.

  • haha exactly!!!!!!!!!!!! we need someone who is truly concerned...... i have freakin lost sleep over the thought of what will happen to our society we need someone like this we need to all be concerned that our system is terribly flawed.. and we need real change :(

  • all free market lovers should answer this question:

say Jon loves Stacy. Should Stacy pay Jon for the love he's giving her?

  • This man has covered but "ONE" very important factor of human lives.....

    amazing words

  • Everybody needs to read this man.

  • Just great thanks for shere this video.

  • Fromm nailed it. As usual.

  • erich fromm!

  • Hi mr1001nights

I have just been watching your video and I must admit it really is very good.

    I really enjoyed watching it.

Already looking forward to more of the same in the future.

    Cheers to your success.

  • Profound words at the end there.

  • he is right, I used to work in retail and that's exactly how I felt, I hated trying to sell things to people that they really didn't need and the pressure that if I didn't convince enough people to buy I could lose my job, fortunately I decided to let the job go I work at home now and I love it. I think everyone should give the finger to big corps and work for themselves, we can provide the same services without them and be much happier doing for ourselves and others.

  • As he says in his books, happiness should be an experience that has changed you after it has occured rather then a single fleeting sensual experience.

  • this man worked it all out 50 years ago genuis

  • beacuse this isnt against work but against working only for money we should be able to be happy and earn a living not just make money otherwise i would rather not work at all until i find an activity which is meaningfull and gratifying to me

  • not all work has meaning or interest. janitors are necessary but the work isn't very fullfilling. work is work. the goal should be to improve conditions for working people so they can have some recreation time.

  • you're wrong. Even a janitors work can be fullfilling. It depends on the person of course, but some of us find great pleasure in fixing things in taking care of things. And even if you work in a factory like a machine, putting pieces together, it can be fullfilling. As long as you know there isn't something else that you would be better at and would make you happier, I think any work can be fullfilling...

  • @runi8 yes i'm sure some people aspire to be janitors.

  • he said what i have always felt

  • work has no meaning if it isnt fullfilling otherwise we are just ants working pointlessly and breeding more ants to keep working without any meaning except producing and consuming and breeding more unhappy working meaningless human beings, work and activity are not the same we humans should take satisfaction in the work we choose

  • yessss more fromm

  • I remember reading one of his books, To Have or To Be, when I was in 8th grade.. ha

It was one of the first politically inspirational books I read, for it implemented an almost spiritual side of socialist/anarchist anarchist philosophies.

  • ooo I spy ken

  • I remember seeing people carrying his books around in the late 60's.

  • Who is the guy? Can u post some info in the video description?

  • It's Erich Fromm. He was part of the Frankfurt School of neo-Marxism. I'm reading one books now; he's great. :)

  • The book you are reading, is it the nature of man?

  • It's "Beyond the Chains of Illusion". It's the first book of his I've read.

  • I just found "the Nature of Man" at a flea market sale, for 2.00$

People are insane, you know that?

2.00$! I will start it as soon as I finish my new Che book.

They never mention people like Fromm or Hegelor Marx in school here, that's for sure.

(I'm not in school now, I mean you know, growing up in a Catholic school)

    Hope you enjoy it!

  • Nice to see other people reading this lucid mind. I recommend reading "to have or to be" or "the escape from freedom". These books are stunning and his "main-work". He is a freudomarxist but left the Frankfurt school after struggle with the elitist Adorno and his crownies. Greetings :)
