  • Forgot to screw down the magazine cap and missed his turkey..... now don't that suck. But it's an honest mistake that happens often. The 870 is still probably the best pump around. I bet that mishap didn't damage that gun one bit. It's built like a tank. It's hard to fuck up a solid block of chrome moly steel.

  • Great video.

  • aww that sucks ass, hope he was able to put a new barrel on it.

  • So does the 870 need a thread extender is that what the problem was and where can I get both of em if so. Thanks

  • Yes it needs a thread extender. I believe there is contact and/or product information with the camera mount. I'm actualy not using it anymore myself.....it jumps too much when the shot is taken. I may stick it on my bow from time to time though until I get a better camera arm.

  • Too bad they got away...but glad he was okay...that is "crazy man".

Nice redemption in the end though and cool to have the family involved.

    5*

  • holy cow he's lucky to be alive! and acting so dang calm after it happened like it was no big deal wow!

  • Hes a lucky guy. I think he was just disappointed he didn't get the bird at the moment LOL.

  • I would think the recoil wouldn't be great for your camera. Have you had any problems? Is there some sort of shock suppression between the gun and camera?

  • I just realized I never answered you question here....sorry about that. The platform that mounts to the camera is spring mounted and semi free floating. My experience with it so far is there is still quite a bit of movement even from my mathews or from a lightly loaded 12 guage.

  • LOL bad luck dude.

  • Great music too!

  • LOL

  • ahahahaha, Good thing he's not hurt or I wouldnt be having this laugh. Blew the barrel off? I've seen some strange stuff but have never seen a barrel fly like that. Probably not enough thread left from the thickness of the camera mount, I wonder if he kept the mount after that...

  • Yes but if he puts it on that shotgun again he will follow manufactures recommendations haha. I have to be careful around Rick, hes accident prone. I pulled him out of the water after he fell through thin ice a few months ago. That would have made quite a video haha.

  • I'm a firm believer that accident prone folks were put here for our entertainment. You just have to be a lot more careful around them, when huntin. lol

  • It appears from the opening description of the mount, that his gun needed the thread extension. There was not much threading available once he reinstalled the cap. I wouldn't expect there to be any real damage to the barrel since it traveled out with the shot. However, I'm sure he checked it out for damage to the breach/chambered end of the barrel, barrel bulges, and obstructions due to a stuck wad or mud.

    Glad he got his gobbler.

  • After returning home, inspecting it and giving it a good cleaning....maybe a change of shorts, haha he was back in the field.

  • Good stuff... Glad he got redemption.. lol..

  • Wow man that was some dangerous stuff did you figure out how you blew your muzzle off?

  • I don't get it. How did the camera cause a barrel failure. Plug barrel I can see but this looks more then just a camera mount.

    Thanks for sharing

  • One way to mount the camera mount on a shotgun is to unscrew the cap exposing the threaded part where the barrel goes and put the mount over it and rescrew the cap back on securing the camera mount like in the beginning of the vid. Thing is the Rem870 doesn't have enough thread beacause of the thickness of the mount. It's me and my shotgun in the beginning so mine is fine but apparently he should'nt have used the 870 because there isnt enough thread and didnt hold on when he pulled the trigger.

  • So basically the barrel didnt fail, it just wasnt secured to the rest of the shotgun. In fact he put the barrel back on properly and used it to shoot a tom a couple hours later.

  • Oh Ok I see the barrel came off the gun it was hard to see I thought the barrel spilt open. Now it make sense talk about surprise wow great video thanks for sharing.

  • Cool video! I've never experienced that malfunction.

Thank you for sharing your passion for the outdoors, with the youngsters!

  • Hes a lucky boy, coulda been much worse. His 4 kids and my soon to be 3 are close in age. Thats going to be a lot of backstraps and turkey dinners in a few years haha.

  • Holy shit...was that a Mossberg? LOL. That sucks...never happened to me yet, atleast ya he got a turkey. My question is...when is Cory gonna smoke one? My buddy and I are going varmint killin tomorrow, be watchin for the vid.

  • Mossberg....cough....crap.....No that was his Rem870. I had a Mossberg 835 for a few years but didn't care for it. Just never felt right and was pretty sloppy. Sold it and got a Browning Silver 3 1/2" Auto with the 28" barrel. Good all around shotgun. I haven't been out in a couple days but I got my eye on some birds...hopefully I don't blow it haha. Kill them critters! I wanna see some good vid.

  • Rick, that's so nice of you introducing your kids to the outdoors. Good stuff pal!

    Nice bird too!

  • I'll pass the messages along to Rick. His kids and mine are close in age.....we wont have any trouble keeping the family freezers full for sure. Future hunters I hope.

  • Wow!!

    What a great vid!!

I have thought about getting one those...I had better triple check everything before I hit the woods or the range!!!

  • Hey thanks man. Don't let this deter you. Just don't use it the way he did with an 870 haha , theres not enough thread. Works great with a bow, rifle and most shotguns.

  • Cool video, nice family!

  • Thanks Jim, I'm catching up to him. Number threes coming in a couple of weeks. That'll be three boys. Yikes!

  • Never saw anything like this before. A long time back, the "damascus" barrels were known to come apart. Hope I spelt that right. That was probably a very dangerous thing. Glad Rick was not hurt, and able to continue spending time with his family.

  • Wow I bet those were pulled in a hurry. I'd never seen anything like it and was surprised by the rusults of just not having the cap screwed on properly.

  • was that at the amish farm near stanwood?

  • This is my buddys 50 acres in Morley at the end of 3 mile rd East. I've been chasing the birds around there for the last couple of mornings but can't get close. They're educated haha. I got some birds spotted a couple miles from there though at another Amish farm I can hunt.....maybe Saturday.

  • holy shit, and i was thinking of getting this for my 30-06, its bad enough for a shotgun, now think of an 06 round going over twice that, I think I'll not try that

  • Rifles are different. Theres a strap that goes around your rifle stock....it's really simple and works well. I have an 06 too....it'll work fine. Cheap way to film your own hunt if you have the cam. He just didn't follow the recommendations for his 870 and almost payed with his life thats all haha.

  • Heck yeah thanks. Expect a lot of Tool because everything else I do seems to violate copyright. He requested I use Filter, Hey Man Nice Shot haha but it was taken down right away.

  • THIS IS AWESOME

  • Thanks buddy. Glad you enjoyed, you've got some great videos. I gotta do an intro like yours haha I like it.

  • awesome video...glad to see he got his revenge on those birds...so did that blow just b/c he didn't purchase the thread extension, or did he get it and just not have it screwed tight?

  • I think there just wasn't enough thread because if it were loose his camera and mount would have been flopping around. Now I'm afraid to use mine that way. There is a strap that tightens around your gun for automatics like mine or rifles. I was surprised the shot doesnt just pass through the barrel. It blew his barrel like 10 feet. Thats a lot of force. Yikes, at least he didn't blow his face off.

  • yea it could have been worse, I'm guessing nobody else was in the blind with him?

  • No just him. Accidents always seem to find him.

  • Whow, probably should get that thread extention. Good bird though. How's the shroom'n going ?

  • Yeah, I doubt he'll be doing that again. I got some video finding my first bunch of morels but havn't put anything together yet. I hope to be able to make it out again soon. I have to ask around and figure out where the hot spots are. It was great finding them though. I got mushroom fever!
