  • It's like Shifty Powers said. " Under different circumstances, we might have been the best of friends." War sucks!

  • @BenAliGtor a Żydów i nas Słowian uważali za podludzi i zagazowywali w obozach koncentracyjnych.

  • In that generals eyes we are all humans no one is more powerful than another

  • I don't understand why people have so much hate towards others from other countries. We all originate from the same place, we used to all be a collective group back when humanity started. Why can't we just all get along....

  • just out of curiosity, what happened to those german soldiers after the war? were they imprisoned or set free?

  • @Koladikal I think some were shot, some imprisoned, some set free. Some of them had to work in other countries. For eg, a person I knew had to work for 15 years in france in agriculture. But, I think most were set free.

  • @ramrokta I read also that a lot died in POW camp.

  • @Koladikal POWs under Patton were released. POWs under Eisenhower were kept in a massive camp surrounded by armed soldiers. They were given no food or water, so they died quickly. That's the REAL holocaust of WWII.

  • @BRONCOWEN

    trol much?

  • @BRONCOWEN. POW's of all nationalities were mistreated -- I'd hardly call that a "holocaust"... I can think of many other WW2 events with far greater casualties... the siege of leningrad, stalingrad, the fire bombings of dresden and tokyo, the atomic bombings over japan, and so on.

  • @Koladikal they ran away to argentina and chile!

  • @Koladikal most were set free, many of the generals and other officers returned to service in the newly reformed German Army that was allied to NATO the Bundeswehr

  • @Koladikal

Many were left in the USSR still as prisoners even after the War. The Communist were ruthless basterds. Hitler knew this thus is why he tried to eliminate them.

But many Germans still worked as prisoners until the Berlin Wall fell down.......what were left of the prisoners...the Communist didn't give a damn,

  • @Koladikal most were set free after a short time some served in the french foreign legion some in the new germn army but most returned to their families my grand father was a war prisoner in the USA he said that they treated him very well and he had high respect for the US. Only war criminals were later executed mainly by hanging them

  • That bloke is a professional Nazi. He played one in Raiders of the lost Ark too.

  • @quackhandles he plays a german general not a nazi in band of brothers

  • He saved alot of lives and he was catholic. He had many friends in the army and he spoke fluent german with 100% polish. He done so many things that a lot of people cant do and i am very proud of him. He was mostly working on the human stomach, heart and lungs. He was then captured by the British (im scottish) and was later used to work up north of scotland which i belive in inverness. He usually didnt speak about the war but he was open minded to things that was not disturbing. Im proud of him.

  • My grandfather was polish and he was thrown into a concentration camp. He was very lucky that a german officer picked him otherwise i would never be here. He was picked because he was a strong noble man. But he died on the 13th of January 2011. He served as a medic and he was given this book and he drew all of the bones and things he had to work on. When i saw this i couldnt belive that his drawing skills were that great. They looked so real. He was picked to go into the german army.

  • I'm glad to live in a free Austria. I'm always on the side of America an Israel. It is a shame that in Europe there are so many people against the USA. They brought us freedom and peace and the right to speak free.

  • @TomM0880 can you tell me how the hell ISRAEL brought freedom in Austria? Just wondering....

  • @drakdaedaren

I've never written that ISRAEL brought freedom to Austria. You should learn to read.

There are allways the same stupid ignorant idiots that are against the USA AND Israel.

  • @TomM0880

Im from the U.S., and i dont like Isreal that much. And thing is, Im not a nazi or anything. I just think it was unfair what happened to palastine. (Im stopping here, because I dont want a fucking political discussion)

  • Wish my dad could have lived to see this series. He fought the Germans in North Africa, Normandy and the Bulge, and it was often a life/death struggle. But he admired their professionalism and courage, and would never allow anyone to mock the common German soldier in his presence. In fact-as fate would have it- he got to know a few former Heer soldiers after the war, and they were friends, because they shared a bond that the civilians of either country will never understand.

  • @BenAliGtor Respect for your father. Yes, we civilians will never understand the bond that exists between military personnel. It is stupid politicians that declare the war and innocent people have to lose lives. Such a sad world.

  • @BenAliGtor your dad sounds like a great man my god us europeans today are not up to what those great men on both sides suffered i feel sorry for all the soldiers dont think they wanted a united states of europe

  • @BenAliGtor

    Well said. RIP your dad.

  • @BenAliGtor Your father was a brave and noble man. He did right in not mocking other troops, German or Allied. He were smart enough too understand that the men and women he fought against didn't have much of a choice. Either the German soldiers fought, or died in concentration camp.

It's sad how many still sees the German soldiers in that time as ''the criminals''.. Still people see in black and white.

  • @BenAliGtor was he American or British By the way much respect to your farther the german soldiers were fighting for what there country just like the British and Americans were it was not the soldiers which the enemy but the German Government

  • @BenAliGtor

They were taught to be Nationalist, to take pride in their race, their culture, their people and to do be honorable and courageous no matter what. They were taught this from the day they were born until they got into the Hitler Youth until they died on the Battlefield.

  • @ComedyProcedures Indeed. Punishing countries after war definitely works and certainly doesn't breed discontentment. The Treaty of Versailles proves that. After all, that treaty didn't help precipitate a war ... did it?

  • germans rule. Remember half the soldiers agianst the yanks were youths or old men. Most professional army.

  • While some of this movie leaves a bit to be desired, this scene is one of the best. The speech the General gives to his men is truly from the heart. Listening to the words, you might only pick up a little of the true meaning of what was being said. If you are/were a soldier, you will come to understand so very much more, and appreciate that what the General said applied every bit as much to the American troops, as it did the the German troops.

  • Damn German sounds fucken awesome. Such a great history with the Holy Roman Empire and Prussia.

  • "You deserve long and happy lives in peace." Ahem.

  • this scene is probably one of the most important when regarding the war. We describe how well our soldiers bonded and fought during the war as expressed in the series, but this scene highlights that there were German soldiers doing exactly the same.

To any one that says that the Germans were evil, you're wrong. Remember - All nazi's were German, but not all Germans - were nazis.

  • @lxlCyanidelxl And there were Nazi sympathizers in many countries, including the United States, at least until the war started. But that only reinforces your point - it was the ideology that was the real enemy, not the German people.

  • @squamish4244 ah, mainly propagated by my people!

  • @lxlCyanidelxl Ironically, its illegal to be a nazi in Germany. However, its not here and there are many prominent Nazi movments in the deeper south. Funny how things change huh?

  • @lxlCyanidelxl - so few people are willing to listen to the wisdom in the last sentence; and that is such a huge shame.

  • @lxlCyanidelxl True, but all Nazis actually were not Germans. SS took volunteers from all over.

  • i like how people always say most nazi were bad to tell u the truth most of them were just regular soilders just fighting for what they thought was the best but they were brainwashed by people like hitler himmler and geobbels.

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperSonicRULAA Hey, I do not mind people not liking this video. Does not mean they are nazis. Okay?

  • Even though people characterize the German as evil nazi, and yet, they really did grow a pair and fight against the entire world. Just because Germany had the wrong leader doesn't mean it's going to diminish any single bit of German's Army's reputation and it's pride... I know i will die smiling if i was fighting in WWII. Not because of dying for the right reason, but dying with someone right next to me whom i can trust ....

  • 21,000 views and only 39 likes ?

  • whos that german general supposed to be? he reminds me of Erwin Rommel but I know he died before the war ended.

  • The german army wasn't evil. the fact is that if hitler didn't lead that army. there would be no WW2. it was because of hitler hating jews(even though he is one) and taking advantage of germany's misery. The military of germany could have lived and WW2 and the cold world era would have never even happened. The fault belongs to Hitler and the ppl who made the the treaty of versailles

  • @ramrokta yup, its complete shit how they translated this scene.

  • @thesorrow2006 intersesting...why would they do such a thing in this day and age?

  • @thesorrow2006

  • without amerika or the uk russia wass overwalked ..... and without russia amerika and the uk we all needed eachother

i know me inglish is not good but im just 15 ....

    so ernest you dum

  • Watch the documentary, "High Hitler" which shows how Hitler was quite regularly under the influence of powerful drugs, including a form of methamphetamine which his personal physician would inject him with. If the good German people could have rid themselves of that lunatic before it was too late, things would have been much different.

  • I think the idea was to show that this general was basically Dick Winters on the German side - a true hero and solider for his people. The Germans weren't all monsters, and this helps hit that point home.

  • @ComedyProcedures I wish you weren't being a doosh but hey :p

  • When u hear this u think that it wasn't the Germans who wanted the WAR Hitler did he wanted to make germany great but he raged with power that he couldn't control he lost his FUCKING MIND so when the Germans lost u can see the true side of Germany

  • @Dontmesswithme91 the war started because a bunch of old men got together around 1918/19 had the Treaty of Versailles written up and decided to take the spoil's of war. but they took to much and blamed a people. people will believe anything when they are desperate and Hitler and his men took advantage of that. thats why after WW2 nobody got a piece of italy or malta or whatever the germans and japanese didnt loose there pride. we learn.

  • for those who have surved our country thankyou.

  • Sigh the wrong side won... Heil the glorious dead.

  • @LemonDancer heil my dick faggot

  • @supdawg9999999 Sigh...

  • @LemonDancer omg...

  • @LemonDancer omg... i can't understand you

  • Very good speach. It makes the men realize, that the Germans, went throught the same exact hell that they did.

  • Very powerfull speach there, i like it

  • @ramrokta The nerds get the money man!

  • @UziDoesIt100 lol haha. yeah typo. English classes are probably the last thing i need. I completed over 2 years of college English before I graduated high school.

  • i did a parodi of this video the name of it is Cpt Spiers goes kabooom very funny ^^

  • Why did this highly decorated General had to surrender to a simple GI made Lieutenant? That HBO serie was dedicated to honor the US troops that fought there but also was endeavour to muck the german Wermacht.

  • why is max headroom speaking german?

  • very "touching" hollywood crap: a corporal upgraded to officer accepting the surrendering of an entire division in the hands of a German General. Moreover, and to make it more humiliating, a Jew translating half of the General's words, a drunk Intelligence officer, a POW s killer and, a not assumed gay Quacker Major, leading the fucking US chariot Jeep of victory...Oh yanks, stop buying bullshit from movies, Russians won WWII, not you

  • @ernestitoful I would like to see what would have happened if Japan attacked Russia instead of the United States. The Soviets would've been crushed in a two front war, they barely survived one.

  • moving speech but if thay were captured by russians they would just have been sprayed near a wall

  • @TheFNFALRules or sent to some work camp

  • ernest,

That is possibly the most stupid comment I have ever seen on YouTube.

  • he looks like me PE teacher.

  • well then i guess we shouldn't have fought then and let Europe and most of the world go to hell.

  • of course fake1009, after 1945 when you the "good guys" supposedely won the war and took credit for that, there have been 40 wars and 50 millions deads, nice intervention of US in history...nobody claimed for your help but the English to keep their colonies...

  • We were talking about WWII, not "after 1945" in this discussion... It seems that you prefer a world in which the US stayed out of the war. Like most people would agree, the world would be too terrible to even comprehend if the US never got involved.

Just curious are you from some Latin country?

  • @fake1009 I do not want too dishonour the men whom died, but the US joint very late into the war. By then, Russia had almost destroyed Berlin and much of the war had already been fought. US's involvement was not neccessary, but it did save many lives and shortened the war. We are thankful, but the US did not win the war.

  • @Hexicznova The US joined in 1941, the war started in 1939. We missed 2 years of a 6 year war. Russia didn't touch Berlin, the USAF and RAF handled that. Russians only took Berlin because the US didnt want to lose anymore lives and the Russians were willing. Plus, Britain would have been conquered if not for the US, we were supplying them since the wars start. Get your shit straight before you down a countries accomplishments. The US won the Allies WWII.

  • @Me4044 The Russians never gave a shit about their troops. Casualty practically didnt exist for them.

  • @Me4044 Correct me if i'm wrong but. Normandy D-Day plus 3 saw landing of Poles, Czechs, Belgians, French, Cannadians, US, British troops also. Australia, South Africa, New Zealand navy involved throughout. We British were proud of all the forces taking part. The war left Britain nearly bankrupt following the massive payments to the US amongst others. Thanks for being late.

  • @imogen124 No problem.

  • @imogen124 You Brits truly did "stand alone" for a long time: France had been defeated, and until the summer of 1941 the USSR had honored a non-aggression pact with Germany. And from a Yank whose father landed in Operation Torch, know that the Afrika Korps had suffered 3 major defeats from the British before US forces even landed. However: before entering officially, American aid to the Allied cause was essential to Britian's survival. Not just my opinion, but that of Churchill as well.

  • @Me4044 Ok what a bunch of you guys are saying is that "US didn't want to lose any more lives, Russians never gave a shit blah blah". And this stuff hurts man, it really hurts. My great grandfather served in the Russian army in WW2. He served with his fellow soldiers and never complained. There were hard times, poor leadership. But never, ever did they disrespect Americans nor did his command send him and others to their death. Please don't refer to "enemy at the gates". Allies won WW2, not US.

  • @Me4044 Also please note USAF did not exist in WW2. It was the United States Army Air Core. So I ask you to please not get all emotional about getting facts right. Just because someone is getting aggressive, doesn't mean you should too.

  • @blackshark1984 United States Army Air Forces, actually.

  • @zarathustra135 Same thing, actually. It is still referred as USAAC in the USAF general knowledge manual.

  • @zarathustra135 Army air corp

  • @Hexicznova you won only because germany had hitler as commander and that the allies landed in italy then normandy.....also you were helped with supplies and materials from the us lend and lease

  • The German officer here is General Theodor Tolzdorff, one of the only 27 men to win the Ritterkreuz with oakleaves, swords and diamonds.

  • Kampfer, thank you for the info regarding the German General, I ddin't know it.

  • Ok Bud!.

  • at 0:43 you can see his medal

he's got the iron cross with oak

leaves and swords!.one of the highest

    medal's you could of recieved.

  • @RoryRuFitz Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

  • @RoryRuFitz Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.

  • @RoryRuFitz actually, its the Knights Cross. Iron crosses are only worn on the breast pocket, only on the day awarded can they be worn on the neck, you are right about the oakleaves and swords, which are very high awards, when the diamonds are awarded however, thats about as high as it gets.

  • @RoryRuFitz that is actually the Knight's Cross (Ritterkreuz). the highest level of the award was with oak leaves and swords as u said, plus diamonds. only a handful of Germans received this honor.

  • No prob Bud.

  • This guy isn't a captain he's a General

Ucan tell my the collar insignia.Red

    and Gold.

  • Thanks man! I changed the info!

  • Das ist gut.

  • just good speach
