  • having real problems with the tones as i am american

  • that was absolutely amazzing thank you

  • Wow, this is really good. Thanks!

  • Why does the "chinese elephant man" keep appearing on every mandarin learning video... it´s hard to ignore

  • Is this in pinyin or cantonese, and how do you tell the difference???

  • @Valkaryie1 is mandarin, with pinyin and caracters

  • great

  • great

  • @MidoriCrayon fire is 火, huǒ :)

  • @MidoriCrayon yes. Also, 您 (Nín) also means you, but formally. If you were talking to say, a teacher, you would say 您. If you were talking to a friend, you would say 你

  • Haha, the French are a bunch of fag guo rens!

  • @vaiueo No. There are also words you can use to talk with people who are older, who you are not familiar with and so on to show respects. But believe me, those words are a lot simpler when compared with Japanese.

  • Nice presentation! It's very clear & easy to follow!

Never thought of using colors to represent the tones, though.

  • lol, try learning spanish, the verb 'to be' is a little piece of hell D:! and don't get me started with verbs conjugations D:!

  • Besides the hard alphabet they have, Chinese seems incredibly simple! o.o

  • @MapleCousins So glad you feel that way! :-)

  • This is by far the most informative lesson I have seen on the web. Showing the four tones and the marks used will make it easier to figure out how words should be spoken. Finally, showing the Chinese calligraphy associated with the English words goes a long way to learning the written language.

  • 为了开始学汉语,我相信这些视频就是一个非常好的教育方法。:o)

  • @xTenshiAi of course, there has to be similarity. however, ren in Japanese can only be either figure of speech, whereas in Chinese there are 4. And they're pronounced differently.

  • Mandarin is easy, it is just hard to pronounce

  • Chinese really isn't that difficult to learn now that I think about it there's nothing that makes it hard. It's even easier then english. There's no verb conjugations, declension of nouns, or anything that makes other languages so annoying and difficult.

  • this is the best video of chinese learning I have seen until now, the topics there are the ones that I'm learning now

    Thanks :D

  • your lessons r awsome xiexie for the nice lessons laoshi

  • woooww.. its kinda similar to japanese.

    similar kanji:

    mei - beautiful

    ren - person

  • @xTenshiAi Pahaha you silly person. Of course its similar! all languages feed off each other historically! Many dialects share common terms. Especially those that constantly traded with each other, where colonized, used to be part of the same ancient nation, or because they are neighbouring country!

History and language are amazing! :D

  • Oh hai mark!

  • The best lesson I've found!

  • Omg. Bad mic. Great vid though

  • best lesson ever. i need more!

  • wo shi fei lu bin ren! omg this video is so helpful!

  • wow... lots of info...

but now i can say wǒ shì měi guó rén!

uh.. i think that means I am American.

  • Yeah, CHinese is a language that VERY hard to master, Even I can't say that I master Chinese

  • they refer to america as "beautiful country" :D :) :D

  • Wǒ shì měiguórén. Zhōngwén hěn měi. Xiè xie.

  • Is this right? Wo shi shin-shi-la ren (New Zealander)?

  • Is this right? Wo shi shin-shi-la ren (New Zealander)?

  • Want to do online Chinese lesson with me ?

  • "I am not Chinese, I am from BeiJing"... Isn't BeiJing in China? Isn't ShangHai for that matter? Isn't that like saying, "I'm not American, I'm from California."?

  • I cannot hear the difference between 'his' and 'hers' on this video.

  • @outraged4U there's no difference between he and she they r both ta. so if u wanna make the possessive pronoun just add de. That's y there's no difference. Ta (he), ta (she), tade(her, hers), tade (his, his)

  • @weykmanfr Thank you!

  • @outraged4U AH tHANK YOU.

  • @outraged4U

yeah, his is 他的, hers is 她的..

他 means He, 她 Means she

    Thank you

  • In my country, so many Chinese.

    so, I learned this language.

  • best online chinese lessons ever! xiexie

  • xíe xíe para mi es doble el esfuerzo solo hablo español...

  • Xièxiè, wŏ shì Àodìlìrén! :D

  • Yeah but i'm from the netherlands/holland, how do you say you're dutch?

  • @MandyCM 您是荷兰人吗?Nin shi Helan ren ma? Are you dutch? Bent u Nederlander? 您U是bent荷兰人Nederlander吗?

荷兰(helan)=Holland is a result of transliteration, and 荷(he) means lotus or water lily; 兰(lan) means orchid. So literally, people can image Holland is a flower country and it is.

  • @GiganticBrother Holland is a flower country, and America is a beautiful country... This shows what kind of people the Chinese are and their nature. To them we are beautiful... to many of us, sadly, they are only "chinks" or other-such derogatory terms. Sad, isn't it ?

  • @ImaBadAssDruid That's a very broad generalization. You are basically saying that all americans are racist? and think of Chinese as chinks. That is not only irresponsible of you to say, sending a distorted message of the reality to many people watching this, but it's also just plain wrong.

  • @ParkLeeNa Irresponsible of me to say? I live in the United States and I wouldn't doubt that there are more people who are racist than not. You can be angry at me all you want, I do not really care. I never said that all Americans are racist, but certainly there are ENOUGH who are... Enough to give me a bad name and enough to give any other American a bad name.

  • @ImaBadAssDruid What you say is false just by common sense, but also has been proven false by many studies and surveys. So go ahead and spread falseness on the internet for all I care, everybody with a mind can see what you are trying to do. If you think the United States are so racist, why dont you leave? Go find a paradise land where you can live in peace, you and your prejudices. You are the racist one sir.

  • @ImaBadAssDruid Please don't write uneducated generalization like that. I know you might think this will give you sympathy points with chinese people and that you want to look like "the good guy who understands asian sensibility" but it won't work. Yes there are racist people in america, who see chinese people as "chinks", but there are also racist people in china. You make yourself look like a fool.

  • @ParkLeeNa Well I am sorry that you feel so offended by my attempt to harbor peace between nations rather than incite hate-wars. I never claimed that all Chinese people like Americans. I am American and I don't even like Americans, I do not expect them to. You speak of uneducated generalizations yet you made one of your own. You can be mad all you want, it will not change my opinion.

  • @ImaBadAssDruid they call black people black ghost..........

  • Xiè Xiè !! :)

  • Good ... a beginner who has learned to say a few words/phrases can actually construct a sentence

  • omg good vid

  • xie xie great vid

  • Wow! I have now studied all of this in my Chinese class and it makes sense.... I can't REMEMBER IT, but it makes sense! Practice time!

  • I'd like to hear a man too, I don't wanna sound like a woman when I speak chinese, you know... we all learn by imitating others, so they should make too versions. Anyway, this is stunning, very helpful ! ...or vewy helpful ??? :)

  • xie xie, hen hao!!!!

  • xie xie for this vid :)

  • best video out there, good job

  • Xi xi!

  • Idk why but those colors are the only way I've been able to get my tones right so far...the 3rd tone is the only one I was ever able to do correctly before this...

  • great but simple^^

  • Too easy for me, I need to find a harder one :-( I like this video, it's good, but is it just me or is the sound really bad?

  • I seem to get mixed up with both the second and third tone...it's almost when i concentrate 100% so that i can ascertain the different tones.

  • wo bu shi mei guo ren O.o

  • Chinese grammar is very easy. if you understand the four tones, then chinese shouldn't be hard for you.

  • @DoItForGood

    现代汉语语法简单的原因是许多语法的应用已经打包在 成语,谚语词语里面了。对待中文的语法不能按照西方的理解去理解。

    中文属于越学越难,写和读割裂很大(同一个字在不同地区有完全不同的发音)。

    而且口语和专业用语不是一回事,另外书面语又是另一回事了。

  • 1000000 thankses!

  • pretty cool

  • thank you very much

  • Maraming salamat sa pagbabahagi ninyo ng palabas na ito. Nag-aaral ako ngayon ng Intsik 10 at masasabi kong malaki ang naitutulong nito sa aking pagkakatuto ng naturang wika. :)

  • Thanks for sharing this. May God bless you for creating this great work!

  • thx for sharing!

  • this is pretty good.

  • Yes there is no verb conjugation in Mandarin. This will make your life a lot easier.

But I reckon the most difficult parts for the Westerners may probably be the pronunciation and recognition of Chinese words...

  • Hahaha. Especially since there are a plethora of radicals. :-D

  • @Tentenlaw A plethora of radical testicles is what you want.

  • @z0rak: What a shame garbage like you exist. I don't think you know Chinese at all. So, simply disappear unto nothingness. :-)

  • Sorry I was just kiddin. I'm not garbage I swear. I don't even like garbage they suck.lol

  • @z0rak: Well, if you mean it, I guess I can forgive you. I really detest jokes like that. Please don't say something like that again.

  • the best "Hanyu" language vid on utube.

  • Then the only one meaning for "english" is a language?

  • That flag is British, not English.

  • How is the elgish one?

A withe one with a red cross inside?

  • English is a language...

  • Really?

So... if you borned in England you are not english, coz it is a language?

  • it means you're Brittish

  • English is an ethnic group and also a language.

  • Yes the St George flag of England is white with just one red cross.

  • Where is part one of introductions? Is it called by another name?

  • This has been SOOOOOOOOO helpful! Thank you.

  • Thank you Kellian8!!! I do am learning chinese!!!!!!

  • thank you very much for uploading this. This is very helpful for me.

  • 谢谢~!

  • wo sho bu lang di

  • If you are English speaker, you basically can get the structure right most of the time- quite similiar. just need to memorise useful pronouns, verbs and adjectives and adverb.

not that tough/ writing isn;t easy though

  • oww bu ka che

  • This is cool! Xiè xie for posting!^^ And they finally said what "Germany" means, so now I can really introduce myself... Wô shì dé guó rén. :) Wô xi huan zhong wén. Now was that last sentence correct? XD

  • yes, it is correct...

  • xie xie very much ^^

  • this is really freaking helpful

  • Não estou nem aí com o sotaque da professora, contanto que ela fale chinês corretamente... tudo bem.

  • Omgosh Xie xie this is helping me alot. There are other videos that I go to but some don't have the pin yin and if some do, half the time it is to small for me to see it. Xie xie ni!

  • Xie Xie

  • Woah, learning the spoken Chinese might be a little easier than the spoken French when it comes to verbs.

  • great way of teaching! awesome..!

  • Great graphics! Very interesting!

  • This is a great video!!! tanks a lot, It is very useful!!

Es muy buen video!!! muchas gracias, es muy util!!!

  • Wô shì xi ban yá rén :) Great video, muy bueno, you learn a lot in 5m. Verbs may be easy (compared to Spanish, for sure!) but the writing...phew, mastering all those characters must be a really difficult task. When I seem written so small at some places I still wonder how someone can tell the difference between many of them... :)

  • al fin puedo estuidar la fonetica china, que bacano, gracias por subir estos videos.

  • Thanks so much! i love this vid!

  • Super, merci beaucoup! Je me fiche de son accent anglais, du moment qu'elle parle chinois correctement...;-)

  • damn this is like maths

  • I thought she said rain when indication was green. Some of the pronounciation were weird but overall it's really good for beginner to learn chinese.

  • Holland = hélán 荷兰

  • I give you 5 stars for this kellian8, keep up the good work and don't forget to post more video about chinese lesson :-).

  • lol, i know it does sound like that, but its not. Chinese is a pretty language to those who have the maturity level, did you know if you say yao min in a different tone than the basketball player, its means i want to kill you? true story, look it up

  • and "shen me" means what ?

  • if i'm not mistaken, "shen me" (the "e" using 2nd tone ) that you mean means "what". It's like when you ask a person to repeat what they're trying to say to you.

  • Excelente video muy didactico y con buenos ejemplos ahora que China se perfila como una de las superpotencias, esto de aprender su idioma me viene muy bien.

    thanks very much from Perú

  • It's not a joke. Mandarin chinese doesn't have the "r" sound.

The country names are mostly by sound proxy. Just like in the case for Canada, England and Australia and also France.

So no... Chinese aren't calling "fags" to french people. That's just your naughty naughty brain.

  • The Chinese language does have the 'r' sound. for example, model = mótèr 模特儿 you can actually hear it very clearly. this character 儿 makes the 'er' sound.

  • I stand corrected.

Even the basic number two character (二 èr) has that sound.

  • then i must have read it wrong. you said "It's not a joke. Mandarin chinese doesn't have the "r" sound." but i guess you mean it does? but anyways, that was my point, so we agree on that =)

  • SO GREAT THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!! 謝謝

  • End i thout egnlish was hard
