I've read End the Fed and The Creature from Jekyll Island. In the interest of understanding both sides of the argument, I'd like to read something that argued in favor of the Fed and explains the arguments in a way that makes sense. Is there such a book?
The world truly is becoming interdepent when we lend to other countries because our own interests are at stake. And, the arguments often take a tone as if the money is being given away and not loaned ...BUT, can the loan be paid back, what those possibilities are would be a better question to ask. Since a loan afterall is doing business depending on your return which determines if you're doing business or handing out charity. We maybe should be lending money here, but w/o demand how do you?
So 105 billion isn't alot of money as its relative to the world GDP, but still, are these countries going to be able to pay it back? That would be a queston that ought to be asked. Are they about as credit worthy as some of the real estate loans defaultings that led to the crisis? Capitalism truly is a Ponzi scheme and to the extent corporate doesn't sufficiently trickle down rewards for success the CYCLE becomes stifled. I"m afraid the IMF is leakin to the 3rdworld, we suffer.

Ron asks Ben to justify decisions (Greece bail out) that he didn't make.
Ron sounds as if he believes Ben has a printing press in his office. The Treasury prints the money and the Fed distributes basically by loaning which is profitable. Ron's "question" frames it as the U.S. printing money to give away when really it is the Fed loaning.
I don't have enough space to go into more detail but I recommended true believers check Ron's statements and ideology with a contrasting source.

The Fed is technically a private bank but it isn't really like a private company because they are controlled by a board of governors that are appointed by the President and confirmed by congress. They also have dual mandates set by the Federal Reserve Act to act in order to maintain stable prices and minimize unemployment.

Monetary policy is causing problems in Europe but it seems mostly because those nations vary too much in their fiscal policy to keep the euro stable. The U.S. is a lot different but there's not much room here to explain the housing bubble and you seem to know everything already so why bother?

I'm no expert but from what I've read mild inflation is a better situation than deflation. The Fed has to balance unemployment with inflation/deflation and so by lowering interest rates which leads to more money creation they reduce unemployment at the cost of some inflation. If inflation becomes too much of a problem relative to unemployment the interest rate is raised slowing and controlling inflation.

Ron asks Ben to justify decisions (Greece bail out) that he didn't make.
Ron sounds as if he believes Ben has a printing press in his office. The Treasury prints the money and the Fed distributes basically by loaning which is profitable. Ron's "question" frames it as the U.S. printing money to give away when really it is the Fed loaning.
I don't have enough space to go into more detail but I recommended true believers check Ron's statements and ideology with a contrasting source.

The Fed is technically a private bank but it isn't really like a private company because they are controlled by a board of governors that are appointed by the President and confirmed by congress. They also have dual mandates set by the Federal Reserve Act to act in order to maintain stable prices and minimize unemployment.

What the Federal Reserve and the powers that be (who control the reserve) did resulted in this travesty... Whether is it hyper inflation or spiral deflation, Bernanke is no friend of ours. His logic is flawed, simply because he relies on what he learned in school versus what the market place teaches, in conjunction with what he learned from school.

Monetary policy is causing problems in Europe but it seems mostly because those nations vary too much in their fiscal policy to keep the euro stable. The U.S. is a lot different but there's not much room here to explain the housing bubble and you seem to know everything already so why bother?

In terms of the housing bubble... well, that's all a result of corruption and bad economic intervention by the Federal Reserve via quantitative easing and other methods.

My point was that this video makes Ron Paul look a little foolish.
I'm no expert but from what I've read mild inflation is a better situation than deflation. The Fed has to balance unemployment with inflation/deflation and so by lowering interest rates which leads to more money creation they reduce unemployment at the cost of some inflation. If inflation becomes too much of a problem relative to unemployment the interest rate is raised slowing and controlling inflation.

at 5:25 Bernanke is really smiling like a real gangsta boss when Paul said 'you (Fed) can do anything you want'. Like you probably all know the US Gov. can't overrule the PRIVET OWNED 'FEDERAL' RESERVE. Bernanke belongs in JAIL !!
