Alabama is on probation til June of 2012, but it does not effect bowl or championship eligibility. They had to forfiet 21 games from 05-07*. This did not, and does not effect the National Title year nor did it effect scholorship availability.
What it was over was athletes getting free textbooks for non scholorship students. This made then ineligibke to play and they had to forfiet the wins in which those players were involved.

However 2008 was Arkansas State. But Alabama has typically scheduled conference teams or good OOC teams for homecoming. Houston went 8-5 the year we scheduled them for Homecoming. Alabama is on probation til June of 2012, but it does not effect bowl or championship eligibility. They had to forfiet 21 games from 05-07*. This did not, and does not effect the National Title year nor did it effect scholorship availability.
What it was over was athletes getting free textbooks for non scholorship students. This made then ineligibke to play and they had to forfiet the wins in which those players were involved.

Oregon State did and played 6 ranked teams this season while Alabama played 7 ranked teams in the regular season and Michigan State which makes 8. ESPN was amazed and as confused as was I and the remainder of the football kingdom. It appears that UAT only plays those it feels it has a chance to win against. Unfortunately, sometimes this can bite you in the ass (see La. Tech and Louisiana-Monroe). Little Nicky SATAN's first year at UAT was 7-6 and you had to forfeit four or five of those 2007 wins.

USC can't go to a bowl game and Alabama is heading to the Capital One or Cotton Bowl. The SEC West records are Auburn 12-0, LSU 10-2, Arkansas 10-2, Alabama 9-3, Miss State 8-4. The SEC East has a 9-3 SC team. That's 6 teams with 8 wins or better in the SEC. The Pac 10 only has 2 teams with more than 8 wins.

Let's examine them real quick: Louisiana - Monroe and Louisiana Tech which both defeated UAT at their homecoming games in the last decade.
