I'm wondering if we'll have coins at all in the post-crash future. Do we really need them or will atm cards suffice? (gold back atm cards, of course) I just think that eventually coins and paper bills will be a thing of history.
@LisaJ4Liberty {In the United States the use of paper currency did not come about until the Civil War with the advent of paper script for the military. Prior to that all transactions were done with coins. Coins that were either made with copper, silver or gold. When paper currency fails it will always go back to coins for the average person.}
@RealMoneyWins -- perhaps. One things is sure, we are going to have to return to real money. There is no question about that, if you think this through logically. The fiat money will not be trusted by anyone when it fails, and that leaves Real money. The whole world is going to find out very soon that only money - that in and of itself has value - will suffice as money. And RealMoneyWins, maybe that will even exclude atm cards for awhile!
I think its rather obvious why silver is being held down, big industry does not want 100+ dollar silver because it would drive so many costs up...from tablet PCs to solar panels to pharmaceuticals. My guess is there is a collaboration between a very large short seller (JPM) and many multinational governments and global corporations to keep silver as low as possible as long as possible with all kind of kickbacks and incentives involved.
One pound of copper pennies (real copper pre-82 pennies) will buy 1 & 1/3 gallons of gas at current prices in my area. That is 154 real pennies or $1.54 face value. Copper is holding it's value where fiat currency is failing, just like silver and gold. But poor people who are aware need a way to protect their purchasing power too. Yes, I have some of the more expensive metals, but where else are you going to get a 300% return on investment for sorting pennies while watching tv or something?
Regarding copper coins, I think there is a big surge in the number of people that are beginning to hoard copper pennies now. Copper could turn into the next silver, as far as hoarding old coins goes.
@jgbloyd You get copper pennies the same way you get any other coins. But eventually they won't be in circulation as people hoard them like junk silver now.
Great stuff. It's nice to see some reassurance from top notch folk like Sprott and Turk. Copper does have a place in money.... if the prices of gold and silver go high enough...which...it has too.... we need another metal for lower denominations... and copper has been used for centuries.

I cannot thank you enough for posting these videos - these issues need to be brought to light and there aren't enough people discussing the issue.
